Her backhand is a top level shot. Forehand not too bad either though it seems to be inconsistent. And she had more variety than I was expecting with some great dropshots and decent netplay. I look forward to her progress in the future. I hope she can make some noise at the Open and the rest of the week here. selyoink Aug 22nd, 2007, 09:13 PM Agnes plays a qualifier in first round of US Open. If she wins that it either Krajicek or Alberta Brianti. Third round would likely be Petrova. If Agnes can play like she did against Daniela today she could definitely make the 3rd round and trouble Petrova. Mandula Aug 23rd, 2007, 12:21 PM Awesome Agnes Defeats Daniela Day 4 at the Pilot Pen Tennis presented by Schick saw contrasting fortunes for the event's Top 2 seeds, with Svetlana Kuznetsova coming from a set down to defeat Agnieszka Radwanska, while on the other side of the draw Daniela Hantuchova became this week's first major casualty when she was bundled out by qualifier Agnes Szavay. No.2 seed Hantuchova also took on one of the Tour's brightest teenage prospects in the second round. The 24-year-old Slovakian was paired with the ever-improving Hungarian Agnes Szavay, who delivered one of the performances of her career to defeat her higher-ranked opponent, 75 63. "Obviously I'm really happy to beat a Top 10 player," Szavay said, "and this result is great for my confidence. I knew I had a chance going into the match and luckily today I served and moved great and I could get the win." The victory was the 18-year-old Szavay's first win over a Top 10 player and see's her advance to a fifth quarterfinal of 2007. Here she will meet another of the year's outstanding performers, Alona Bondarenko, after the No.8 seed from Ukraine overcame a second-set blip to knock out Sania Mirza, 63 06 63. What a wonderful week for her, it's such a shame that it ended on this heartbreaking note ... Poor Agi . I hope she will be fine for the US Open because she has a real chance to reach her first QF, she would deserve it so much ! In normal conditions, Agi would destroy the weaponless Kloesel but with this injury .... selyoink Aug 26th, 2007, 02:39 PM If her body cooperates she should have little trouble against Kloesel. I'm glad she didn't get one of the more dangerous wild cards. Confident Aug 26th, 2007, 03:18 PM Oh, poor Ági:sad: She played the best of her carreer and for a while, the best of Hungarian tennis history as well. I really hope she can recover soon to continue this fantastic year!;) Derek. Aug 26th, 2007, 10:39 PM I hope she is okay for the US Open. Sally Todd Aug 27th, 2007, 04:56 AM Go Agnes! :clap2: I hope she recovers to make a run at the Open. I first saw Agnes play last fall at a Challenger event in San Francisco and was very impressed. She has a dynamic and individual game. I'm happy to see her having an awesome year and hope she keeps it up. Good luck at the Open! :D Mandula Aug 27th, 2007, 05:27 AM Ági will play doubles with Vladka, and they are the 14th seed. 1st round: Ági/Vladka - Jackson/Rubin Vefci Y Aug 27th, 2007, 08:42 AM Any news about her with US Opne? jelena_jankovic Aug 27th, 2007, 09:24 AM Ági will play doubles with Vladka, and they are the 14th seed. 1st round: Ági/Vladka - Jackson/Rubin They had such a great year togehter!:worship: They really deserve to be seeded!:bounce: So let's win at least 2 rounds here:drool: And Agi get fit please!!! Mandula Aug 27th, 2007, 12:29 PM They had such a great year togehter!:worship: They really deserve to be seeded!:bounce: So let's win at least 2 rounds here:drool: And Agi get fit please!!! Yes, they are a good pair, but Ági said she didn't want to play so much doubles. Mandula Aug 27th, 2007, 03:40 PM Hi,Mandula,Do you have any news about Szavay with US opne? Will she play? Hello! Actually I don't have any new information (just what I wrote in my #611 message). If I know something, I will post it. selyoink Aug 27th, 2007, 04:04 PM Agnes must be okay for singles if she is chosing to play doubles. I would think she would only play singles otherwise. Vefci Y Aug 27th, 2007, 04:18 PM I think Agnes will play singles,if she won`t play, her name won`t be doubles draw selyoink Aug 28th, 2007, 12:01 AM Agnes is the 4th match on Court 10 tomorrow. Should give her body even more time to recover. Mandula Aug 28th, 2007, 07:37 AM Hello! Actually I don't have any new information (just what I wrote in my #611 message). If I know something, I will post it. Ági wrote on her homepage that she would play against Kloesel. selyoink Aug 28th, 2007, 11:10 PM Agi made short work of Kloesel winning 6-1, 6-2! It is great she was able to win quickly and save her body from a grueling match. Next up is Krajicek. If she plays like in New Haven she can certainly win. Iceland Aug 28th, 2007, 11:16 PM Agi is healthy  !!! She completely killed Klosel, keep this impressive form as far as possible ! You're wonderful !!! :) Krajicek has also been very impressive today, but Agi