That is some of the best tennis I have EVER seen.

That was really awesome, awesome tennis from Maria. Daniela played a fantasic second set, but Maria was stunning.

I feel for Daniela for putting up such a great performance, she's nearing her best form now, thank goodness! first semi in a while :)

But Maria, I'm not really a fan anymore, but that was just

Congrats to Maria, but it was boring tennis. Every shot either a winner or an unforced error. Just two big girls banging the ball hard from the baseline with no game plans and no understanding of how to construct a point.

Tennis was a lot more fun when a rally actually meant more than three strokes.

Tell that to Hantuchova. Because unlike her, Sharapova was doing something that actually works for her..

Well when you get two players playing like that, they don't really need to know how to "construct a point" in the way you're thinking :)

umm i don't know what your bitching about, b/c women's tennis has been all about hitting either a winner or error for years now, this is not the first match with no rallies

I knew
Dani and Masha just can be a match like this
They are not clay girls, they are not good in rallies

That's why I want Jen back!! I wanna see other third set like was USO semis Dementieva vs Capriati!!

Of course Daniela couldnt hold her serve at 4-4 after having 3 GPs.. we have seen that before.. If Daniela would of converted on some of these points who knows what could of happened.. well we know that it would of been alot closer.. And its kinda dumb to have the players play at midnight.. The organizers are stupid and should of put them on tomorrow

Maria played fantastic. The girl hits deep and on/near the lines with incredible power. Her movement is definitely better. All in All she's in much better shape than a couple of months ago in Zurich. I would favor Maria for the title. Hantuchova was decent today. At least she made less errors than she usually does. But I think it was also clear that she is no top 10 player and won't become one in the near future.

Isn't it amazing how Eurosport manages to broadcast around the entire world? ;) And there was me thinking it was in Europe only

As much as I dislike the girl, Maria was awesome in the first set and though Daniela didn't do much wrong (the commentators concur with that), Maria was just too powerful for Dani.

Second set was a different story. Daniela matched her stroke for stroke for eight games and IF Dani had managed to convert that ninth game, it could have been different. But if you don't take your chances against someone as good as Sharapova then you aren't going to beat them.

Daniela played some fantastic stuff in the second set and I'm really pleased that she has had a good tournament here and is coming back into some pretty good form.

BTW, I really look forward to the day when an opponent complains to the umpire about Sharapova's incessant shrieking. It is so annoying and so unnecessary. I wish she would just shut the fuck up and just play tennis without all that awful noise.

Nice try by Daniela in the second set; but at this point, Maria's simply too tough of an opponent for her.

Molik is going to be a tough nut to crack for Maria. It looks like it's going to be a brutal, slugfest between two, very mentally tough players.

I'm sure you didn't mean to single out Daniela by that, and that you meant to say the Maria is too tough an opponent for just about everyone at the moment. :o Credit to Daniela for making Maria fight really hard in the second set, it shows that she's getting there.

Two of my favorites playing! Ah, what a crap that I missed it. Anyway, couldn't have watched as ESPN LA nor ESPN Brazil don't usually show women's tennis apart from grand slams. I'm glad to hear that both players played well and Maria got to the final.

From what I've seen this year of Maria, she does seem to be playing better when she last met Alicia. But so does Alicia, she's improving in every tournament. So that kinda makes it hard to predict who's gonna win, but I'm with Maria!

Good week for Daniela, hopefully she can go further in the next tournaments.

Daniela played a good match, but Maria was to strong , in that first set , she hit the balls so close at the lines. She hit the balls so hard like only the Williams sisters can. In the second set Daniela was very very good. She played very good tennis , but there where 3 or 4 calls from the umpire where i have my doubts on it. But Daniela played a fantastic week. This is very hopefull for the futher. I'm proud on you Daniela , you did a great job this week.

Ys, science does not support this. Maria has lived most of her life in a very warm climate. If she can properly acclimate herself to the heat, she can take it just as well as Serena.

It does not matter. I used to live in Africa. I am Northerner, I could not fullyadjust. Impossible. Besides, do you really think that a tennis pro spends any time of summer in Florida? Most of tennis player spend only those 6 months of year in Florida when the weather is appropriate for a human being.

Actually, it takes thousands of years for bodies to evolve. Hence darker skinned peoples don't suddenly turn white when they move to climates with less light than Africa:p ;) . Serena's body is naturally more adept at handling the heat than Maria's.

A great win for Maria against a Dani who was playing very well at this tournament!

To beat her in straight sets with no loss of serve is really good work from Masha.

Now Maria has to face an Alicia in very good form. I like Alicia, but I have to support Maria in this. Alicia has a lot of power, is a tough fighter and is very hard to break on serve, but hopefully Maria will pull it out with her intensity and shotmaking.
