Hi Guys,

I was watching the Hopman Cup and they showed and the argie TV showed and interview with Paola and she was asked what she thought about Myskina. She said she has the game but with everyone else being at their best she would not probably be number 3.

Maybe you dont care, but its just what i heard.

Meh. Ever since she got into the top 10 people wonder how she got there. If shes stays in the top 5 this year i bet it still wouldn't change. If everyone was healthy it would be more difficult, that goes without saying but i believe she would still be a big threat. Actually i believe all the Russian "newcomers" would still be a threat, perhaps they wouldn't have made such a huge impact on '04 but certainly without a doubt this Russian revolution was a long time coming. But i'm just shit talking, its a new year, the Willies are here, the Belgium's are coming back. We'll see how it goes. :)

Thanks.

Paola is a player I cannot stand anymore after seeing her behaviour in Montreal vs. Maggie....
She is kinda right, maybe she would be No.5, when JHH, SW, LD and KC are at thier best, but when does this happen.
I think though that she is no No.1 material....

Don't argue whether P. Suarez is right yes or no. But you certainly can critise her high ranking. For a player losing indoors more than winning. To cut it short P. Suarez shouldn't be seeded in the indoor tournaments and banned from the Kremlin Cup cause of bad results. Even though her ranking allows her to be in the Main Draw of the indoor tournaments and this is cause of tournaments nothing to do with indoor tennis. Her last victory on indoor carpet dates from the year 2000 :o

That's one of the reasons I like Myskina. On paper, there's no way she's a top five, even a top 20 paper. She's not especially strong physically, her second serve is questionable and her speed, while good, is not blinding. Yet she wins. Somewhere in an interview I think she said about her coaches when she was a kid never picking her to do well, yet she always won.

IMHO, when Nastya keeps her temper, she's better at getting inside her opponent's head than anybody else on the tour. I don't look for her to drop out of the Top 5 anytime soon.

Paola said last year that she doesnt like the indoor season at all. In fact last year she intended to skip that part if she had done better at the USOpen. Not that she did better later though-.

Good post KV. I wonder what Myskina thinks of Suarez' comments. But the truth is the player out injured or ill like last year will have a hard time beating Myskina this year that's for sure. I expect Nastyya to stay in the op 5 this year and battle for #1 on the WTA computer at some point. :)

Suarez must win more, before she can open her mouth on top 10 again. Especially on Nastya.

Yes, she said it I heard it from an argentinian reporter whos done many interviews to her. I dont thin she was being mean though, she just said what she thought. Whats the big fuzz about. You guys need everybody to say that Anastasia is the best player in the world by far to be happy, LOL!!!

Noooo Paola's comments didn't really bother me, everyone has a right to an opinion no matter how stupid [kidding :)]. Did i mention i'm very apathetic?

what does apathetic meann?
An old line goes like this:
Interviewer: "Do you think that people are too apathetic?"
Respondent: "I don't know and I don't care."

I think Paola was just trying to give her honest view of the situation as of the time she was asked. I don't think she meant any personal slight.

My favorite prophecy is this one from Tracy Austin, commentating for CBS during the Clijsters v Liu match at the US Open 2003: "I think Myskina has peaked. I don't think she can get into the top 5... or 7."
:o

This is (one reason) why I like Myskina, Dementieva and Zvonareva. The commentators ("experts") always underestimate them. :) :) :)
