....Woman to take over the number 1 ranking for the very first time?
Steffi, Monica, Tracy, and Martina were all teenagers.
I'm not sure about Chris and Martina N, but I'm assuming they were in their early 20's?
Arantxa was in her early 20's also I think..?
LIndsay was also younger than Jenn.

I was just thinking that its kind of ironic that the youngest women to break into the top ten and be seeded at a slam, is now the lowest seed to win a slam, second oldest women to win her first slam, and if I'm right, the oldest to attain the number 1 ranking for the first time.

Capriati is the oldest of the female computer #1's for the first time, but when Althea Gibson was #1 for the first time in 1957 she was older than Jen. I think Arthur Ashe got to #1 on the ATP computer in 1975. He would have been 32, well past Muster's age on being #1.

Definitely the oldest. I commented on this some months ago after a trivia question of mine had stumped people for about 100 replies. The question was about a unique achievement of Lindsay's: Until Jen just now, Lindsay was the only first time #1 to take the ranking from a younger player.

The flip side of the coin is that she was among the youngest ever to reach the semi-finals of a slam. And, had she contiued to play as she had early in her carrer, she more than likely, would have reached #1 earlier and as a teenager.
