Will WTA soon build up TATIANA GOLOVIN as the new tennis darling. Someone who will actually be loved by the tennis crowd.

Well like everyone else, I agree that Maria's grunting and excessive fist pumps and classless celebrations are factors to why the crowd is not ready to embrace her. But then Anna was an arrogant bitch when she was beating players left and right but the crowd was still enthralled by her. I really can't put my finger on it but the most visible reason I can see is that she isn't that APPEALING at all.

And believe it or not, I feel bad for the girl because she's just young, one of the best players currently and actually very humble off-court. She tries to interact with the crowd through her court interviews by joking to the crowd but it seems the crowd are indifferent towards her. It's almost painful to watch these kinds of moments when Maria pretty much senses that she's not getting the love from the crowd.

It seems to me that if WTA wants to build up a tennis star that is going to be loved by the crowd, the best bet is TATIANA GOLOVIN.

Well there's lot of pretty and good young players nowadays, but it seems to me that Tatiana is a little ahead of the others on the sex appeal factor.

I belive that the next one will be Ana Ivanovic.
No, I belive she will be the first one that has it all: the game, the beautifull look and the personality.

Tatiana shorts are just to short! I do believe that this is a turn off for most people. Plus her nose is very ugly. With a flat behind and ugly face, I don't think that Tatiana Golovin will replace Maria Sharapova.

Ana Ivanovic might have a chance. Ivanovic has a strong game and good looks, and dresses well. Total package. Will have to see how far Ana goes.

I agree I think Ana has a lot of positive traits but she lack the right Direction in her life....Ana should have made it to the main draw in Dubai....

as a fellow from the same country, I pity you.

Your loved for Anna should not let you fabricate things.

If it is just your opinions, better keep it to your self because Maria just don't give a damn, moreso the WTA.

So far she had done well with the sponsors and stuff and the WTA are reaping the benifits of it.

Tatiana, well no offense, you may fantasized about her as the second coming of Anna K., but baby, she is no way in the same caliber as Maria Sharapova.

It would be great to see Ana do well and become the poster girl of tennis. I like Maria, but I'm a little tired of the generic blond ponytail look. I would like it better if Golovin had her natural hair color. But maybe because I am blond, I just am more bored by this look. I like brunettes. :)

I really hope they don't start building up some poor girl to the extent they did maria. maria has been forced down everyone's throat, she has been over exploited for one so young, if there is resentment on the general crowd it is not maria's doing. she really is a victim. Her overnight success also means she completly bypassed the underdog stage.
Personally I like maria for the same reason I love serena, The never say die attitude, their willingness to battle till the last ball is struck, their belief that they are the absolute best and no one can beat them, that is what makes watching them so fascinating.

Tennis crowds are fickle at best. They tend to love the underdog, which as someone else pointed out, Maria bypassed altogether by winning Wimbledon. However, if the crowds resent Maria is it because she, like Serena, wins every time she plays a tournament. Still, it is those same fans who will cram into stadiums to see Maria play. So I think it is working out fine for Maria and the WTA.

As for Anna, I hate to say this, but you were watching her at the end of her career, were you? By the end, crowds were booing Anna as she walked off court. Or people in the stands were making fun of her. To the crowds, Anna had gone from a probable grand slam champion, to a tennis babe who couldn't win. Which do you think a player would rather deal with, crowds hating them because they win too much or crowds hating them because they can't win?

i'm not a huge fan of what you call the "generic blond ponytail look" either. brunettes are prettier imo too. and the whole flat stringy haired trend needs to end.

maybe we you stop believing that what you think is what everyone thinks, and pay attention to reality instead of perceiving the reality you want to be, then you probably can be taken seriously.
The envy showed by some is truly pathetic (eg, look at your signature).

Right, when are these moments that maria 'senses she's getting no love from the crowd'? :bs:
From what I can see, your just jealous of Maria and her fine achievements, heck, look at your signature!
Why couldn't you just post this in one of the other Maria hate threads instead of starting yet another? wasn't there already one about maria being disliked by the crowd? Get over yourself!

Surely Maria senses how cold the tennis crowd can be towards her though we personally don't know how she feels about it. The truth hurts, I know.

Really, give it up, Maria is today the most popular player in the tour, like it or not, or are Cannon, Tag Heuer, Honda, Speemington, Nike all stupid?

unlike you that see what you want to see, I've seen Maria's live in a tournament, and believe me, she is very, very popular.

Really, your pathetic attempts to put down Maria to make Anna look good are quite sad.

Keep living in a fantasy world, in the mean time Maria keeps collecting endorsments and titles.

I agree with you.

I went to see Masha play at San Diego. And it was just after she won Wimbledon, so Masha was “talk of the tournament” and a lot of people go there just to see Masha play.
Maria is very popular she packs stadiums…
That’s true.

At San Diego, Masha was practicing on court #2 one morning and it was almost fully packed – more people went to see Masha practicing than seeing actually matches played by some top players there.
