Good Luck in Philly Jarmila!!!!!

I was ballboying for her when she played in the Philly qualies 2 years ago but she lost to Kapros in the final round. 3 people got lucky losers and she was the one person that didn't. I felt bad for her and I was rooting for her when I was on court!!!

Oct 26th, 2005, 10:04 AM
Hey people. Can someone tell me what kind of a player she. What are her strengths, weakness, how far do you think she can go ranking-wise. All info would be appreciated.
I know she beat Kata, who is one of my faves in the first round of Luxembourg, so she can`t be that bad. But then again she lost to Diana Nakic in the Portorož qualies 6:2 6:2...
Thank you :wavey:

If you have enough time, look for my reports from Luxembourg. I just love Jarmila :D. She's agressive, with a very nice serve, strong groundies and nice variety for a young girl. Her only real weakness for the moment is the weight, she strugles with the movement.

Oct 26th, 2005, 08:18 PM
It's good to like Jarmila :D lol

I agree with your post Pla ;)

Oct 27th, 2005, 12:46 PM

Hi everyone, im pretty new around these forums, other than the games section, but ive been following Jarmila for quite a while, ever since i saw her on a live feed of her playing Ana Lena Groenefeld in Hyderabad.

Its good that she is playing well, i wish i could watch her play. First tournament of the season and we qualify for th emain draw, hopefully this will be her breakthrough season.

Jan 2nd, 2006, 03:01 AM
Jarmila won 5-7 6-4 6-2 against garbin, this is a good first tournament result, shes into round 2. She is playing Lucie Safarova who destroyed sixth seeded Sugiyama last round, this will be otuhg for jarmila to win, but good luck to her!

Jan 2nd, 2006, 08:12 AM

those two have had plenty of duels in the past, only one in 18's though
they only keep records for Juniors 18's, ITF's and WTA.

She really loves Australia it seems...

Interesting you say that. Because just before the Aussie tournaments started there was a news report on Jarmilla who was in Sydney with her aussie coach and fitness trainer. She was practicing with Stosur. But the interesting part of the report was that they were talking (Jarmilla included) about her one day maybe playing for Australia. She said she loves Australia and it is much better for her to practice than in Slovakia and how the weather is nicer. Her coach or fitness trainer I'm not sure which (but after seeing them at Gold Coast event I'm pretty sure it was her coach) said that they had spoken about the possibility of her playing for Australia and that she was very positive about the idea. Jarmilla then said that both her coach and fitness trainer had taken her into there family like a daughter and looked after her so well and to play for Australia would be good. She also said she was now 18 and so the sky was the limit.

I don't think she will ever play for Australia & although she seems like a really lovely girl I hope she always plays for Slovakia. I got the impression it was an idea implanted in her mind by her fitness trainer.

I saw them on the coast and in the Safarova match he was yelling and screaming (it was all positive encourgament for Jarmilla - like Come on Jarka, this one Jarka) but it was just really excessive, incredibly loud and he didn't have the most friendly of facial expressions while he was doing it. Koukalova & Benesova's coach was there and it was really annoying him so he started clapping really loud each time Lucie won a point:o The whole crowd thought he was nuts, think Lleyton Hewitt on acid and you will get the idea.

Jarmilla hersef seemed like a really nice girl though, I actually felt sorry for her when she lost even though I wanted Lucie to win, just cause of her fitness trainer guy.

Also in the report her coach said he sees she can be top 10 in 18months, and I think she they said she wanted to be top 70 by Wimbledon and top 40 by end of the year.

At first when I saw the report they called it 'rising tennis star' so I waited for it to come wondering who it would be and I was surprised it was Jarmilla mainly cause I hadn't heard about her since Wimbly juniors in 2003 (she lost to Flipper that is why I remember:p ) And then they started talking about Aus and I was

But in case there are any Slovakians in the thread worrying about her deflecting, from the report I got the impression it won't happen, Jarmilla was positive about Australia and likes it here but I think she also loves Slovakia and it is home, like I said above I think it is more something her fitness trianer & coach wants.

Anyway I wish jarmilla luck and just thought you guys might be interested in that.

Feb 26th, 2006, 09:45 PM
She really loves Australia it seems...
Indeed...she loves it that much that maybe she will not play Indian Wells and Miami and instead playing some ITF in Australia. It isn't completely official yet.

Feb 27th, 2006, 04:09 AM
Interesting post, Naomi. I copied your post and put it on Jarka's forum on her website. There's a poster there whom I think may find it interesting.

I feel that Simon and her NEW fitness coach are getting waaaaay toooo much credit. Afterall, she just started with her fitness coach. As far as I'm concerned, Jarka has had all the right tools, she just needed to mature with match play in the "big leagues" to find her nitch. It's terrible that the coaches take so much credit when the player is the one that really does all the work.

I think Simon is a control freak. After reading your post, I think her new fitness coach is a wacko. Jarka comes across as quiet and reserved so I can only imagine how "embarrased" she probably was when he started yelling like a fool. But she would probably never let him know how she really feels about it. I'm familiar with that Simon's attitude.

Yes, she is 18 and that's a problem. That's why some of these coaches think they can control some of these players.

Everthing's going good for Jarka right now, but she better know what's good for her.

I too think that she'll be in the top 50 before the end of the year, but I'm not totally convinced that Simon will be the one who takes her there. He really wasn't the one that took her there in the first place.

Feb 28th, 2006, 06:50 PM
New schedule for Jarka...She will not play Indian Wells nor Miami. Instead she will stay in Australia for playing some ITF tournaments for increasing her ranking.

2nd match : Jarmila Gajdosova vs Anastasya Myskina

It will not be easy...

Jun 20th, 2006, 04:39 PM
1st round
(5) Anastasya Myskina def. Jarmila Gajdosova 6:3, 6:0

Jun 20th, 2006, 04:46 PM
She started very well, broke immediately, lead 3-1, had chances to extend that lead, but I don't know what happened from then on, cause when I checked again the match was already over.
I just hope it wasn't injury related.

No plans so far, I can't afford the time off or the cost.

Jarmila and Pebbles (Ashley Harkleroad) will face Sugiyama and Hantuchova in the Wimbledon R1 of doubles. I wonder who will the Slovak fans cheer for?

I'm 100% behind Gajdosova. :worship: :yeah:
