She turns 29 later this month and will be missing at least 5 months before she plays again (early November- earyl April). Will she just hang up the gloves and just retire now?

Capriati still has a lot to offer. It depends what her play is like when she comes back and wether or not she still has the hunger. I think she still has a Slam in her.

I think Jenny still has a lot left in her - if she comes back in form there is no reason why she can't win a slam.

She came very close to the final of the US open twice in the last two years. With more focus and concentration she can do it for sure.

She could be looking at what Davenport is doing and thinking, well, why not me?

I think she is looking at Davenport and she's saying. I move better, I hit harder, I play tougher, and goddammit I'm prettier.

Whatever!!! Jennifer is still in the top 10, havning not played since Novembe! And she reached the SFs at 2 slams last year, and the QF at the other slam she played. And out of the 12 tourneys she could play last year, she reached the QF or better at 9 of them....... Jen has a few more good years left in her, and atleast another slam. She's not going away---GET USED TO IT!

I hope she returns soon - the last few years she has started playing late or badly at the start of the year. I hope she is ready for RG!

No!! She made it clear herself that she has more years of play left in her. Once she comes back and finds her rhythm, she will be winning again!! GO Jen!! :) :yeah:

The Jennirator is nowhere near retirement. She'll heal up be a little rusty at the onset but soon enough will be back to form. :smash:  :woohoo:

I hope she doesn't. She is the most popular champion in the tour along with Monica. She is one of my favourites. I believe a fit Capriati can still win more than 1 slam. Come on Jennifer! Please come back and kick some ass! We miss you!

Jennifer is not retiring no matter how much you want her to - shes probably reading articles etc saying that shes washed up etc and planning another comeback

She'll retire as soon as she wins the US Open. Later this year.

I think you will find that there is unanimous agreement on this board that Serena, Venus and Maria are the most popular champions

I think Jen will be around for a while longer... she really loves the game and I think she believes she still has another slam or two in her.

i dont think she will retire, she has the ability to win another slam (if she can get back to her best level), she's still been going quite deep in the slams so there's always a chacne when a player does that consistently, sooner or later it should happen. would be good to see her win a title other than a slam as well, when was the last time that happened?

As I've always said...
Anytime Jenny is gone for a while, she's preparing for a fat ole stuffing of a rancid dirty sock in those naysayers mouths.. She'll be ready to come fighting, hungrier than ever...

I guess she'll show everyone what a "fat, old washed-up, has been" can do when the pressures off... after all, she relishes in the opportunity.. and I, for one, can't wait to witness it!

I don't think she'll retire before 32.
