Does anyone know whats going on with her  . Her results this year haven't been great. 2005 could have been a better year than 2004. Is her injury still bothering her?
If anyone know please reply.

She played well in Perth. That was indoors.
The heat and wind in Sydney affected her focus, and she cut her finger.
Then she lost to Dechy, V. Williams and Martinez.
Those are players who have some decent results.
Anastasia is not at her best. But she was 3-3 in the third against Venus, so she's not that far away.

That´s tennis...and that´s nastya. I don´t know if some of you guys still remember how she played before winning the French Open. She´s a human being, there are let-downs in life, no matter if you´re a pro-tennis star or a teacher (or a student;)).

The rollercoast will leave the low-point soon and go high up!!!

Well, she isn't playing very well, but the season just started so don't be afraid. Im sure that she will play good in this year. There are 3 Grand Slams left.

I think that is normal that players plays well and then not very good.

Her mental state is indeed unique. My uncle says he would like to have her as patient. He's a psyc. btw.
Look on the bright side. NO MORE CHOKES. She loses fair and square.

she needs some time out and she will realize she needs to be confident again , to be agressive , she knows she is playing like crap, and her ranking is going all the way down that should be enoguh to wake her up

Nastya, please start winning matches again

Nastya's not playing her best, and, as I recall, Martinez usually gives her fits. Unlucky to play her in the first round.

Nastya will turn it around. Probably at Lena D's expense.

But their last meeting at IW '04 was close.
She's off form, and it will hurt her chances to battle Maria for Russian #1.
But there will be many more chances for Anastasia to win tournaments.
She's always been like this. Expectations got very high after RG.
But this is reality. Up & down.

Right now, I want some wins in Dubai.
Then I want an up at RG, a repeat.

Nastya´s going to "open" the French Open this year right? Does the female title-defender has the honour to play the first match or the male one? Would be funny if she lost that one...well, not funny, ironic maybe, not funny.

Anything else dear? Should I pack these for you? :p
Really now, defending RG is Mission Impossible for any normal player, bare Nastya. I can't even remember who defended RG last.
But there's also Nastya's tricky mind at place. Sometimes you would say every match she plays is a flip of a coin. She's a bit unlucky in 2005 so far. Statistically, she should win some matches in Dubai (title maybe? opposing the early exit in Doha).
I don't know. I really don't have a clue what will happen to her. But I'll cheer for her as long as she plays tennis :worship: or tries to ;)

:haha: :haha: :haha: IRONIC? NO, IT WOULD BE NORMAL. Ironic it would be if she wins the title AGAIN. Because she sure has the LEAST chances in the top 10.
You know, Myskina sloppy start in 2005, no titles, early exists in several tourneys, should consider retire? :retard: and BANG she defends RG :timebomb:
A boy can dream right? Damn, if goldenlox affords dreaming why can't I?

@Lucas: It´s Nastya, you never know with her...why do I torture myself anway?!?

Almalyk
Feb 25th, 2005, 12:19 AM
We all tortue ourselves because she has the potential to win another GS and become number 1! Let's hope she can get there! But she is still young enough, and has plenty more tournaments to play in her career! Not everything can be, or needs to be done so soon!

Look let's not get so down here because whatever they're saying up
at GM is bullshit.

PDG? Ok- I've seen the vids courtesy of LADY, and she was playing
really well. It was simply that last lost service game in the 3rd set that
broke the set for Venus. Until that point there was nothing between, and
Venus was not looking sharp at all. Let's face it- those diamonds motivated
Venus like a demon to win. She wanted it- and played in Antwerp like
we haven't seen in years.

Doha? Nobody from Antwerp survived the time change, surface change
and according to Patty :tape: those heavy Dunlop balls. Remember
that last year Doha came after Dubai- it's the reverse this year. I do
believe that everyone who came from Antwerp will do way better in
Dubai once they settle into the groove with the drastic changes.

I agree that we should all calm down a bit. Maybe our own expectations were too high after last year, when it almost seemed that Nastya was close to invincible, but keep in mind that there are awesome players in the Top 10, the Top 20 even, and the competition is immense. As Greenout said, Nastya may very well have won the match against Venus in Antwerp, and let's not forget that she managed to catch up to Conchita in the second set of the Doha match nicely. Plus, Venus played very well in Antwerp, and Conchita played almost like in old days, so they were tough opponents, it's no shame to lose against such players. Anyway - I will not lose my optimism and my faith in Nastya's abilities, and I am very much looking forward to Dubai and the next tournaments. I would think (and hope) that Nastya is professional enough to look forward and not quarrel with herself over those lost matches. It's only February, and she will have more opportunities to show the world what a great player she is.

Indeed, Netsurfer, i am sure she will do bette rin Dubai but it is so dissapointing that she ins the only top 10 player with a low start this year. Bad times happen to everyone , so in Dubia Nastya will have a nice performance :D

She said that playing Fed Cup in December really hurt her. Maybe thats it.
One thing I noticed about Nastya is she is making a lot more errors now. Hopefully she can fix all of this.

This is Anastasia for you. She's not the most stable player in the world. Far from it. That's what's fun about watching her, it's the roller coaster ride.

I remember this one time I watched her play Slutpova and she was down 2-5, she came back and won the set 7-5. She won the match too. Slutpova left in tears.

Myskina will never be that rock, but she's an awesome player. :)