has the confidence with her. If she pushes pressure on her, she shouldn't have too much trouble. clonesheep Aug 29th, 2007, 04:07 AM I was at the US Open today. Agi played an excellent match! I was very very impressed. It's the best played match of the day. Mandula Aug 29th, 2007, 05:39 AM Wow Ági! Great result again! Hope you won't get injured!!! georgekuo1017 Aug 29th, 2007, 09:55 AM i like her outfit! Best of luck vs Misa! :yeah: selyoink Aug 29th, 2007, 02:13 PM That is good news. If she is indeed healthy she can certainly take care of Krajicek. selyoink Aug 29th, 2007, 09:12 PM Agi won her doubles today 6-2, 6-4. selyoink Aug 30th, 2007, 01:44 AM Agi plays the first match on Court 4 tomorrow. If she wins and faces Nadia in 3r she will get a showcourt to play on. selyoink Aug 30th, 2007, 10:03 PM Agi has moved into the 3rd round with a 7-6(7-4), 6-3 win!!! She got broken serving for the first set but regrouped in the tiebreak. She broke Krajicek in her first service game of the second set and that held up. Take down Nadia now. Dexter Aug 30th, 2007, 10:05 PM  Very important win! Should guarantee her a place in Top30 for good. Take Nadia down! Iceland Aug 30th, 2007, 10:10 PM We're very proud of you Agi ! Such a great Summer for now, it's wonderful that it's concluding on a good note in the US Open. With Nadia being in a shaky form, everything is possible :). Good luck to you & we hope to see the match on Eurosport ! Congrats :aparty: Mandula Aug 31st, 2007, 06:35 AM What a great result again. PerfectForm Sep 1st, 2007, 08:55 AM Anyone has Szavay's matches from USO? selyoink Sep 1st, 2007, 04:28 PM Agi picks up the biggest win of her career 6-4, 6-4 over Petrova :woohoo: :worship: Into her first slam 4th round. She saved 4 break points while serving for the match including one on a second serve ace. selyoink Sep 1st, 2007, 04:45 PM Agi will now play Julia Vakulenko who creamed Kirilenko 6-2, 6-4. An amazing opportunity for both of them to make their first slam QF. I hope Agi can seize the moment. HTE Sep 1st, 2007, 05:27 PM Ági just keeps impressing with her progress :yeah: Julia will be tough though, she is so experienced and has had an equally amazing run here. Ági has to keep the errors down if she is going to win. Good luck :) Dexter Sep 1st, 2007, 11:09 PM Well done, Agnes! :woohoo: Another victory over Top10 player! Hopefully she can take this opportunity and reach her 1st GS QF! SZAVAY/N. Petrova 6-4, 6-4 THE MODERATOR: Questions, please. Q. There been just few great women tennis players in Hungary: Eva Szabo and Andrea Temesvari. Have you ever had the pleasure of meeting those two women? AGNES SZAVAY: Yes, I did. Q. Have they had an impact on your tennis life? AGNES SZAVAY: Yeah, sure. Q. How? AGNES SZAVAY: I mean, when I was younger I was all the time just watching them how they play. They are like stars and I want to be the same tennis player as they. Yeah, I tried my best. Q. At New Haven in the final when you hurt your back, was it on that final point where Svetlana hit behind and you had to stop, or was it earlier in the match? AGNES SZAVAY: No. You mean when I made the stop? Q. Yes. AGNES SZAVAY: No, no. It was before matches. I played too much matches and it was every day worse and worse. Q. So you had won the first set there? AGNES SZAVAY: Yeah. Q. Of course, you didn't want to take a chance of not playing the US Open so you had to stop. But you had been beating a lot Russian players already this year. Do you know something about Russian players? AGNES SZAVAY: No. I just play my game. Q. How does this victory rank in your career? AGNES SZAVAY: Well, I'm really happy and I try to keep going and try to concentrate on my game. Q. Is this the best win you've had so far in your tennis career? AGNES SZAVAY: Yeah, uh huh. Q. What's been the sort of change for you in the last few weeks or months that's allowed you to have the confidence to beat players like Petrova? AGNES SZAVAY: Well, I improved a lot in the last one year. I just try to focus on my game and I guess I play better now. Q. Where are you training? AGNES SZAVAY: At home, in Budapest. Q. In Hungary? AGNES SZAVAY: Yeah. Q. Have found that it was easy or difficult to make the transition from junior tennis to professional tennis? AGNES SZAVAY: I think it's a big different in the head, and of course they are much better. It's a good experience to play juniors, to be with the top players at the Grand Slams. It's a good life also, but it's big different I guess. Q. Quite clearly now you look very confident on the court. How long did it take you after you turned professional to get confidence playing the faster game, the professional game? AGNES SZAVAY: If somebody plays good juniors, then that player has enough confident to start the WTA tour. When I just stop playing juniors or I was even player juniors still, I was already 150 on the WTA rank. But then I had mononucleosis, so that was half year or year in my career. But