Anne Kremer, Claudine Schaul and Mandy Minella are actually preparing season 2008 and there was a nice article in the newspaper recently. :)

Anne Kremer (LUX/81)

- Balance 2007:

Anne Kremer: "I am very satisfied with last season where I've played solid tennis. To finish at WTA position 81 proves that one has done much right during the past months."

- Highlights 2007:

Anne Kremer: "The highlights of 2007 are the second round at the Australian Open as a qualifier, the quarterfinals of Budapest and the semifinals at the Tetra Karkhov Ladies Cup. In addition to that I showed good performances at the Fortis Championships in front of home crowd."

- Disappointments 2007:

Anne Kremer: "Especially at the Grand Slams Roland Garros and Wimbledon but also at Proximus Diamond Games in Antwerp where I've lost in the first round, I had expected more."

- Fed Cup 2007:

Anne Kremer: "I am glad to play once in a year in a team with Claudine and Mandy. I have played my first Fed Cup match with 15 and since then hardly missed a match. We are facing up an Olympic year and certainly I could have renounced a Fed Cup participation in own interest but it's making so much fun that I don't want to miss Fed Cup. I think we have great chances this year to realize good results."

- Preparation to 2008:

Anne Kremer: "I am in a good shape at the moment. The foot sprain I got at the French Interclubs Championships don't hinder me, and everything is working alright now."

- Schedule debut 2008:

Anne Kremer: "First of all I will prepare for Auckland (ASB Classic), followed by Hobart (Moorilla Hobart International) and the Australian Open."

- Aims 2008:

Anne Kremer: "A participation at the Olympic Games is my big aim. I need a good start into the season in order to realize this, moreover I have some points to defend. If I can ensure my ranking, the National Olympic Committee (COSL) could ask for a wild card and then I have good chances to get a wild card from ITF."

Claudine Schaul (LUX/479)

- Balance 2007:

Claudine Schaul: "When I came after a fissure of crucial ligament and of miniskus (German: Kreuzbandriss und Miniskusriss) half of the season was already over. I didn't know what was awaiting me after such a long break and the most difficult was to realize that it needed some time in order to feel well on court and improve in the rankings. I was happy to be able to play again and try to get the right rythm."

- Highlights 2007:

Claudine Schaul: "The moment of my comeback has marked me the most. I was in the quarters of ITF 25k event in Saulgau but wouldn't see that as a highlight."

- Disappointments 2007:

Claudine Schaul: "I was disappointed about my first tournaments where I lost in first rounds for sure. I was too impatient after my comeback. Furthermore I was hindered by several shoulder injuries."

- Fed Cup 2007:

Claudine Schaul: " I think we have a homogeneous team for January. We have to wait what teams we draw and what players the several countries will nominate."

- Preparation to 2008:

Claudine Schaul: "I am training at the moment with Anne. Although we don't have the same schedule we are both training with Marc Dollendorf. Together training is much more fun."

- Schedule debut 2008:

Claudine Schaul: "I will play the same events as Mandy (25k events in United States) and we will try to train together at these tournaments.

- Aims 2008:

Claudine Schaul: "I will attack again this year and hope to improve my ranking as far as possible."

Mandy Minella (LUX/405)

- Balance 2007:

Mandy Minella: "In the first season half I didn't find my rythm because of knee problems and physic issues but at the end of the year my form has become better and thus I'm optimistic for 2008."

- Highlights 2007:

Mandy Minella: "In Denain and Bordeaux I was satisfied with my game strategy but it wasn't enough yet for my best performance."

- Disappointments 2007:

Mandy Minella: "A big disappointment was certainly the many knee problems, who didn't allow me during weeks to play without pain. At the Games of Small States I had expected more than bronze medal."

- Fed Cup 2007:

Mandy Minella: "I was content about my showing at this year's Fed Cup and am looking forward to my next matches."

- Preparation to 2008:

Mandy Minella: "Together with the other members of Mouratoglou Academy I was in Val d'Isère for a week where I've worked on my physique. Tomorrow we will fly to Mauritius to train in the heat. I am feeling great at the moment."

- Schedule debut 2008:

Mandy Minella: "I will play my first events in the United States, two 25000 $ events in Saint Leo and Surprise."

- Aims 2008:

Mandy Minella: "I want to be ranked between 100 and 150 after the upcoming season."

