a nail biter of a match, but Patty's experience won out in the end.

Patty is now very well placed with Golovin out, i don't think Abbi Spears will be as tough a match as Krajicek. And in the fourth round Patty absolutely OWNS Dani H (five straight wins over her), so she'll be rooting for that upset over Lena D as well.

3-6 6-3 6-4

Tough tough battle. Patty won the games she absolutely had to but Misha kept on fighting and even got the key break in the third set back forcing Patty to break again - even the last game went to deuce. Patty's stats look good so Michaella must have played well - although her UE count is high she must have been making the points somewhere....

Tough cookie our Patty when she is on.

Where's the rowdy Swiss fans?

I demand to see a new thread in GM entitled.
Only the winning or interesting players get the bashing attention.
Move over Sveta! It's Patty's turn. :)

oh my god i was freaking out. i was at my summer job watching it and patty was down a set and i was getting pretty worried. i got home and it was 3-2 patty in the second and things were going with serve. i left just when patty broke for 5-3 because i had to go to tennis. i was playing and then it started pouring with rain so i drove home and watched the tiebreak between hewitt and blake because i was too scared to check the score. then i did the saddest thing and went into the scoring thread and followed the rest from where i left because i couldn't take seeing she had lost straight away. it was nerve-racking as usual but patty prevailed!!

this is a different patty i feel. the old one would have lost this match. she has a great opportunity to go deep.

she has climbed a barrier because i thought it was going to be like 99 when all the bad form began

1999 -

* Patty wins Gold Coast
* Patty makes quarters of Sydney
* Patty as number 8 seed loses second round to unseeded junior champ Mauresmo

2005

* Patty wins Gold Coast
* Patty makes quarters of Sydney
* Patty as number 12 seed beats unseeded junior champ Krajicek

yay pat!!

I hear ya Switz, but we have a big obstacle up soon.
The draw unfortunately puts a couple of other players that
I have taken too, the Vampire and ED.

Vampire is played really well today. She looked like the #3 seed.
ED? Well..she's romping the opposition; probably doing some visualization
and picturing Sveta. :tape:

It's a real shame that all 3 are lumped in the same area of the draw.
I'm positive that if they were in the WILLIAMS or Maria or Sveta sections
they could've taken them down; no shakes- into the semi's.

Lena D vs Patty in the 4th round will be war - the girls don't like each other, and it will be their first time facing off in a grand slam.

Who does Vampire have to play in the next 2 rounds?

Vampire plays Lisa "USTA rocks!" Raymond in the next round.
After that she'll either play my BOSS's buddy Nat Dechy or
Schiavone.

See.....it's a shame that Patty, Vampire, and ED are in the
same sections of the draw. It would've been so great
if they were to meet up in the semi's instead of only 1 being
able to be a semi finalist!

True- and after taking each other down there should be
no emotional let down since they all consider each other
good players.

In a way your right, there will be a nice build up of
confidence playing higher, and higher ranked players
along the way.

looking even further ahead, the semi-final opponent will almost certainly be one of: Davenport, Molik or V Williams. I think our representative will have at least an even-money shot to score a big win and make the final.

Look at our trio- they have the superior passing shots
and fitness over Le Big girls, and if it comes down to heat
or three sets we do have a better chance of not melting.

They are showing the third set on eurosport right now. And I must say Misa is very big  . Very, very nice serve as people here already said, very good power and not afraid to go to the net - very nice.

didnt expect her to take a set off patty considering pattys form, misa has talent for sure, her serves and volleys are quite amazing for a player her age, groundies are ok could use a little work and movement her biggest weakness. but as i said didnt expect her to take a set but the rest of the year looks promising if this match is anything to go by.

Michaella played some impressive points. I do believe she is going to have some future. But she has to control her temper. Hopefully the tears are just the sign of her youth, and she's not going to become another Zvonareva.

I'd rather see her leave the court crying because she wanted the match THAT bad, and that she was so close, could've won it. But didn't... then see her walk off court smiling and being happy about reaching the second round. Cause that wouldn't show any signs of having a winning drive.

I wouldn't compare her to Zvonareva, who starts crying when she gets broken at 0-1 in the first set.

I saw Misha play for the first time on the WTA tour...well I did see her collapse in Rosmalen last year, due to exhaustion or whatsoever... but not a full match...and I found it really fascinating how she, at the tender age of just 16, got into an argument with the chair umpire... He gave her a warning because she was taking too much time in between points a guess and she walked towards him and stood there telling him exactly what she thought about his decision... She already seems to be kind of professional on the court dispite her crying sometimes... Way to go Misha!!!! Hope you will have a very good future, not only for yourself but also for Dutch women's tennis!!!! GO GO GO :)

Yes, but when the first thing you read is negative, then you tend to react to that. I make my replies on a post by post basis, I don't read the whole thread first. So if someone says something I don't like, then they'll know it! I'm pretty sure most people reply post by post too. Coz alot of others have commentd about your first post but not the next!
