I'm glad Shinobu has finally decided to enter more tournaments than she used to . She's an immensely talented and competitive tennis player, and she's more than capable of winning several singles titles and achieving at least a higher-end top-20 ranking. I think maybe her inconsistency stems from the lack of matches she participated in the pas, so hopefully a busier schedule this year will help add more points to her ranking :)

And I believe Akiko and Saori are going to have a solid '05 season. Akiko's hasn't done badly so far - her recent wins over the no.4 seed and the potential future Dutch star, Michaela, should add to whatever confidence she's garnered so far :)

I hope Ai will recover soon! What a terrible way to start the year off: an injury on her left ankle plus 4 straight losses. I hope this isn't a sign of a slump  Get well soon Ai!

And ex_hopman, I agree that Saori seems to be playing better than last year. She did well at the Pan Pacific Open. Hopefully her solid form there will help boost her confidence and lead to many more match victories :) Ganbatte!!!

Ai is in a slump, and I believe she will remain in a slump for a large chunk of the year. This is eerily reminiscent of her dreadful 1999, 2000 and 2001 years where she had a large number of early round defeats and did not have enough strong results to balance it out. I just hope Ai isn't thinking of retiring soon: she still needs to win Tier I titles, win the AO doubles GS, reach the QF at RG and the USO, reach a GS SF, and take a H2H lead against the Scavanger.

Shinobu's had a couple of disappointing 1st round losses, but I hope she can achieve big results (and big wins) at IW and Miami. She's getting close to breaking into the top 20. And who knows: more big results and big tournaments and big wins over top-ranked players might boost her confidence and lead to winning singles titles.

Hey, are there any good Japanese message boards or what? I've
visited some, and they are really dull. I tried to post something, and
got zero responses. I'm so tired of reading about how "CUTE" David
Nalbandian and the ATP players are! :tape: Where's the WTA boards?

Check my H2HQ Japanese Justine site out. I need opinions here.
Help me out. What do you think? And yes, I left that rude
"At the Movies" joke from the H2HQ forum.

First of all, I don't think it's remotely possible to find a 'ii' or 'nigiyaka' Japanese message board for tennis. I think we're all aware that ever since Kimiko-chan left the WTA Tour (I am still mad at her for leaving so early), the Japanese public's interest in the sport dwindled - severely, I might add.

I was chatting with a Japanese friend of mine and even though she's quite a tennis player herself, she admits she finds it hard to concentrate on the professional side of the sport, one thing being that the media there has pretty scant coverage compared to say America where Andy Roddick and the U.S. Open can pretty much generate a tennis fever and hence a big ratings bonanza. So little public interest means little tennis fans, sadly :(

Second: Great site!

Third: I really don't want to admit this, but Justine looks very beautiful.

There. I've said it. :)
