Hi Guys :bigwave:

Since Dementieva's fan has started the Dislike thread, i will do the opposed, i am curious who other players you support then Lena D and why??

Well i got like 20 other favs then Lena D, but i'll write only sth about 5 faves which i really like and why i like them:

- Iveta Benesova... (you couldn't miss it, becuz Iveta is on the same place in my faveslists and i am sure i told you much about her around Lena's thread ;))
I like Iveta becuz of her game, and her positiveness on court, when i am watching her matches i have never seen anything bad like racket throwing or sth like that with Iveta, i started to support Iveta from RG 2003, but i confused her nearly for 1 year with an other Czech player Libuse Prusova, when Iveta won the title last year in Acapulco in found out the mistake :o
That Iveta looks good is also a great thing but not the mainreason why i like Iveta, i love Iveta simply becuz she's a gracious lady...., i really hope to see her in Rosmalen (and i really hope i can go, still not sure yet), Iveta's is injured right now, i expect she'll be back at IW, and i really hope she'll stay in the top 40 this season, cuz she has alot of points to defend this year.

- Klara Koukalova, i started to support Klara from the AO 2003, when i saw Klara's match with Monica Seles on TV, I also like the way Klara plays and reacts on court.... hopefully Klara can stay in the to 50 this season

- Eva Birnerova, I started to follow Eva from the USO last year when Eva was playing dubz with Iveta, Eva is a great dubz player and a good gravel player also, i hope she'll crack the top 100 this year....

- Lina Krasnoroutskaya, Well i remember one of Lina's matches from 2001, i started to support her, but when she got injured at the AO 2002 i lost my sight on her i was so happy to see her back on the BBC when she was playing Wimbledon dubz with Lena D, i remember their great game that i saw, it was really nice to see Lina back in action, i like her gamestyle and attitude oncourt.

- Lena B and Nadia Petrova, i love them both, their style of play are great to see, and they are really nice offcourt (not that i ever have spoken to them but they seemed to be nice on photos), hopefully i'll met them both one day

Williams sisters - I love their games, powerful and talented. Always exciting to watch them play. :D And they are the ones i first know about demale tennis players' names

Hantuchova - appearance makes me become one of her fans

Benesova - see "Hantuchova", and she's the 100x hotter.

Others include: Silvia Farina Elia, Maria Sharapova(sometimes), Klara Koukalova, Tatiana Golovin, Gisela Dulko.

My other faves would be:

Nastya--her quirky off-court style and bizarre mental collapses make her fun to watch. And she's buds with Lena.

Masha--say what you will, she's got game. She says/does some stupid stuff, but she is "only 17." As the parent of a teen, I can assure you that she says/does stupid stuff less frequently than most teens do.

Venus--For some reason I've always liked Venus better than Serena. Could be that she's a little more gracious. Or that she has those great legs. Or that we both have younger siblings who obviously don't take birth order seriously enough.

Ai--any partner of Lena's is good enough for me.

Mine are Daniela, Jelena Dokic, Justine, Tatiana, Maria, Dulko and Nastya. In no particular order exept from Dani, who is my second favourite after Elena.
I simply like them because of the way they play. Btw they're all still quite young which makes their performances even more admirable.

I like Sania Mirza. She is Indian! :hearts:
Serena Williams - She is so confident, lively and imposing on court.
Maria Sharapova - She has a never give up attitude. Though I loved it when she lost to ED in HK. ;)

Maria Sharapova - She dont have game. Just bombs, she just know how to 'hit hard in the ball' but ask her about 'slice' or volleys and she says: "Its a perfume name?" What I realy like in Masha is her mental part, her fighter spirit and her celebration after a point. She plays with her heart and I love this in a player. Robot players like Rog (Federer) are just boring.

Mauresmo - Maybe 'cause the first tennis match that I realy care was with her (and Lena).

Lindsay - She also dont play nothing and movs terrible but I like her. She is very good in speachs and I lover her speach in Auzie doubles final. Very touching.

