i voted for justine because she adapts her game on the different surfaces. on clay she is patient and on hard she tries to finish it off quickly.

solid defensive and offensive game.

Mar 26th, 2005, 10:03 AM
Justine because her game is very complete

Mar 26th, 2005, 10:04 AM
Christine for sure;)...she is one of the few players who are able to play ALL the shots.

Belgium = Best
Mar 26th, 2005, 10:21 AM
Kim :D

Mar 26th, 2005, 10:31 AM
None of them.

Mar 26th, 2005, 11:01 AM
where's LenaD???
LenaD has no game :tape:

i vote for Serena, but about 3-4 years ago, it's VENUS

Mar 26th, 2005, 11:03 AM
i voted JHH

Mar 26th, 2005, 11:35 AM
Obviously at the moment it's Lindsay, otherwise she wouldn't be number 1.

Mar 26th, 2005, 11:40 AM
The highest level of play I've witnessed is Serena's game in 2002.

Just look at Serena's US Open win in 2002

US Open Sep 8 2002
1 S Williams(1) - C Morariu-WC 6-2 6-3
2 S Williams(1) - D Safina 6-0 6-1
3 S Williams(1) - N Dechy(26) 6-1 6-1
4 S Williams(1) - D Bedanova(20) 6-1 6-1
QF S Williams(1) - D Hantuchova(11) 6-2 6-2
SF S Williams(1) - L Davenport(4) 6-3 7-5
F S Williams(1) - V Williams(2) 6-4 6-2

28 games lost in 7 matches

Each one's favourite :)

Mar 26th, 2005, 01:47 PM
I voted Justine...at her peak, the most complete game by far.

Mar 26th, 2005, 01:52 PM
Currently? Serena Williams by far. But when Justine is at her best, she's a big rival to Serena. If we're looking at who's the best out of all of them when they're all playing their absolute best, I still say it's Serena by a bit.

Mar 26th, 2005, 02:01 PM
Justine, she is the most complete player. But Lindsay, Kim and Serena also have a good variety of shots and can play all around the cort. Kim's not that great on the net, but her lobs, dropshots and slices make out for that.

Mar 26th, 2005, 02:23 PM
I voted for Serena of course. She owned Justin the last time they played.

Mar 26th, 2005, 02:33 PM
Serena Williams

Mar 26th, 2005, 02:38 PM
Serena.....when she's on, she's just devastating.....one of the best ever.

Mar 26th, 2005, 03:47 PM
Conchita Martinez

:p :p :p

Mar 26th, 2005, 05:24 PM
Each one's favourite :)

So true :haha:

Just that I voted Lindsay and she's not my fave...

Mar 26th, 2005, 05:51 PM
I'm biased, I voted for Serena. But she does have the highest winning percentage out of all those girls.

Tati & Dani

Yes, I wanted to vote for my fave Venus or Masha.

But finally I decided to vote for Serena.

Mar 27th, 2005, 02:33 AM
I voted for JHH; definately NOT my favorite.

Mar 27th, 2005, 05:52 AM
None of them.
Who then?

Mar 27th, 2005, 05:54 AM
I don't like Justine that much, but I voted for her. She has a very beautiful game. Amélie too. I think Kim is also very talented. Same for Serena... Oh the hell with it, they're all good.

Mar 27th, 2005, 07:26 AM
Elena should be on that list, although she isn't the best

Umm.... Serena probably. If you're asking for the most well rounded game though, I'd say Kim

Mar 27th, 2005, 08:12 AM
Probably justine...

Mar 27th, 2005, 08:44 AM
Who then?

The best game for me means what I like most and thus is the best game for me personally. That used to be Nathalie Tauziat's lovely serve and volley game. Now I'd say Jelena Jankovic or Virginia Ruano Pascual.

Mar 27th, 2005, 08:45 AM
Overall ... JHH

Mateo Mathieu
Mar 27th, 2005, 08:46 AM
I missed Nathalie Tauziat and her serve and volley game!

I voted Justine from this list. She plays a wide variety of shots and can play from any part of the court.

Serena plays great power tennis, however her mid court, transition and net game needs work. She can really hit them so wrong sometimes. Off the baseline she is usually great to watch.

Where's Elena? Her exaggerated groundstroke production is awesome to watch, thats why her groundies are so penetrating, she runs through the ball. Definitely the best ballstriker along with Lindsay and Jen in the Top 10.

