Maybe now Espn will show us some early rd action from some lesser known wta players. I really want to see Molik and Henin in the 4th rd... ;)

Federer, Agassi, Safin, Serena, Venus, Sharapova, I highly doubt you'll see lesser wta players. Maybe some Henin comsidering she was a former #1 and slam champ and its her first event back in a while, as well as Clijsters since she just won IW.

Well, Espn was only going to show 2 matches a day anyway. One of those matches would have went to Roddick. Now there is a better chance to see someone new.

If there's such a match (Henin vs Molik) then it's possible that they'd show since Justine is a former US Open champ and former #1 and Molik took Venus out of the Australian Open.

But it's unlikely because Venus, Serena and Sharapova play in the same day as H² and Molik.

They may show Daniela vs. Amelie in the 4th round since Daniela is very popular and Amelie is the #1 seed.. i hope they do!!

Most of us don't! Even americans!! Now we can watch Agassi/Federer and Serena/Venus, or Sharapova. Those are the names that ESPN is willing to show. If Alicia and Justine play, then ESPN might consider showing it. They might show taped Agassi or Sharapova instead!

Dont count on a rudduck free NASDQ.
We'll see rodduck on tape delay hurting his wrist 500 times, some footage of him winning last year, hours of analysis of his prospects for the rest of the year, some andy interviews, footage of him winning the humanitarian thingy (??), and finally hours of hearing pat mcenroe whine and cry into his beer about how poor andy would prob have won the whole thing........

Seriously, its not about liking or not liking andy. Its just that he is so overexposed that no one else gets any face time, particularly the non-sharapova/williams WTA players.

Now they are marketing the "big 4" in mens tennis, which is just a way of keeping andy in the loop. I know that they must feel that americans will not be interested in tennis without an US male to follow, but im not so sure. Federer is getting more popular, though he was a well kept secret (thanks ESPN) for ages.

CLijsters, minimal coverage last week, prob the same for henin this week...... stupid non-tennis fan execs @ ESPN

I hope that they show Shahar vs. Serena on Sunday. Then everyone will see Shahar's talent. Go Shahar!

there's always a couple of others to take over the mantle and dominate the screen. if the 5 or 6 A-List players all lose early, the'll just cut their losses and give you tape-delay highlights.

:retard: Another way of keeping Andy in the loop? Sorry but the top 4 in the ATP (Federer, Hewitt, Roddick, Safin) have separated themselves a great deal of points from the rest, so I don't see how ESPN promoting the big 4 on the ATP tour as keeping Roddick in the loophole and therefore showing more of his matches. Face it, ESPN will ALWAYS be like this, you're gonna have to wait until there are absolutely NO top americans playing on either tour to see players from different countries on a very regular basis. We still have Roddick/Agassi/Williams x2, Capriati, Davenport with us, though some of the mentioned will be gone within a few years, you'll have to wait it out and pray no other Americans make it huge on either tour.

What I meant is that when roddick was US open champion, there was no "big 4", there was just roddick, no one else got a look in.

No one else high in the rankings was promoted. In fact while pushing roddick, ESPN deliberately made roger federer virtually invisable, even though all those in the know realized he was the greater prospect. Now that andys ranking is heading downwards, they feel they have to widen the beam of attention to jsutify showing all his matches......

I know why they're doing it, they think that US fans only want US players, but I think that they should give all the big talent a fair shake, no matter where they're from.

When Borg was playing he had a huge US following, so US fans do enjoy non-US players if they get to know them.

The risk of their approach is that if most casual fans only get to know andy, then of course viewing goes down the toilet when he is not playing at the late stages of a tournament.

I really want to see Molik and Henin in the 4th rd... ;)There's something about people who cheer player's injuries that just .. I dunno ,,, makes you want to vomit. Or take several long showers in case they're contagious.

Well, Andy's commercials will again have the empty seat rather than the trophy next to him. The commercial after the AO loss had a rather hot chick take the seat that he had bought for the trophy. I like these commercials.

No, no. Don't worry...ESPN plays to replay the match at least 4 times and everyday have indepth analysis of the wrist injury, speaking to local doctors as well as the umpire and on-court trainer at the time. ;)