Dechy - MAybe cause she beated Kuzna in Fed Cup :yeah:

Alicia Molik - I loved her speach after won auzie doubles. She just showed why auzies are one of the most funny and nices peoples in the world. And (besides her backhand) her game is fine.

I like Serena, she's funny, has a fighter spirit, sometimes she sayd SHIT, but she's like a woman version of Jim Carey, I can't stop to laught.

And Jen for the same reason. Who will say for a mum with a 'cry baby': "Turn it off!!" :haha: She's just to funny!!

Nastya- fun player to watch. Moves real quick, love the backhand down the line. Make it interesting to watch with all the yelling :p

Daniela- became a fan after 02 Indian Wells. Back then she seemed like she was a fearless girl!

K-Lina- powerful hitter, wish she can be more consistent though

Justine- one word: BACKHAND

I made a picture of all my favourite active players, who I collectively refer to as "Team DR".....

From left to right: Maria Sharapova, Iroda Tulyaganova, Maria Kirilenko, Anna Kournikova (she still plays right? :p ), Team Captain Elena Dementieva (or course), Alina Jidkva, Giisela Dulko, Nicole Vaidisova, Jelena Dokic and Marta Domachowska.

I had to use an old pic of Lena because there are so few of her in tennis uniform where it's a full body shot and she's looking into the camera.

In the WTA I donít root for anyone else except Dementieva. In the menís contest I support Andy Roddick, Joachim Johansson, and Guillermo Corea.

Except tennis also root for the Formula1 McLaren driver Kimmi Raikkonan (I love it when Michael Schumacher loses, which does not happen often). I follow Cricket too and being from India I obviously support India but when India is not playing I love to watch South Africa in action. Irfan Pathan, Sachin Tendulkar, Adam Gilchrisht, Brett Lee, Lance Klusner and Jacques Kallis.

Raikkonan because he has the potential to be the next big thing of the F1 world.

Andy Roddick, Joachim Johansson I love their serves.

Guillermo Corea: class player.

And all the cricketers I mentioned are entertainers.

Guys time!!

FIne by mE:

Marat - What a guy!! Crazy but lovely. Except for his head he can be number 1

Roddick - Very funny also. Nice and has a GREAT SERVER. No game at all. If you 'fucked' with his head he loses. Once that his server is not going on his game will go for the same way.

Lleyton Hewitt - Everybody can say what they want, but Hewitt has the BIGEST FIGHTER SPIRIT in tennis life. The guy just never gives up. He keeping returning all the balls, is just frustraiting for others players.

Federer - The guy teach you tennis!! AMAZINGS Slices, backhands, forehands. And all this he plays natural, like was a nomal thing, like drink water.

CaŮas - Great fighter spirit too.

Nalbandian - I just love him, dont know why. he also always beat Federer

Coria - The guy deserve be called of 'El MAgo'. he do what he wants with the ball.

Gaudio - The king of clay. Show for everybody how to play there. And possibly will win RG again.

Ricardo Mello - Brazilian player. I love him.

Guga - 3 Rg's I need say more? (he's brazilian too)

Tommy Haas - The only player that after an year without play well back to play well. And he's hot too.

Carlos MoyŠ - I love him, he's so sweet!!

Tim Henman - Nobody do volleys better than him. Even Federer lost to him. He just need stop of CHOKE!!

Agassi - I like him. He a example for tennis.

And I think that I have others too, but that was the one that I realy care.

I love four at the most: Hewitt, Safin, Roddick and Federer ;) :yeah:

F1 - Shumi!! I always loved FERRARI. So, ,I love all the team.

American soccer: Tom Brady!! I love him!! Hate the sport but love the player!!

Futebol: Owen, Beckham, HENRY, Zidane and Ronaldinho Gaķcho

That's all that I can remenber at the momment ;)

I dont care what her ranking is and how she behaves. its a feeling of patriotism that I can't resist and this is why she gets so much support here in India. BTW no one is perfect and teenagers are supposed to be a bit arrogant. Ofcourse she has to improve a lot, but she has just started.

WTA:
Myskina - I like how she plays. And I love her name. It's so beautiful
Martina Hingis but she isn't playing. I don't really know why I like her.