Interview with Luxembourg's newspaper Tageblatt after Mandy's 2nd round win:

Q: Mandy, congratulations on your great success. After this straight second set victory one can certainly speak of your biggest success of your career, or not?
Mandy: Yes, it's without a doubt the biggest success of my career. I'm very happy and can't yet realize this win. Pironkova was already Wimbledon semifinalist. I will try to continue this way.

Q: Where was the key of success in yesterdays' match?
Mandy: I would say it was in my concentration. I was very concentrated during the whole match. I have played very well tactically and was improving after every point. At the beginning I was very nervous but I have really played myself into the match. But I was afraid that I would pay for the several missed break points in the first game. Thank god it came different.

Q: You seemed to suffer less from the heat of 43 degrees than your opponent. Especially after the breakdown of Azarenka on her own serve the degrees were a big theme ...
Mandy: It was very difficult to play under this enormous heat today. Pironkova had to call the physiotherapist at 4:6 0:1 to receive sodium chloride (Kochsalzlösung). Weirdly I suffered less under the heat as against Hercog in the first round where the degrees were 35. I seem to accustom to it.

Q: Do you think you could realize perhabs a similar extraordinary run than Gilles Muller (who reached quarterfinals in 2008)?
Mandy: No, I don't want to compare myself with Gilles Muller. His achievement was a top performance. However I am looking from match to match and would like to go my own way. For me everything is still bonus.

Q: The bonus is called Venus Williams in the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Mandy (laughs) : I can't imagine this. I don't know how I should enter on Friday evening in a full stadium against this excellent player. I will just try to enjoy the atmosphere. This will be magnificient.

Q: Will you revide your season aim top 130 once again?
Mandy: I think I have reached the top 130 now. I am very happy about this. I have reached my aim and will now try to win as many points as possible. Maybe I can get direct entry into the Australian Open.

Q: How does your season schedule look like?
Mandy (laughs) : For next week I have planned a 25k event in France, but I think that I will cancel it. I didn't have dreamed of such a run in New York. Next season I will play WTA tournaments. I will change from the small ITF events to the bigger ones to busily collect points.

Did Claudine retire?

Dec 22nd, 2010, 05:54 PM
No, Claudine hasn't announced a retirement but neither has there been news if or when she will be back on court.
She is suffering from a bad injury at the moment and got a surgery during summer. That's what I read months ago but no updates since then in the newpapers.

She was commentating Luxembourg final on TV but there was no talk about her injury or her future plans. That's strange.

The fact that she was present at the award ceremony gives me hope though that she will be back on court one day.

Dec 24th, 2010, 11:34 AM
Interview with Mandy Minella in the newspaper Luxemburger Wort:

In the past months Mandy Minella has experienced a provisional highlight of her career. The 25 year old could advance from world rank 241 to 136, with a high rank at 128.

Furthermore Minella has won two ITF tournaments (Lutz/USA and Vaihingen/GER) and stormed into third round of the US Open as a qualifier. Nevertheless she seems less satisfied with her past season as one could expect.

Q: What do you consider your most overwhelming and what your less beautiful moments while looking back at the year 2010? Would you do several things differently?
Mandy: I have definitely learnt that I have to organize my season better. I've noticed that I need a little break from time to time because my body is sometimes showing signs of exhaustion Because of keeping on playing during such phases I couldn't realize good results during several weeks. I will take a break the week after the Fed Cup in the upcoming year for instance. In the past I've made the mistake to travel to the next tournaments immediately after the tough Fed Cup encounters.

I have to improve my grass game too. This season I haven't played one bad match on grass but still couldn't get victories on that surface. Of course there have also been positive moments: I'm satisfied with my level of play which I've reached during the past months. The results have been good and without a doubt I can look back at my best season.

Q: You are getting closer to your aim, the entry into the top 100 of the world. What are your feelings about this?
Mandy: I am not impatient and I won't content myself with reaching the top 100. I want more and will have new aims but first of all I need to enter top 100.

Q: The preparation for the upcoming year is in full progress. What have you worked on during the off season?
Mandy: I have approached the physical preparation differently compared to the past. The stamina and power training have been the major parts. I have built on muscle mass in order to get a more solid game. I need more power than a smaller player in order to get in the right shot position while being in motion.

Q: How does your schedule for next season look like?
Mandy: I will fly to New Zealand on Sunday and will play the ASB Classic in Auckland (220.000 $). After that I will play the Moorilla Hobart International (220.000 $) and the Australian Open (9,2 Million $).

