New Austrian team

Singles: Barbara Schwartz, Evelyn Fauth
Doubles: Daniela Kix, Marion Maruska

Marion has retired after the US Open 2001 but she is now full in training and Austrian tennis Captain Alftred Tesar says that her routine could help the Austrian and Marion has once played Jennifer and lost in three sets.

Good luck to all players especially to Dani Kix:hearts:

It is too bad about Austria.
They really don't have a chance against the likes of Meghann and
Jennifer, Monica and Lisa.
The Austrians do make good cough drops.

Fed cup is fun.
Austrians have a good sence of humor.
It is too bad we can't have the Fed Cup atmosphere
in regular tournaments.
Being a little rowdy is fun.
Look how noisy they get at baseball and football.

Why do we have to be so quiet anyway?

Why only 50 minutes?

I definitely think this match could be a bit tougher than you all are expecting. On paper, yes, we should kick the crap out of them. And we probably will;) BUT, we still have to come ready to play. The two Austrian players are not easy by any stretch.

Barbara Schwartz: big wins against Coetzer, V. Williams, Panova.

Injuries are the only reason she's not in the top 25. A big lefty with a booming serve and beautiful vollies, she has the potential to at least take her matches to 3 sets.

Evelyn Fauth: big wins against Sidot, Dominikovic, Avants

This girl is basically a human backboard. Unfortunately, that's all she has. She's not aggressive at all, and more likely to retrieve a short ball and run back to the baseline than come to net. She could frustrate her opponents briefly, but I can't see her beating them.

My prediction is 5-0 for U.S., but I do expect tough, competitive matches, not the 50 minute prancewalks

I'm pretty sure Schwartz and Fauth will play singles as Evelyn was in Jackson $25K tuning up her game.

Jennifer Capriati def. Evelyn Fauth 6/1, 6/1

Monica Seles def. Barbara Schwartz 6/3, 6/2

Jennifer Capriati def. Barbara Schwartz 6/4, 6/2

Monica Seles def. Evelyn Fauth 6/2, 6/0

Lisa Raymond/Meghann Shaughnessy def. Daniela Kix/Marion Maruska 6/0, 6/1

If the US gets up 3-0, I'd like to see Alex get a Fed Cup match under help belt.