ATP:
Gustavo Kuerten - THE BEST PLAYER EVER.
Sebastien Grosjean - I like how he is moving on the court.
Guillermo Coria - I like clay court and he is the best on this surface. I really like how he runs.
Marat Safin - Wow. Just great player.

Yes, but all except Elena should be kneeling before her power and glory, and only one of them is.

I support everyone who's listed in my signature. They're all current and active players, of course.

Since there's so many, I'll give reasons only to a select few:

Shinobu Asagoe: An extremely delightful player to watch. Quells "Asian stereotype" by looking joyous, ecstatic, thankful and extremely pleased when she wins her match. My favourite moment would be her 3rd round win at RG against Gisela Dulko, where after winning the match, she had her hand over her mouth and almost smiled and cried at the same time.

Conchita Martinez: I liked her ever since she made it through to the finals at the AO in 1998. I enjoy watching her confuse opponents with deep, backhand slices. And it doesn't hurt that she is almost like Elena: she avoids excessive publicity and tries to keep her profile low on Tour. I like people who are private.

Maria Kirilenko: One word: HOT. As in tennis talent, of course ;) And I admit: I have a weakness for hot, blonde, talented Russians.

Daniela Hantuchova: If there was a girl who can give Elena, Anna and Maria a run for their money in the looks department, I'd say Daniela would be the most obvious candidate. More natural looking that Golovin and with legs as smooth as silk, I would be eternally jealous of (but also happy for) the fortunate guy who'll Daniela will marry in the future.

Elena Likhovtseva: I first noticed her when she made it through to the QF at the 2000 AO after beating Serena Williams 6-3, 6-3 ( ). Nice serve with a high ball toss is one aspect of her game that I like. Seems like a friendly gal as well, since she's completely controversial-less :)

Rita Grande: I love her smile. It's beautiful :hearts: I met her once before at the 2002 AO (before she faced against Jennifer Capriati in the 4th round) and she was extremely nice to her fans. And she has that pretty, tradiational Italian-look that makes her seem more like a Roman matriarch than a hot, sweaty tennis pro :)

Adriana Serra-Zanetti: I saw her at Bali a few years ago and, like Rita and Shinobu, she has a lovely smile :) It's a pity she hasn't had anything significant since her 2002 AO run, where she made it to the QF, and I do wish she would have similarly strong results in the near future. She's a nice gal and deserves widespread support. And it's interesting to note that she's one of the very few Italian players to have a double-handed backhand

Maria Sharapova: I don't think I need to spend much time explaining why I like her. She's hot. She's talented. And she's LOUD :)

Hmm...

Women

Lina Krasnoroutskaya - she was Elena's doubles partner, which first drew me, but she plays a good game, and seems like a nice person

Cara Black - great doubles player, serve volleys, favourite surface is grass.... need I say more?

Honorable mentions - Daniela Hantuchova, Emilie Loit, Kim Clijsters

Men

Jonas Bjorkman - nice guy, very funny, serves and volleys

Juan Carlos Ferrero - not sure exactly why I like him, but I do. Nice forehand doesn't hurt him

Marat Safin - plenty of entertainment, funny guy, good game to watch

I agree with you on the patriotism part even I feel very happy when Sania rises in the rankings and I think you phrased my reply in a wrong way; I didnít say that you should not like her coz she is 99 ranked every one starts from the bottom, and one day she will definitely break into the top25, what I wanted to say was that her arrogance is like sheís the world no1. Anyways this is a Like Thread so I do not want to get into a debate and spoil it for others (maybe we can discuss those in the Dislike Thread).

My group of soldiers- or favorite players, if you will:

Dementieva- :hearts: :hearts: :hearts:

Serena- Her sheer will to be great, her confidence and inner self belief- the results all speak for themselves

Kim- Of all players I just really love watching her play tennis- something about her is really magnetic.

Petrova- Of all my favorite players she's probably the most flawed, but when she's on, she's FIRE. I wish she could be 'ON' for longer periods of time.

Those (above mentioned) four players round off my list of ultimate favs... the others I like and cheer for can all be found in my siganture.
