Who has had the better career?

Jan 6th, 2005, 06:36 AM
Both are not retired. One is. Wait till Ai's is over then ask the question

testud.more wins over top 10 players, and u knew that she was very very dangerous.

Jan 6th, 2005, 06:39 AM
Testud was a bit of a late bloomer really where as Sugiyama has been top 50 for a long time.

Its a tough call, exactly how many top ten wins have they both had? and what about titles won?

I know, both have had wins over top ten players. Right now I can only think of two, Justine HH & Clijsters, but there are more. THose are the most recent I think.

sandrine was ranked top 40 most of her career and like ai she came to the top later on.

sandrine stayed in the top 15 longer though (ai might get back) and she definitely had a bigger game - she really troubled a lot of big guns - beating serena, lindsay (at her best) and many others.

both are very good.

ai has a better doubles record although sandrine again was very strong making GS finals with chanda.

and sandrine leads H2H 6-1. surprising

Mmmmmk. Sandrine is not retired.

Jan 6th, 2005, 07:02 AM
Testud kinda destroyed her reputation by returning this year and then losing to players like Kurhajcova.

Mmmmmk. Sandrine is not retired.

Oh sorry if I offended anyone, I thought she came back last year and decided to stop again

Yeah because losing to talented players after having a baby and spending most of your time taking care of it is just pathetic.

Sandrine is going to play some this year.

BTW, Sandrine made the SF of Roland Garros in doubles last year. Is that awful? She also beat Angelika Roesch, Nuria Llagostera Vives, and Magui Serna. I suppose that makes them totally ridiculously stupid, eh?

Jan 6th, 2005, 07:28 AM
another + for sandrine. she qualified many times for the year end championsips vs ai's one trip.

+ for ai= more prize money (though a lot has been heaped on since sandrine left to have her baby)

yes but ai's sole trip was during the new format, and she was in the top 8. and she beat the reigning world #1 too. of course, beating the reigning world #1 is pretty normal for sandrine too.

I think they had pretty much the same accomplishments but I think Sandrine was a bit more solid and dangerous.

Jan 6th, 2005, 11:21 AM
I think that overall, Sandrine was a bit better in singles and Ai much better in doubles.

Sandrine got there late but assumed the role of tour giant killer. Most dangerous player out there outside the top 8 and more dangerous than many in the top 8. Ask Jennifer or Lindsay who they were afraid of when they saw her in their draw. Ai has never been areal threat to the top players - though she did take one by surprise every now and then in a longer career at the top. But for one player called Martina (0-16 was the H2H including finals), Sandrine would have had the tournament wins too.
