I wanted to include Serena's Australian Open, but if I have the 4 the combinations are more than 10 :retard:

So I will limit it to the remaining GSs.

 I think it is unlikely for any of them!

It is very hard to defend such titles!!

I think Maria will defend Wimbledon. She was dominant last year and has only gotten better and more experience.

Rg is the most difficult to defend, it has been way to long since that happened, probably since steffi or seles if at all. Maria has a chance to defend wimbledon but it won't be easy, sveta is yet to find her slam winning form.

I think Maria has the best chance in that group, and she is the only one i might see winning another GS this year in those three!

Masha has a chance of either defending Wimby or winning at the USO. I can't see Nastya or Kuzzie producing the goods.

RG will be won by Serena. Momo also has a chance but we all know that there are issues of pressure, etc. Still, I'll say Ree or Momo.

Unless Serena goes into Wimby in top form, Maria has a chance of defending.

I don't think any of them will defend, but one of them may win at a different slam.

Only Sharapova has a realistic chance.

like the answers in the poll reflected, chances of Myskina/Sveta defending RG/USO are virtually none.

So the real question of the poll is, does Masha defend Wimby? (and left off the poll, does Serena defend the Aussy in '06?) My hunch is no and no. Although right now i would name Masha as an early favorite for USO title, her game is tailor made for fast hardcourts...

i don't think Serena is going to be the one who stops the title defenses. Going on current form, i'd bet on Serena to win either one (Wimbie) or even none of the next four GS tournies. It's not like she won Aus in dominating fashion, and she probly won't have the gift of playing Davey in any more GS finals. I never count Serena out, but she needs to play better to get her throne back.

Yes, Serena was playing at 80% and won the Australian open, beating the World's #4, 2, and 1 along the way. Can you imagine what that would do for one's confidence?:eek: Knowing you won, playing far from your best?:eek: That at the end of the day, you were STILL the best.:eek:

Serena will no doubt have gained confidence from her victory, and this will up her level on court from this point forward. I see Serena winning 1 more major this year AT THE VERY LEAST.

I don't think anyone will defend or win a GS this year. If Kuznetsova plays every match like she played that final against Elena, she can win the next three GSs.
