Hey, "if she's just that good" then more power to Anne White. I remember when Dianne Balestrat had just turned 40, she entered a satellite tournament in Australia to prove that she was still fit and that not much progress had been made in Australian tennis since she retired. She was right! She won the satellite tournament without dropping a set and put all the younger girls to shame, noting that their physical conditioning was very, very poor indeed for a bunch of budding professionals.

Anne Smith was a player who could have gone further in tennis than she did. She won a career slam in women's doubles with Kathy Jordan but only played part-time through what could have been her peak years (the 80s) because she carried on studying and didn't want to live out of a suitcase the whole time.
Nice anecdote about Di Fromholtz-Balestrat. I'm not surprised. I reckon many "golden oldies" from the mid-50s like Chrissie and co would do damn well in satellite events even now.
