Eva is currently playing the Copa Colsanitas Cup in Bogota, where she plays in the QF ag. Lourdes Dominguez Lino from Spain.....
On her way to the QF Eva beat the no 4 seed María Antonia Sánchez Lorenzo from Spain in the 2nd round and in the 1th round Eva beat Maria Emilia Salerni from Argentina
Eva's current position is the 158 position, I have hope that Eva has the will to crack the top 100 this year......, if she continues to win in Bogota the top 100 will come near
Eva's next tournament is Acapulco where she has to play in the qualifying
GO Eva, Beat Lourdes and reach the SF in Bogota, hopefully you'll beat Zuluaga afterwards
JDEM Eva!!!!!! :bounce: :bounce:

Eva lost to Sveta Kuznetsova with 2-6 and 3-6, so IW is already over for Eva  but she played a great tourney, by coming thru the qualies and winning in the first round from Tammy Tanasugarn, i think Eva's ranking will go up, hopefully she'll reach the to 130 and the top 120 soon enough and crack the top 100 by the end of the year.
Not sure if Miami is the next tourney for Eva, i am not really sure which tourneys Eva is going to play....

Eva's ranked 111th this week, that means a direct entry into the USO which starts next week...
Eva has a very tough draw by drawing the no.9 seed Nadia Petrova in the first round, if Eva might win it (i highly doubt it, but i hope she can make the upset) a 2nd round matchup with Marissa Irvin or Aiko Nakamura possibly awaits...

Oh, I just discovered this thread :o
Eva Birnerova is one of my fave players; even more when I watched her against Venus at Wimbledon
she plays qualies this week at the Kremlin Cup (I)
Q1 Eva Birnerova d. Ekaterina Bychkova 6-4 6-1
Q2 Eva Birnerova d. (3)Katarina Srebotnik 6-3 6-2
Q3 Eva Birnerova vs (6)Iveta Benesova
she plays doubles with Andreea Vanc :)
1 Eva Birnerova/Andreea Vanc vs Tina Krizan/Jennifer Russell
I think Eva can beat Iveta to qualify for the main draw
good luck, Eva :D

New Entry on www.evabirnerova.com
Hello everyone,
After my first appearance at Eastbourne where I played a really good first round (6:1 7:5 vs Nakamura) I had some problems with my knee during my second match and made my way to Wimbledon earlier than expected.
Now we are getting ready for my first direct main draw start in singles and doubles - actually we (Yulia Beygelzimer and me) were very lucky with the doubles because we were one position out of main draw until yesterday :o] In singles I will play the 28th seed, Sofia Arvidsson and in doubles the 9th seeded Kveta Peschke and Francesca Schiavone. For the first time I will also try to enter the mixed doubles with Lukas Dlouhy on Wednesday. So fingers crossed for me...
So I hope you will follow my matches on

Another great entry, she speaks every nice english with a nice word choice :)Thanks for pointing this out, a nice entry! I got to see Eva's singles matches at Wim this year, and thought she played very well. She was a bit unlucky against Zheng, especially as she had set points in the first set tie break, the second one of which Zheng saved with a lucky shot that hit the net and just dropped over the other side. Also, instead of apologising for this, Zheng celebrated with a clenched fist, which you could see annoyed Eva! Anyway, here's a few pics I took...

Hi Everybody,
after a nice time at Wimbledon I'm now in Cologne where we mostly stop in between tournaments because Tim lives there and its easier to travel from Germany.. We decided to take some time to prepare for the next tournaments. Honestly its good not to travel for some days but its really exhausting because I had one day off and had to work hard :o (But I know it will help to improve again and I can't wait to step on court for my next match.
Take Care

Timea Bacsinszky SUI vs (wc)Magdalena Rybarikova SVK

Hello everybody,
Finally I ended my 2006 season with quite comfortable rankings and look forward to have a good start in 2007. For this reason we'll already leave on 13th Dec to go to Auckland and have a perfect preparation. Three weeks of intensive work should get me ready. And if you all cross fingers for me to have good draws.. :o)
I wish you all a great christmas time and a happy new year 2007.
Eva needs a good start, she has 75k Ortisei to defend
her last weeks were not good, so hopefully she will train hard!

Hey everyone
Just back from down under I wanted to renew my little reports to keep you informed whwtas going on. After a good preparation in Auckland I was reaklly down seeing myself lose first rounds in Auckland and Hobart in doubles and sincles. Not really confident but still knowing that I'm on the right track we made our way to Melbourne. And it should become my best Grand Slam result so far - winning to Sucha in 1st and Schruff in 2nd round, just stopped by some lady called Mauresmo :o) :awww: With a new career ranking in the top 60 and not so many points to defend in the first half of the year I'm looking forward to the next tournaments.
Eva was jogging and warming up right behind us, I had dropped my waterbottle behind the stands and when she stopped there to do some stretching, I asked if she could give my bottle back, she smiled :) and said of course, I wished her good luck in the forthcoming match :) although her opponent Emma Laine is my countrywoman and favourite in that match ;)

thats nice :) eva is a really nice girl actually :D Were you impressed at all of her against Laine?
I just read her website and she is taking a break from tennis to get her motivation back  She seems optimistic and said at the end: "When there are bad times, good times will follow"
Good luck Eva

Poor Eva, I hope that a bit of a break will give her some time to get her confidence and motivation back - She's had a rough year, so I think taking a little bit of time to relax and re-focus will be a good thing.
Saw her in Toronto last month and you could really see that she was just not feeling confident with her game right now. Got beat quickly by Olaru in qualies, made a lot of unforced errors. In doubles she showed more flashes of her potential, but in the key points she wasn't able to produce enough, and she just looked pretty frustrated by that. Real sweet girl though, the crowd definitely warmed up to her that day :)

Hi, here is Evas newest update on her website. It will take some days to have it online... But when I saw that you reacted so fast to her first tournament 2008, I thought I should update you first :) She is doing much better and is in quite good physical shape. But of course it will need some matches for her to get used to compete again...
She is in Petange, Luxemburg now and told me to say Hi to everybody and say thanks for the support.
Greets, Tim

Hello Everybody,
I am really sorry that it took me so long to update my website. After a good start in 2007 I started to have problems with my wrist and finally had to stop playing after the US Open. It took me quite a long time to find the right treatment and I had to take a break for almost 9 month. Step by step it?s getting better and I am happy to be able to compete again. Obviously my ranking dropped a lot and I will have to start on smaller tournaments to fight my way back... But I am ready to take this challenge.
I want to thank everybody who supported me in this tough period. I also found this forum on the internet . (http://www.tennisforum.com/showthread.php?t=152665&page=14) To see that there are people caring about me and still believe in me made me really happy. Thanks for that.
Take care

Indeed it's great to see Eva back. :)
After playing some Bundesliga matches early in the summer she competed in three challengers over the last few weeks. And though she "only" wraped up three wins in these challengers she seems to be definitely back (and hopefully healthy). She also lost against compatriot Ondraskova in the US Open qualifying but look at the lady in my ava. It has taken her nearly 18 months to be really back to where she belongs but she did it and so will Eva.

Time to update this thread and to keep it alive ;)
Nice to see a new fan, welcome Jochebel!
Well from what i've read on her website www.evabirnerova.com, eva had a wrist-injury last year and my guess is that she's now playing the smaller tournaments (the 75.000- 100.000 k tourneys) in order to get where she left off before her injury...
Yesterday i've send her an fanmail via the mailadress on her official website, :) it might be a nice idea if other fans would write some fanmail as well, i am sure that she would like that :)
