how many of you would come to the exhibition?

This is an exhibition and surely the players' mood do matter to what they will show. It seems that the whole crowd is going to support Maria. It's quite bad to Elena especially 'vs. Maria' is the opeining match. From what I saw in years, Elena played better when somebody's cheering for her, played quite bad  when nobody's support her and somebody's teasing on her DFs.

I do hope I could see something new and powerful from Elena in such meaningless exhibition. But I'm afraid if the crowd is not for her, she may just give up and practise nothing which harm her AO practise.

Could someone give ideas about how to cheer for her? Probably we may be the only group to support her

I will go. :)

At least I won't be cheering for Maria! Please don't worry. I just hope Lena enjoys it.

Hope she plays great in Australia!

SHE WIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN 6-7 (2/7), 6-3, 6-1
Here a little article about her match.

Dementieva upsets Sharapova in opener
Russian world number four Elena Dementieva upset Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova with a come-from-behind 6-7 (2/7), 6-3, 6-1 victory to make a winning start in the Watsons Water Champions Challenge on Wednesday.Dementieva didn't let the loss of an opening set distract her as she won the all Russian encounter in just under two hours with her brand of power tennis.Dementieva, 23, who reached last years Grand Slam finals at the French and US Opens, said she was pleased to have beaten Sharapova having lost to her rival three times from four previous encounters."I think it's a very nice start for the year, especially against a good player. I did a lot of positive things today. I did pretty good for my first match," said Dementieva, who is making her fourth visit to Hong Kong."My serve needs improving and I think it was probably the weakest link of my game last year. My game is improving. It (my serve) really helped me today and it was nice to play like that.

I've gone to the tournament for all 4 days. I think it's the best watsons water challenge held so far. (Maybe it's becoz Elena won:bounce: ) Below are few words about Elena's match:

Before starting, Elena's attitude should be appreciated. She smiled at almost every moment. Even in autograph session which was not allowed to take any photos (with her), she simply smiled wholeheartedly and tried to take every photo with you if you asked. I won't mention the names but this is really different from a few players. Elena was extremely nice :worship:

Match 1 def. Maria Sharapova 6-7(2) 6-3 6-1
The serve did actually improved IMO. The bending of legs is quite enough I guess. Placement of serves were sometimes not good and faults were resulted, but the speed of the serves was no longer sixty sth and I barely saw any slice serve.

Some games were down from 0-30 e.g. Set 2 Game 4, however, Elena still tried her serve rather than placing it safely with a slice. Olga did help Elena at the match because whenever Elena's downhill, she just looked at Olga and Olga (and of coz Vera) gave feedback and gestures to her, don't know they're game plans or just encouragement.

Both Elena and Maria played well. As the beginning of the year, it's understandable to have some UEs, I mean the real 'unforced error'. The match went to Elena from the end of 2nd set, when Maria was commiting suicide and producing tons of UE. Maria may have better power but the placement of her balls were just

The double matches
The double matches provided Elena a relaxing chance for experiment. The 1st match was vs. Williams. On groundstrokes, both fh and bh, Elena was simply amazing. She was barely defeated by both Serena and Venus. When it comes to serve, however, it seemed that Elena was more afriad to face Serena and just gave some monotype (in both speed and placement) serves to Serena. The net skill was effective with some nice slice and dropshots.

Compare to the 2nd double match, I know it's quite unreasonable but if we try to compare Elena to her teammate, one of the tennis legends, Arantxa Sanchez, Elena's net skills still have a lot to learn. For Arantxa, her net skill was magnificiant. Great slice and dropshots with the exact wininng placement. We all know that the groundstrokes of Elena is surely one of the best in WTA. Besides serves, I really hope Elena can work more on net skill. It doesn't need to be very good but indeed effective and can win crucial points when she's down from pts are necessary. In the last serving game, Elena serves almost twenty times  and the game went on like deuce-adv-deuce-break pt-deuce....

Final: def. Venus Williams 6-3 6-2
When I went back home and watched the match again, the commentator gave a sentence to describle Elna's today and I think it's quite gd to summarise the final: 'Her serve was not good today with 9 double faults. But her groundstrokes really made the difference'

Maybe because Venus was down, almost the whole crowd cheer for Venus. It's bad of me not to scream out Elena to cheer for her  There was a girl waving a tiny banner to root for Elena. For my poor memory I 've recognised that girl who went to the tournament in last years. It's really nice to see someone truly supports Elena.

The match was boardcasted on TV so I thought some of you may have seen it. Sth interesting should be noted. At the beginning of the match, I don't know if Elena was nervous. When the match was 30-30, Elena asked for balls to serve. She thought that she won or most probably, lost the game. It's kinda weird! After she lost the 1st serving game with 2 DFs, she was definitely dissappointed. When it comes to the 2nd serving game, Olga raised her fist to Elena and then she's trying to take a deep breath, calm down and focus. Everything's alright then though somehow the serve were still mono-placement but speedy. A game did actually went down from 15-40 with 3 DFs but Elena still got through it. Fortunately the groundstrokes were not turned off because of the serve. Honestly, many of fh, bh and returns were fantastic shot

It's nice to see Elena win a tournament in live especially my real start to like Elena was in 2002, when she ws def. by Jennifer Capriati here. She showed me the fighting spirits but eventually lost. Four years from now and I finally see her win here, keeping that glowing fighting spirits. I'm sure she could reach her dream this year, with GS and be the no.1

I'm sorry but I would like to know how could I post photo here. In the attaachment section, it seems that there is a limit of size of attached file (100k)