since that I'm coming up and playing better and better. Q. Who are you being coached by now? AGNES SZAVAY: Two coaches Zoltan Kuharszsky who is here with me, and Jozsef Bocskay and he is also travel with me sometimes. Q. You been working with them for how long? AGNES SZAVAY: With Zoltan for one year, and with Jozsef for three years or even more. Q. The injury, is it okay now or are you still getting therapy for the injury? AGNES SZAVAY: I'm still getting therapy for it, but it's much better. Q. Today for example AGNES SZAVAY: I didn't feel it. Q. No problem at all? AGNES SZAVAY: No. Maybe if I would play more then I would feel it. Not yet. Q. Which players or player did you admire growing up? AGNES SZAVAY: I really liked Graf and Agassi, but now of course Roger. He's playing unbelievable. FastScripts by ASAP Sports There is also video of it on US Open web page. AJZ. She had 30-0 in both games as well but Agi fought back for the breaks. Agi saved 3 break points serving at 5-5 before holding. Won 7 straight points in tiebreak. Good Luck against Sveta in the QFs. Finish what you started in New Haven. :bounce: Dexter Sep 3rd, 2007, 04:56 PM Agnes in the QF!!!!!! :bounce: Awful match but I don't blame them, because they both wanted to win this so much. And the better player won. :) Take Swieta down!!! Iceland Sep 3rd, 2007, 05:38 PM Such an important win for Agi and her carrier. :yeah: It wasn't indeed her best match, but she stayed very solid each time Julia was up with a break. Ági is in great form now and that was her 4th match and she didn't loss any sets, just win and win again!! I'm so happy! Come on Ági, show your best against Kuzzy!! :hearts: Kirill_M Sep 4th, 2007, 06:54 PM Great results for Agnes, very solid game! Best luck against Kuznetsova! ;) apcuk Sep 4th, 2007, 07:13 PM They are in the semis in doubles! They were 3-6 1-3* 15-40 down but eventually won 3-6 6-3 6-3! 8 matches won, 1 set dropped in this US Open. :worship: selyoink Sep 4th, 2007, 07:14 PM A good result for sure but I hope that match didn't take a toll on her body. Tomorrow is much more important. selyoink Sep 5th, 2007, 02:17 AM Agi plays the second match on Ashe tomorrow. It will start at 12:30 at the earliest. Unfortunately I'll be at class when it starts. Hopefully I can catch the end of it live. selyoink Sep 5th, 2007, 03:29 AM Here is a link to an article about Agi from Tennis.com by Peter Bodo http://tennisworld.typepad.com/tennisworld/2007/09/generation-who.html selyoink Sep 5th, 2007, 06:50 PM Agi has fallen 6-1, 6-4 to Kuznetsova. I didn't get to watch the match because I was at class. I think having played Sveta in New Haven was a disadvantage for Agi. It took away the element of surprise and Sveta knew what to expect. Still an amazing tournament for Agi Kirill_M Sep 5th, 2007, 07:20 PM Sveta played very well, and Agnes haven't many chances. Szavay made many mistakes, and i think she's a little bit tired. Anyway quarterfinal of Us open is a great result for 18-year old girl. Good luck to Agnes in 1/2 doubles! ;) HTE Sep 5th, 2007, 07:25 PM  but great run :) Mandula Sep 5th, 2007, 07:26 PM :( Amazing 3 weeks for Ági. Hope tomorrow Ági & Vladka will get into the final. apcuk Sep 5th, 2007, 07:27 PM The only disappointing thing was that she missed a lot of points when she played well in a rally and was about to finish and win the point. And her first serve was quite bad. She had the chance to break back in both sets tough. Let's hope for a surprise doubles final now! georgekuo1017 Sep 6th, 2007, 10:14 AM vs Kuznetsova http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g282/chaos1017/Others%20II/b_0905_019_szavay.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g282/chaos1017/Others%20II/b_0905_025_szavay.jpg georgekuo1017 Sep 6th, 2007, 10:14 AM http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g282/chaos1017/Others%20II/b_0905_024_szavay.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g282/chaos1017/Others%20II/b_0905_023_szavay.jpg georgekuo1017 Sep 6th, 2007, 10:15 AM http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g282/chaos1017/Others%20II/b_0905_022_kuznetsova.jpg georgekuo1017 Sep 6th, 2007, 10:28 AM http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g282/chaos1017/Others%20II/fullj.getty76184534cc018_u_s_open_day_.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g282/chaos1017/Others%20II/fullj.getty76184534cc031_u_s_open_day_.jpg georgekuo1017 Sep 6th, 2007, 10:28 AM http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g282/chaos1017/Others%20II/fullj.gettytennisus_openszavay.jpg georgekuo1017 Sep 6th, 2007, 10:29 AM http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g282/chaos1017/Others%20II/fullj.getty76184534mh029_u_s_open_day_.jpg http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g282/chaos1017/Others%20II/fullj.getty76184534mh023_u_s_open_day_.jpg libre83 Sep 6th, 2007, 11:37 AM Thx this weeks Ági! :worship: And it's not over yet!
