I love his movies! :wavey:
"Bad Education" was good, but I think his best work to date is still "All About my Mother" :hearts: what a great movie!

I'm with you guys, Pedro is an awesome director :worship: 'Todo sobre mi madre' and 'Hable con ella' are among my all-time favourite movies, and his last work has been blessed with a stunning performance from Gael García Bernal :worship:
I must confess I'm not quite as familiar with his older works, though I've seen - and liked a lot - some of them. I like the fact he has evolved through the years, his early films were even more extreme, in the way he used his characters and he built the plot...

Besides, Pedro is a symbol of Spain, to my eyes... and I happen to be very fond of Spain, so I inevitably feel pretty close to what is portraited on screen. And even a quick scene shot outdoors in Barcelona or Madrid brings memories back, and that makes watching his movies kinda sweet :D

I know :) ! The BBC also considered "All About my Mother" as his prime play... they criticized "Bad Education" for its noir aspects and casual dealing of pedophilia...

I actually though really dislike 'Tie Me Up Tie Me Down'...I hate the storyline and don't like any of the characters. I think it was one of his first feature films.

I have only seen "All about my mother".

Really weird - if someone had told me about the plot I would have said :cuckoo: and never watched it. :o

But I came across it accidentally on TV and then really liked it. :)

I LOVED Bad Education! I have to disagree with the BBC's criticism of the film for its alleged casual treatment of pedophilia. In fact, I found its portrayal of that theme to be quite the opposite...

And thanks to this film, I now have a HUGE crush on Gael García! :hearts:

I like his movies a lot. His style is so distinctive.

First one I saw was Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (with a young Antonio Banderas). laughed like crazy.

I agree, Carne Trémula is my favourite, I find it impressive, especially Angela Molina, too bad the main character, Liberto Rabal sucks big time :o
I love as well Bad Education, it's great, I can't understand why Gael hasn't even nominated for the Spanish academy awards, he's fantastic in each role he has.
All about my mother is great for the bunch of great actresses in there, Cecilia Roth is amazing, and the scene when his soon is run over is
About his old films Pepi, Lucy.... is surprising to be that old; he showed there he was a step before the rest of the country.
Matador is great as well, one of my faves, same with Atame.
I have Dark habits as my big goal, never seen it but it promises so much, I even bought the DVD but left it in Spain :fiery:
Pedro's new project for those who are interested will be "Volver" where he will be joining some of his actress as Cecilia and Penelope.

Let's go by parts:
A film every year.... not at all, he's not Woody Allen, he goes every 2 or 3 years, that's enough ;)
DVD boxset??? like anyother director;)
Nobody likes him enough.... well sure he's not loved by everybody, but that happens to any person in this world, whatever your name is ;)
