Apparently, Venus has her hand taped, and her stomach. Venus is out of sorts. She has like 60 errors in 2 sets. That is horrible!

I guess I'll write this again.
I'm just tired of some random injury being the excuse for Venus losing. Venus knows her body better than anyone. If she has any feeling that she can't play a tourni like she would want to, then don't play. She's never had results she would consider great at Dubai. Last year she played three straight weeks twice. What happened each time? She got injured. You would think she would have learned from that. Nope. She's now committed to playing three straight weeks at Miami, Amelia Island, and Dubai. I get annoyed by people who continue to do things that they know aren't beneficial to their well-being. Lindsay is number one because her schedule last year was amazing. She knows what her body is capable of. Venus won slams when she played warm-up tournis and when she stayed to her schedule and didn't care about her ranking. Venus needs to just do her.

P.S. I'm going to try to explain this in a way that I hope people can understand.
Yes Venus is a superstar and I'm well...
The point is Venus wants to get back to number one and win slams again.
I want the same. Even if I happen to be the lowest of the lows tennis is still a sport.
A sport has entertainment value to it. If I don't feel that a player is playing up to the standards that they should, then I have a RIGHT to say something about it. If I'm not being entertained because a player is not making themselves better than I can say something about it.
She's doing SOMETHING WRONG. She hasn't won a slam in four years. She didn't beat anyone in the top 10 in 21 months until 2 weeks ago. She hasn't been in the top 3 for a while now too. Even if she wins tonight what then? She's injured.

venus vs silvia: 5-7 6-6, it would definately be very very sad for Silvia to lose this match after being so close. This could be her first win over Venus and her first huge win over a top player...

SFE isn't ranked 10, will never be in the top ten and should be fortunate she came up against an injured Venus. If she gets past Kuznetsova and that is a big IF, I don't see her getting past Serena (if she makes it to the QF).

Again you didn't have to say that bit about people's lives being empty. I don't get pleasure out of seeing her lose. I do get pleasure out of being right. I've told people for years that if Venus doesn't get better, she's just going to be a top 10 player. She might even be out of the top 10 by Warsaw. She has to see that there is something wrong with her game. Billie Jean King has been talking about it for over 5 years.
I hope she gets better but she won't get better unless she has a great schedule that stops her from getting injured all the time and ask people outside of her father and mother to help her. They're willing to help.

Venus will come back and win Wimbledon, if she attempts to play Eastbourne.
Venus has good volleys. Sometimes in critical times her court awareness starts to go.
Maybe if she played doubles more it would help. Serena shows that she doesn't need to play doubles to win a slam. Venus hasn't. I think she really needs the support of her sister in slams and she doesn't get that as much when she's not playin doubles with her.

I haven't forgotten. Venus could win a slam if she actually believed that maybe there's something wrong with her game. I don't mind when Serena says she lost a match and that another player didn't beat her. She's shown that sometimes that really is the case. For Venus to do the same is just sad because she's in denial.

I love Lindsay because she's gotten in shape and she's gotten a trainer. She's trying to get better at age 28 which is something I can't say about Venus. Sure Lindsay is a sneaky bitch but she snunk up to that number one ranking. Venus could learn a couple of lessons from Lindsay.

Great Liz. You agree with me on something. Venus to be seeded high or have a good draw to be a factor in a slam. About 10 years ago Venus said that she wanted to be a superstar on the tour with many Grand Slams. She also said she wanted to retire at age 25 and focus on her fashion career. I wonder if she still is thinking that as these losses start to build up.

So you mention that venus has at least gotten to a final within the past couple of years, unlike Davenport... So you were wrong, and someone corrected you.

You are right on that point.

What I shouuld have said is that Venus has at least gotten to a GS final in the past couple of years, while it took Davenport five, because that is the truth.

I dont understand how this thread has become about being a Williams fan.
Does ANYONE think a match is winable over 2 sets with over 50 unforced errors?
Venus woul have lost to ANYONE with those numbers.
As for the stomach, she probably didnt withdraw so the pundits wouldnt say she was pulling out because Serena was in her half of the draw.
No one really knows whats going on physically except Venus herself.
I do think she should get healthy, play doubles if she wants to stay comitted to the game.

She had a lot of time to think when she was out for six months.

If she really didn't want to play, she would not be out on the court, but I still question her decision to play if she knew she was injured or continue to play if she was injured during the match.
