It's the Elena we all love ;)

(Btw, anyone know where these were taken? I'm guessing it's in NYC, during Elena's 2003 victory at Amelie Island).

What a multi-talented lass, as long as she doesn't intend to put "Clown" in her CV.

Yeah, just imagine us looking back at her career at some moment in the future:
"Well, she might not have won a GS, but she sure made a great clown!"

Not that we'll ever be saying she didn't win a GS... :p

Just when I thought she'd never taken a bad pic.

Bad hair, bad outfit . . . I think that's actually the anti-Elena from a parallel universe.

Lena D. has often said that, unlike some of her peers, she has no interest in acting or modeling. However, as this recently discovered photo and accompanying review reveal, little Lena once dreamed of trodding the boards as Russia's leading actress

http://img59.exs.cx/img59/5536/elenkadementieva6sy.jpg (http://www.imageshack.us)[/QUOTE]

(Photo Caption: "Young Elena Dementieva is woefully miscast as Gretel in Moscow P.S. 121's production of "Hansel and Gretel."

"Anotherwise pleasant performance of "Hansel and Gretel" was spoiled by the bizarre performance of little Elena Dementieva in one of the title roles.

For starters, Miss Dementieva, age 9, insisted on clutching a tennis racket throughout the entire performance, during which she shyly muttered her lines, kept looking at her mother in the audience and insisted on calling the witch "Serena," (that part being ably and mischievously portrayed by Miss Anastasia Myskina). Miss Dementieva also, for some bizarre reason, punctuated her performance with a series of grunts and a dance routine that could charitably be described as unusual.

After the performance, the tearful actress claimed "she hated her costume" and that she suffered from a "heat related illness" brought on the by excessively bright footlights.

Young Miss Dementieva is doubtless talented at something, but after viewing her performance, this critic can assure her and anyone else that something is not theater."

The rest as they say, is history.

I just want an inkwell to dip those braids in.

I think she looks awful. Well, as awful as she could look. Okay, maybe cornrows would be worse . . . but to each his/her own.

No Musashino, pig tails on a grown woman is never 'cute'.
A simple pony tail is how Elena should wear her hair.

Well, I think that the best for her is a nice plait.

Some of the Swedish women playing in the last Women's World Cup made them look pretty good.

I think pigtails tend to look better on rounder faces, and Lena's is too long to pull it off.

While we're talking about Lena's hair does anyone else miss the bangs?

The bangs? Whatchamean?

"Bangs" in the US (not sure about other English speaking countries) are when a girl or woman has a fringe of hair cut straight across the eyebrows more or less. (Sorry if I'm being pedantic here--I wish I was as fluent in some other language as the people who post here are in English! But I know I've confused people more than once with American slang).

Anyway, the best explanation is to post a pic of Lena with the bangs in question. She had them when she was younger.

You're forgiven. :) Thnx for the explanation. :yeah:

It doesn't look bad, but I can't say it looks stunning either. Then again I guess Elena can make anything look good. (Or hideously bad --> Kuzzie :p)