Mar 27th, 2005, 10:50 AM
Serena Williams but Maria is on her way. Dont care do much for justine and Amelies style to much spin and variety

Mar 27th, 2005, 11:06 AM
Serena, of course. She's won all the slams, on all surfaces, has effective volleys nowadays, comes in a lot more than she used to. She has a drop shot in her bag match point down (OZ 2001), nice lob (particularly backhand), lob volleys (I've seen quite a few). By the way she has a great action in her backhand volley (commentators have said this many times).
She's of course a killer from the baseline with great 1st and 2nd serve, unbeliviable mental toughness (Only the second woman to win two slams behind match points (Margaret Osborne-Dupont)), THE speed, court coverage, tough one to drop shot. Also she can turn defense to a great attack very quickly. I know she can also serve and volley effectively in tight situations (AUS SF 6-6 40-40). She can hit big, accurate shots well from difficult postion.
Justine has power too, she started to win those Slams after she added more power to her game, but why she can't beat Serena or Venus on grass or hard, why Martina could compete with Venus and Serena on fast surfaces and beat them? Serena, Venus (and Martina) have better game than Justine of course!
Best game means which game is the most effective and which you win with on the four surfaces.
So Serena :D

Mar 27th, 2005, 11:50 AM
Justine Henin Hardenne. :worship:

Mar 27th, 2005, 12:54 PM

Thanks for answering my question!

1. Serena- she has it all. It's a shame she's so injury prone. Sometimes this year her game has looked more all-round then ever. Both touch and punch.
2. Justine-she has the most stylish game. Also extremely allround. Perhaps somewhat more accurate and definately does less mistakes than Serena. I still think Serena has the mental edge though.
3. Amelie-also very stylish. It's a shame she has mental issues, but that's why she's my fave. Who wants miss Perfect?
Davenport's minimalistic power game also deserves mentioning. Myskina at her best is also intriguing.

BTW: what do you mean by 'best game'? If you mean most successful, count Amelie out.

Mar 27th, 2005, 01:03 PM
where's LenaD???
Elena should be on that list, although she isn't the best

Where's Elena?
Lena D is one of my fave players, so of course I would very much like to put her name in this poll.

However, 8 out of 10 players in this poll have won at least a GS title.

And although Kim and Amelie haven't won one yet, but they both were #1, and Kim also was a GS fanalist several times (just like Lena was twice).

Mar 27th, 2005, 03:09 PM
Graf, Sanchez-Vicario and Navratilova deserve a mention from the all-time list. All were great on all surfaces, at the back and at the net.

But Justine got my vote from the current players.

Mar 27th, 2005, 03:10 PM
Justine Henin Hardenne. :worship:

I second that opinion !

Mar 27th, 2005, 03:29 PM
omg  iamagine Justine getting popular

Mar 28th, 2005, 02:35 AM
omg  iamagine Justine getting popular
Yes, she is.

Mar 28th, 2005, 03:56 AM
I'm not clear from the thread title and initial post whether you're asking who's game is most effective, ie wins the most tennis matches, or who's game I most like to watch?

Evonne Goolagong was a joy to watch, but Margaret Court had a better game, even though it wasn't as pleasing to the eye. (My eye, anyway.)

Mar 28th, 2005, 04:16 AM
Justine definitely tops everyone on that list, especially if you talk about that one handed backhand that she possess. It certainly is the most beautiful stroke of anyone on both the men and women's side.

Mar 28th, 2005, 04:52 AM
I think Henin-Hardenne has the best all around game. She is also a fierce competitor.

Mar 28th, 2005, 05:20 AM
Myskina only got 3 votes

Mar 28th, 2005, 06:16 AM
Justine has the best overall game, she's good at everything...........

Mar 28th, 2005, 12:21 PM
I'm quite surprised with the result, honestly!

But it's obvious who I voted for! ;)

Mar 28th, 2005, 12:55 PM
WTA World members are obviously connoisseurs! :worship:

Mercury Rising
Mar 28th, 2005, 05:33 PM
Yeah, I also voted for the obvious :D

Mar 28th, 2005, 05:52 PM
I would say Justine and Amelie because they definitely have the most varied games in women's tennis, and they have all the shots in the book.
Definitely the most beautiful games.
But if you're talking about "best" as meaning most destructive and most winning, then i would have to say Serena.

Mar 28th, 2005, 06:09 PM
I feel at her peak, Justine has no weakness at all. Sure she'd most likely be overpowered on quicker surface, but that's not really a weakness in someone's game.

She has great defense. She's quick. Her overall game is very complete.

Mar 28th, 2005, 06:50 PM
I voted for Amelie, although really, Serena should be leading.

Mar 29th, 2005, 09:01 AM
I'm quite surprised with the result, honestly!
The result surprises me even more when Justine is leading so much.

By the way, you have a nice avatar, DADYO.
