AS best European i would only include Justine, Amelie, Maria, and Kimmie... maybe Myskina but right now...
the others are way too young and their achievements are...well... not comparable.

Well I voted for Sharapova because I think she is the best European player right now. But Henin is the best achievementswise obviously.
I think that Ivanovic may become the best in the end but we"ll see.
I never really saw Krajieck or Vaidisova play just bits and pieces so I can't form a opinion on them yet.

I cant believe so many people voted for Mauresmo... Henin is wayyy better.. Just look at her results... She has many more slams... and she beats top players unlike Mauresmo.. Whenever Mauresmo gets close to winning a slam... she always chokes... Henin is by far the better player at this stage in their careers... and I think will always be.

Geographically, Russia is part Europe part Asia.
The russian territory is divided between Europe and Asia by the Ural Mountains.

Moscow & St. Petersburg are European Russia while Siberia is Asian Russia, although Russia is recognized as part of Europe politically since its seat of power is in Moscow.

Therefore, Maria Sharapova is born in Asian Russia, so technically she is not to be included in the poll. :devil:

She has achieved more than all others and will be back to achieve some more, as I think her career is far from over.

For now, Maria has been playing excellent tennis - but isn't she asian as you guys said? Many countries doesn’t belong geographically to Europe but in the sport world they belong more to Europe than to Asia

Countries like Turkey and Russia are always playing sport (soccer,basketball …) in Europe so there players are Europeans.

Unfortunately Maria is playing for Russia but living in the u.s so the Americans can say that she is not an American and the Russians can say that she is not Russian, :o

Now, the Europeans are saying that she is not a European, and I won’t be surprised if one of the Asians posters will post that she is also not a real Asian. :o

Also the Afro-Americans doesn’t think that she is one of them. :wavey:

Well, Dani last one a title (incidentally her only one to date) in 2002...

That said, a lot of the choices up here are dubious. Michaella Krajicek? She's a good up-and-comer, but to list her with the likes of Henin and Kuznetsova is absurd.
