"Maria’s Sharapova’s coach, Robert Lansdorp, received a USTA Lifetime Achievement Award last Sunday. But Lansdorp, who also coached Tracy Austin and Lindsay davenport, told TR.net that he hasn’t been paid a cent from the Sharapova’s during the past nine months. What’s up with that?"

from tr.net

maybe they can take up a collection during her birthday bash....put some money in the plate Maroon 5

Assuming this is true (and I have my doubts), how could a woman, who is supposed to be making $23 million dollars this year, not afford to pay her coach?

9 months = since Wimbledon 2004.

Sounds like total nonsense to me. (Apart from the fact that Masha has made nothing like 20 million dollars yet.)

Lansdorp was coaching Masha full-time at the US Open, and she goes back to him for coaching in California at least once a month, usually for a week at a time. he was at Indian Wells.

If he hasn't been paid, he must be a very patient man!

Come on Maria. Pay the man and be done with him.

Why would she want to be done with him? He has helped give players some of the best groundstrokes ever!

the first and most important question is: do they have a contract or does he simply feel entitled to some of her money?

Well, obviously, there is something more to this story because he was with her @ IW. He may not want any money. At any rate, I don't think Maria Sharapova and Yuri would be that heartless and not pay their employees. Also, with Landsdorp's arrogance, he would've sued by now.

i've read a number of interviews in which Landsdorp complained about not having been sufficiently acknowledged or recompensed by his former students. now i'm starting to wonder wtf is up with that. Maria seems to be his latest "victim". maybe he's hard up for money

seriously he takes more credit than Bollettieri it sems (btw ask safin what his opinion of bollettieri is and cover your ears for sure)

i remember seeing pictures of him at the open with a t-shirt showing all the people he said he helped create and said he was getting ignored....what are the players supposed to do mention him 24/7...it takes more than a good coach to be good, in fact the results come more from the players themselves, not the coach

This story is either:
1. Not true

or

2. He's getting something else than money from Maria!

So I can say with certainty he's getting paid.

So I can say with certainty he's getting paid. :lol:It all depends on if Maria is in control of her money or if her parents are. Legally they can garnish her checks and Maria may only be getting a small allowance of what she is making.

Before Dubya became president in 2000 Condi was his counselor for foreign affairs already. She said that she didn't get money back then ...

He probably feels he deserves more because she has been successful but if those were not in the contract, he cannot change his fees like that. he is not entitled to maria's endorsements, just coaching fees. If he had the same trouble with lindsay and seles, then he must be th greedy one.

lansdorp hasn't ever been any big players' full time coach as far as i know.
he's a club pro who makes hundreds of dollars an hour giving lessons. i don't know why he would be hanging around sharapova if she wasn't even paying him for "court time" lmao. maybe hes just advertising himself a few times a year as her full time coach so when he gets back to his club he'll have the people all over him. i really don't know. this isn't adding up.

the man's magical though.

I'm sure its bullshit...He is technically Maria's main coach...he has even managed to get one of the coaches that work with him to be heretravelling coach, Joyce.

If she hasnt hooked him up...then thats messed up, because I believe you should always be generous with the people who have been good to you. There is a reason why they left the famed Nick camp and traveled to CA for months at a time...he is one of the main reasons she is where she is today...she should be good to him...but if she is not...its still her right.

If Maria pays or not pays her coach how does that have anything to do With Bush & Condi?

I don't think that it's true. Don't believe it 'til there is sth to prove. :tape:
