We have totally no chance that's for sure, i think 5-0 for the usa.
Let's hope that Kim and Justine play next year fedcup, or at the end of the year to stay in the world group. Justine doesn't play this year, that's for sure.

VS brengen zware kanonnen in stelling :tape:

Do you think Kim would play if Rodriguez would be coach?

I don't think Justine will play Fed-cup the next couple of years, with or without Carlos as Fedcup-coach. Maybe again at the end of her career... Anyway; Kim and Justine can do whatever they want and have to decide according to what they think is best :)

of course Kim wouldn't.. that's what I'm trying to say. If they would want Justine and Kim back in the fed cup team, they should pick a neutral coach.
I do think Justine likes to play for her country, and with the right coach she would play fed cup again (when it fits in the schedule)

From één teletext:

I don't know if this is the official selection. Maybe the journalist just mentioned the 4 highest ranked players? If it is the official selection then Butkiewicz should definitely be replaced my Maes  Leslie had shown terrible form this year whereas Caroline is really playing well again!

One Year Ago on the WTA:

April 19-22: No WTA matches played -- Fed Cup

April 25: Fed Cup - Belgium vs. Croatia
Els Callens def. Jelena Kostanic 6-2 3-6 6-4

At the time, we said, "And so Els Callens is a heroine again. Originally, Callens hadn't even been scheduled to play singles for Belgium; Kirsten Flipkens was in the #2 spot behind Kim Clijsters. That definitely did not work; Karolina Sprem had plastered her 6-2 6-0. And that left Belgium in a sort of a hole. Oh, going into this match, they were actually up 2-1; Kim Clijsters had picked up the second point of the tie with a 6-1 6-3 win over Sprem. But that meant Belgium had used up Clijsters, and Kostanic -- who is playing the best tennis of her career -- was ready to play second singles and doubles. Croatia still looked like it had the edge. And so, in came Callens. Not a clay player at all, and ranked well below Kostanic. But she won the first set with touch, and after a bit of a letdown, broke in the fifth game of the third set, and managed to serve it out from there. For Belgium, this was the survival tie. Get through this, and they could hope to have both Clijsters and Justine Henin-Hardenne for the next round. But they had to make the second round. And it was Callens, not Clijsters, who won the match that had to be won." Well, the logic was nice. The rest wasn't; Clijsters and Henin-Hardenne of course weren't around for round two. Nor are they around this year. Belgium will again be relying on Callens -- and she's spiralling down toward retirement. But they really don't have much choice.

:)

If we lose (duh), will we have to play lower-ranked countries? You know, like Israël, Denmark etc  That would be more fun for our players  We will be out of the World Group right?

Els Callens fell during practise yesterday and hurt both wrists. She might be replaced by Leslie Butkiewicz :o

:help:

Here's the article from Sportwereld.be :)

Eveline did reasonably well in the 2nd set IMO :) 6-0 6-2 is not bad for a player who'd never played a top-180 player before ;)

6-2 6-2 for Els is ok. Venus clearly wasn't playing her best tennis either.

Eveline showed some great stuff! She clearly has the strokes when she has time to execute them and she clearly has the serve. I didn't see it in this match but her volleys are nice too. On the other hand it was clear she was not used to the rythm and the deep balls. I think Eveline still has some work to do on her footwork and speed on court. You don't see it that often that players use that much kick on their second serves but Eveline used it well, she should just add a little bit more speed to the ball. But, well done Eveline :yeah:

In the 1st set Leslie's strokes weren't deep and hard enough, but she really adapted to Venus's game in the 2nd! She was even dominating in a couple of rallies :yeah: It's hard to believe that she hasn't won an official match all year long :( Let's hope the losing streak will end soon!

Yeah, I didn't see the first set, but I heard that was a close set too? (38 points for Venus, compared to 31 for Leslie?) Leslie sure did play a good match :) She mixed it up and with her topspin balls she gave Venus some troubles. I saw the Leslie vs. Venus match too, and like the LaDeux commentator said: sometimes it was hard to see who was world number 9 and who was number 363 :o

I was surprised about Leslie's level too. It was the first time I actually saw her play, and considering her long losing streak, I was expecting not so much :o But she really wasn't overpowered by Venus. Her strokes were quite good, she moved well and I saws some good tactical choices too. I hope she can gain confidence from this match, because from what I have seen, she can do better than she's currently doing! :)
