National Chinese Championship is quite a big event for Chinese athletes;)

it holds once in 4 years and nearly (99.99%) big chinese sport stars are attending it

Well, i heard they are missing out on wimbledon... others say dubai would be the last event in weeks... so i'm very confused... it is certain they aren't in indian wells though...

so i really need people to confirm what going on.. too many scenarios... and besides missing wimbledon is really a terrible thing itself.... imagine missing out on one slam.....

That is 100% true. They will miss the tournerments for more than two monthes after Dubai (probably except Peng Shuai). Chinese National Game is like Chinese Olympic, it includes all the Olympic items. All these girls will represent their provincesf and fight against each other. :bounce:

Why 2 monthes?
Cause they need to be back to prepare for the game.
Then Opening Ceremony, if they exit early, then Closeing Ceremony, then Summary meeting.
These are all very Chinese communistic disciplines and quite stupid. :bounce:

Well.. playing against the world's best players is good preparation itself.... it's such a shame...

Let me say sth I've known ;)

The 10th Chinese Nathional Games will be held in October
and tennis tournament includes three parts:
March 18th-27th
Singles ,Doubles and Mixed Doubles Qualifying Round in Tianjin
June 20th-26th
Teams Qualifying Round in Hubei
then there will be 24 singles players 12 doubles/MD pairs
and 12 province teams to compete
10th Games in Nanjing,October

According to some news I've read, the girls will NOT play until late May
they will play FO but then NOT any grass tournaments, for sure.
(they use the word "abandon" since grass is their weakest surface)

and these girls are only allowed to travel abroad with the whole national team
so even if they lost early they'll not play WTA tournament alone

HOWEVER Peng Shuai's schedule is always different from other girls.
She said she's more like a professional than the girls of national team.
she'll play the 10th Games,also Wimbledon and maybe more.

At last I'd say the National Games is really a big case for Chinese sportsman
Anyway China has 20+ provinces and some can have 50+ million population
The competion between provinces is really fierce...:o
I bet the girls will be too happy if you give her a Games gold medal just don't
allow her to play the next year.

take Li Na as an example, she returned to ITF last year and at first she just played tournament in China against other Chinese girls. You know why?Because her only goal is to compete in the Games!
then she decided to head for Top 100 since she played so well :)

So this year is sure to be not consecutive but don't worry.
the girls are still young.Let's watch patiently, especially Li Na :hearts:

Thanks. It is true that the national games are their mail goal for the year as a matter of fact. They can be honored and awarded by their provices like an olympic champion. But I don't think it's their only goal and the reason Na came back. The girls mentioned a lot of times that they are aware the grand slam is the main goal for a tennis pro. And Na complained about not being able to paticipate in making schedules ealier this year. Obviously she did not like the schedule at all.

Well, hopefully it will be better next year. But their main goal will be the Doha Asian games for sure. So ... ...

Question for the Chinese: is Tibet represented in these Championships?

Well, I'd check the commitments lists and then see what the case is. I think if they rate it that high, then they know why they do it. I mean it is something they want to do, I don't think that they are forced to do so you know.

I agree that Li Na does have a big goal now.I just make it clear that
her comeback at that time is because the 10th Games would be
within a year and she needs to get some ranking points.
It was her strong performance that boost her confidence and make she
decide to join the national team and then travel abroad to play WTA.

Its pretty stupid that they have to miss so much just for one tournament. They could just play for the 2 or 3 weeks, then go and play their schedule.
Maybe it is important in China, but I dont understand how any national championships can take priority over playing the world's best. I'm sure it will be so much fun for them to beat up on their lower ranked compatriots
They should at least have a choice on whether to play rather than being forced to.

Peng Shuai is heavily sponsored by Tianjin tennis Federation as far as I know. Just like Xie Yan-Ze and Liu Nan-Nan. For sure they can't miss these Games.

Why? China is doing better than it's ever been on this government and every day we get nearer and nearer to being part of a global community. If you knew anything about Chinese history you'd be not only surprised by the economic prosperity, but simply the fact that China isn't having a civil war any more.
Wow, what about the Culture Revolution?
Chinese killed Chinese, children killed parents, husbands killed wifes, brothers killed sisters, that's the most nasty civil war just happened 28years ago under the same goverment!!!
:fiery:

I know what you mean, my great grandfather died in the cultural revolution; but at the end of the day the way I see it is that now all my family have food and shelter (in China) and I get the chance to go abroad to study; so I am very grateful for this.
It's normal for a good goverment to make pepole to have food and shelter and abnormal to be grateful for that.

Do black people play in American sports? Really? Wow that's nice considering what happened in history
that's not the same...Tibet still doens't accept being part of china...but they compete in the chinese games...that's something positive....(I suppose it's native tibetans competing and not people who migrated to it the last 50 years?)

Well if you didn't know, before the Cultural revolution people were starving, and they eat rotting corpses because they were so hungry. Medicines were so rare and expensive that people had to sell their houses to buy it, there was no rice for anyone because it was reserved for the Japanese, people sold their daughters and sons in order to buy food for themselves, etc. So I am grateful for how great China is now.

Where in China do you actually live?
Oh, really?
I knew it happened the same in earlly 1960's, that was Kun Nan Nian“困难年”. Even worse people had no houses to sell to buy food or food coupons. Are you brainwashed by your goverment this part?
