www.limewire.com (http://www.limewire.com)

there's also ares, and I use BearShare, it's great for downloading music fast with great quality but horrible at videos.

I find eMule to be a pain in the ass, so don't use that. I use to have Kazaa too, but the majority of the songs I downloaded were screwed up

Shareaza.

It sucks in many ways, but at least it doesn't fuck up your computer. :p

Now that you've got hi-speed, you can't wait until you "pirate" some songs. ;) I use aMule. :)

www.bi-torrent.com <-- getting close to suprnova levels of files available. www.torrentreactor.net is pretty good too. Suprnova's 'replacement' was supposed to be a p2p sharing program called eXeem. Don't d/l it from the suprnova site as it too comes with spyware, you can get a lite (spy/malware free) version of it, just google 'exeem lite'. It hasn't worked at all for me, but some people apparently can get files off it. Also, there's mIRC too ofcourse ;)

Sorry but what does "Torrent" mean? Or is it just the same thing?
Limewire is pretty good. :)

torrent as in bittorrent which is a novel way of d/led files. To d/l torrents, get a program like BitComet (www.bitcomet.com) or TorrentStorm (www.torrentstorm.com) or Azureus (http://azureus.sourceforge.net) and then you can go to any of the sites listed above.

GoDominique, if you want a simple Kazaa-like program which is more stable and has many fast and safe files, try Ares, which connectes to the Warez network www.aresgalaxy.com

If you want a large variety of files, try www.dcplusplus.sf.net, or www.emule.sf.net, but be warned that these take patience and are harder to learn to use and master. I personally use Ares for single mp3s and videos, and Dc++ and Emule for rarer or more taxing files. :)

Hope that was of help.

If you want to use torrents, use www.azureus.sf.net

By the way, DONT USE:

Kazaa - under any circumstance
WinMX - unless you like seeing everything with Queued next to it
Any Kazaa clone - iMesh, Grokster
eXeem - Ridiculously bad program.
Shareaza - Has spyware registry keys

I personally use Ares. I found it on www.downloads.com, then searched Ares, and you can download it there.

Bearshare.

Limewire gives you incomplete downloads, and winmix everytime i try is so slow :o

Warez P2P, because it's the only one that works on the university network. It sucks in all aspects. Virusses, not many songs, slow downloading, long waiting times...

Shareaza.

It sucks in many ways, but at least it doesn't fuck up your computer. :p

I beg to differ, this program installed some crap in my shared folder that I couldn't get rid off.

Go with LimeWire
 In my experience, it's even faster than Azureus and other Torrent clients and you don't get penalized for not uploading. :o

OMG....bit torrent is the best! You can be 100% sure that the album youīre getting has a perfect quality and furthermore itīs brilliant for movies and especially for tv-shows. Always has the lastest stuff, you donīt need more. itīs just a bit annoying if you just want to have one song and if you have to pay a lot for traffic as you also have to upload a lot.

Well, thatīs what I heard from a friendīs friendīs best friendīs cousin or something;)

I love bittorent. I have so many albums loaded up in my mp3 player because of it. They have everything. I burn movies, etc. I'm starting to think it's an addiction now.

LimeWire's the latest thing.

WinMX is soo old.

Torrents are the best. You know you're not downloading crap!
I just discovered them early 2004 looking for missed episodes of a tv show.

It is true that Winmx queues a lot. I just use it because I dont know any other ones. I will try bittorrent. I like the ones that have a wide variety of songs, because most of the time I'm looking up songs that not a lot of people know or have, and I want somewhere where they'll be available at all times.

I second Bearshare....it's the best after Kazaa which is companies search on quite alot looking for illegal versions of their files.

www.download.com (http://www.download.com) and type in bearshare.

Ares Lite is spyware free but it doens't have the community (which not many people want anyway).

Ares has a community feautre, which is nice but not necessary and has spyware.
