View Full Version : What is up with Sveta?

Mirza's awesome performance aside: Sveta is in awful form, and she had a total meltdown today. She looked like a beginner playing her first match on Center Court. Intimidated and without any confidence. And she is a SLAM winner.
She moved badly as well, looked tired and not motivated.

She has been getting worse and worse recently, and it all began with her loss against Serena in Beijing after having MP. Maybe that's still in her head, I don't know.

She thinks she'll win purely based on her rankings.
Not going to happen!! She still has to play.

Also, she talks and complains about various things lately: crowd, line calls, Sharapova, etc.
Should concentrate on her game instead.

Hantuchova stole her grandslam form.

Plus. Like Dani. she's always been inconsistent. Drives me crazy.
Your avatar, :bolt: I hope that's not you erm, Dominique?

1. No, that's not me.
2. My name is not Dominique.
3. I am not female.
4. And you, vertigo, is that you in your avatar? No.

Yep, Sveta played awful today. Her season is okay so far. At AO lost to Masha in 3 sets, in Tokyo she lost to Lindsay.

She lost to Lindsay in Tokyo.
But here, she lost 10 of 12 games.
Sveta can redeem herself at IW.

I think she is just playing the wrong style of tennis, less power would do her good I think

i wouldnt say kuznetsova's having a bad year

she reached quarter-final aus open taking a set off sharapova and reached semis in tokyo giving lindsay a tough match

this is her first poor loss this year, lets see how she does in indian wells

Personally I think all that drug bollocks in Oz affected her far more than she's let on. How could it not?

From what I saw Sveta didn't play badly at all, she was just overpowered and hit off court. She never seemed to get a chance to assert herself when Mirza started powering.

Her 2 losses this year were to Maria and Lindsay.
This match, she's up 4-0 and loses 12 of 14 games.
Doesn't sound like it was caused by old drug rumors.

It sounds like a loss of focus.

Has she had a good win so far this year? Don't think so.

she is entitled to a 'slump', it is called the sophomore year, she may struggle but will eventually get her game going.

She's kinda in a funk. She's really been that way since Beijing. The drug allegations aren't helping. She's gone back to the inconsistent Russian women whose head is all over the place. When she lost to Lindsay in straights at Tokyo I knew there was something wrong with her. It's not physical, it's just mental. The Russians will not be what they were last year excluding Sharapova.

Has she had a good win so far this year? Don't think so.Hantuchova is probably her best win this year.
She beat Bartoli 2&0.
Maria had a letdown after winning Wimbledon.
She went 7 tournaments without beating a top 25 player.
Sveta is still a teenager, she's not used to these high expectations of her.

For a top player age makes little difference. Look at Maria.
As you said it early today, Sveta has some mental issues. Sometimes she can't focus and she loses in straight sets, with almost no fight. She must eliminate these meltdowns, in order to keep up with the top 5.
She has the talent.

Sveta lost first round at Wimbledon. Then lost to Dulko in Fed Cup.
She does this.
Sometimes she loses focus, and has trouble winning games.
The FO is still 3 months away.
That's when all the top players need to peak.
The majors.

Sveta is playing totally crap now :(

I love her style of play, it's so nice to watch and she is looking so powerful
I hope it was only one match and she will show her true colours :smoke:

Hey wait a minute dont be too harsh on sveta....Mirza played like a top 10 player today and took Sveta all by surprise exactly what Ana Ivanovic did last week in Qatar against Mauresmo .... Only this time Mirza had a great advantage THE CROWD that irritated Sveta drastically because there was a few thousand Indians out there behind her who refused to be quiet and were cheering her winners and sveta's mistakes with the same enthusiasm... I mean you could feel that Mirza was playing in India infront of her home very loud crowd....so Sveta was taken completly by surprise today....she will be back ever too strong....

But lets not take anything away from Mirza today...she was the better player and she is some one to watch for in the furture.....

Svetlana Kuznetsova is a good player, but she is so inconsistant. I love to watch Svetlana play and I hope she gets her game together. Kuznetsova is doing well in doubles. Maybe she needs to drop the doubles.

Don't drop the doubles this year. She and Alicia are undefeated.
They have 1 major, 3 to go.

IMO
Sveta is still trying to find her form from USO

After that she she lost to Serena and then was over
Lost to Dementieva in KC
Not a good matchs in YEC

And I saw the mots fo part of her matchs in AO and I need to say that she was AWFUL
Don't bad repu me for this... ... I realy think that she was very good in USO, but after she lost her form and is stil trying to find
BAd bad matchs in AO...."She lost for Sharapova in 3 sets" anynody saw that match!?
She just give Sharapova free points!!
IF she had make Sharapova play more and do make all that UE's she should have won
'cause Masha was upset with the heat
BUt all matchs that I saw (in AO) she was bad, many UE's, I just dont know how she got so far  :tape:

I hopa that she do not take Myskina as an example...cause they are looks like now
