Jacques Villeret was probably the most well known and appreciated comedian over the last 30 or so years and starred in the films, Crime au Paradis, Soupe au choux, et le Diner de Con. He was adored and admired by millions and made all french and French speakers laugh. his big round blue eyes and sense of humour were remarkable; IM no writer..... if you know who he is than Im sure you are very sad about this. I met him 2 years ago on the champs elysées, he slapped my brother on the back and my brother kind of poked him in the eye.... he was a very funny man and it was interesting to meet him. A hard drinking and hard smoking man he died of a hemorraige.

"the most well known" isn't rally true, but I really loved the guy, especially in his theatre performances, although le diner de cons, which they showed again yesterday was fantastic too...and who doen't remember la soupe aux choux?
he was one of the greates, it's just sad that, like so often (jean carmet comes to mind) the critics only started to praise him for what he was when he died.... a very sad day indeed
