Martina Hingis, unfortunately. I first saw her play at the 1996 U.S. Open, she thrashed Angeles Montolio 6-1, 6-0 in the first round. I never liked her then, and I still don't. However, I just knew she was going to go far.

All of them, actually. It's difficult to explain, but it was just obvious that they were destined for greatness.

Monica Seles.<br />As a 14 year old in 1988 she was just a whrilwind of power and activity and I remember her stretching Sabatini to 7-6 6-3 at the Lipton and having Gaby scrambling all around the court. It was clear here was a kid who hit the ball harder than anyone had seen and once she filled out a bit and got experience she would be a huge threat. The following year as a 15 year old she won her first pro event at Houston ( her 3rd event? ) taking out Evert in the final and by the time that year's French came round she was being talked about due to her outfits and her habit of throwing roses to the crowd before her matches ( Zina Garrison and Manuela Maleeva were not impressed ) and when she took the seemingly awesome Graf to a final set semi it was clear here was the next star of tennis.

Oh Geez that roses story sent everyone mad and it was such a shame it was all taken out of context. Monica was given roses from someone (i forget who and why) but anyway she was given thease roses before her match and didnt know what to do. She couldn't take them on court so decided to throw them to the crowd! Zina & Manuela were quite nasty about it think!