Dec 24th, 2010, 12:08 PM

Bovina vs. Daniilidou
Kremer vs. [23] Bratchikova

Tough opponents awaiting in possible second qualy round with either Bovina or Daniilidou. At least first round is doable.

Feb 28th, 2011, 10:23 AM
Great fight Anne! :worship:

Veteran battle Anne vs Kimiko  - Like them both too but will cheer for Anne here.

Mar 1st, 2011, 08:01 AM
anne and kimiko playing right now...the first few games are already quite interesting, so this could be a good match. kimiko playing a little more aggressive and putting more pressure on anne but also making a few more unforced errors. anne looks really good and is moving well, she seems to be in great shape, only the bandage on her left thigh worries me a bit. 3-3 in the first set right now. but it's great to see how fit they both still are at their age. come on ladies, keep it up! so the better one will win! gl to both!

Mar 1st, 2011, 08:16 AM
anne lost the first set 46. it was a good set from both players until anne's last service game at 45. she made two double faults and kimiko had a winner and won the set with a netcord.

Mar 1st, 2011, 10:00 AM
yay, another great fight! anne beat kimiko date-krumm 46 62 76. in the second set, kimikos game fell apart, and anne played some good points. in the third set, anne was leading with a double break and was serving for the match at 54 and served a double fault on match point. kimiko broke back, then held her serve after fighting off 2 break points from anne, the anne held again, and in the tie breaker kimiko made a few too many errors, anne played solid again! sorry for kimiko, she really needed that win for her confidence, but anne needed it for her ranking points!
so congrats anne, keep up the good shape and gl in R2 against lertcheewakarn. very good chances to win another match!

Mar 1st, 2011, 01:11 PM
Great win for Anne :woohoo:

She could have had it easier though being up *4:1 and *5:4 30:0 in third set but somehow got nervous and let Kimiko back in the match. She is in good form and showed a promising performance here. Well deserved win!

Good luck against Lertcheewakarn. A quarterfinal would be huge, winnable match for Anne if she stays focused and isn't too tired. :)

Mar 2nd, 2011, 09:25 AM
match between jovanovski and radwanska will be finished in a few minutes, next on is Anne against Lertcheewakarn! gl anne, keep up the good shape!

Mar 2nd, 2011, 11:38 AM

Kremer def. Lertcheewakarn 76 63.

wow, what a match. both played quite good. Lertcheewakarn putting a lot of pressure on Anne, but also making more unforced errors. Anne played some amazing points today and got nearly every ball back. Only the linesmen were disappointing today. from my point of view, there were a lot of false calls on both sides. but in the end, anne won and is in the QF. she'll move up from no. 169 to around no. 145 for sure next week. and what a great week so far:

QR1: Anne Kremer def. Vanessa Henke 62 62

R2: Anne Kremer def. Noppawan Lertcheewakarn 76 63

she plays either kleybanova or krajicek in the QF. she must be tired after these 5 matches. hope she gets at least some rest so she can give her best tomorrow in the quaters. gl anne!

Mar 2nd, 2011, 12:01 PM
Yes, what a week from Anne! :woohoo:

She knows how to win these tiebreaks. During second set her serve went off but she broke back each time. Her agility has been really impressive today.

Now there are 2 Luxies in top 150 for the first time since 2005. :yeah:

Allez Anne in the quarterfinals!

Mar 4th, 2011, 07:24 AM
gl against krajicek today. it's a very good opportunity to advance to the semis. kleybanova would have been a lot harder! anne is 2-0 against krajicek in their head to head, winning both matches in 2007. so gl and get to the semis!

Mar 4th, 2011, 10:41 AM
anne lost 26 36.
it was a good chance to get to the semis, but anne was probably still tired from her last matches!anyway, still a great week, keep up the good shape! so congrats for improving to around no. 145 next week!

i'm not 100% sure, but i think mandy is just taking a practice lesson outside my window at the schüttler/waske tennis university...i'm doing an internship at the hessian tennis federation, and the schüttler/waske tennis university is playing on the courts, too, and right now it seems mandy is playing (at least he called her mandy, and because she played stuttgart this week, it seems quite possible that she's here....)
she looks fit and confident.....playing with sebastian rieschick right now. so i'll watch her play a little more... :)

Apr 21st, 2011, 01:47 PM
ok, so i checked it, it really is mandy...like i said, she looks fit and plays quite good and powerful. but alex waske is quite strict and is pushing her to work even harder. so i hope it helps her and she'll be stronger in her next tournaments!
