a video and they gut this guys hands and feet off. I didnt really watch it, just enought to see that it was real. I was just wondering whether you people think that that is a fair punishment for theft of other minor crimes.. perhaps I am wrong here for saying minor, I mean really theft is very detrimental to society, right? so Maybe a thief's hands and feet should be sliced off. Also it might benefit the perpetrators of this act because they will feel better afterwards and will have taught the person and society a lesson. In addition, a person without hands or feet will have trouble getting their 'hands' on more stolen goods. I guess I waiver back and forth on this issue. On one hand, you know who is to judge. This is how people handle thier affairs and why should we judge them. but on the other hand doesnt it sound a bit oudated? perhaps stonings and dismemberment worked 2000 years ago but much of the world as ceased that type of behaviour. I will do some research on google to try do discover the pluses and minuses of this ritual cutting. If you have any insights please discuss them in this thread. i dont know exactly where these practices occur? i can provide a link to an incident of this behaviour, but i dont think it is appopriate for the wtaworld audience. You can pm me if you would like the link, but i strongly suggest that you dont watch it. Lastly, i wonder whether these practices were adopted based on a democratic method, or if they are just totalitarian evil-like practices. Maybe they should vote democratically, you know ask the people if they want to dismember thieves. Or maybe thats just my westerncentric prejudice? It would just be nice to see people tried by a jury of the peers rather than arbitrarily dismembered. They could always go to jail and show that they are sorry and not do it again, right?

My google search only revealed servering hands and feet, removing eyes, and stoning women in accordance with Quran law. That leads me to believe that the images in question originate in Iran or another Muslim country. I will continue to search on google but I admit it is discouraging and that this practice only exists there.

Well no.. just jail.

But if it's murder, they should be killed, like euthanased. Not stoned or something... what are we in the B.C. times?

Yes i think so. Isnt it counterproductive to society? After you have no hands, how are you going to find a job? doing what? Painting postcards with your mouth? Realistically speaking it is true that a thief with no hands has been taught a lesson. Additionally, it will IMO discourage other people from stealing who are inclined to do so. I am still searching on Google, but so far it appears that only Moslim countries like Iran and possibly Saudi Arabia and many others practice this. I dont think this ritual occurs in democratic countries though it appears that hundreds and hundreds of years ago, more barbaric practices did occur. It also appears that through the democratic system, or through fair elections and likewise, these practices were voided out.

This is a case where the punishment far outweighs the crime.:fiery:

no offense, but the quran law is bullshit. i dont even think its the quran law. its just some moronic islam men in third world countries who do things the way they want and use the qu'ran as an excuse.

the only time where i believe severing a body part is perfectly fine is rape. cut off that dick.
