I was just checking some French Challenger sites when I noticed that Emilie Bacquet (isn't she Walloon???) is playing for FRANCE and not for Belgium :(
When did she change nationalities? Any1 who knows?
Gosh, the only Walloon player (except for Justine of course;)) on the WTA changed nationalities :(
I've just checked the WTA-site and there, they also say that's she FRENCH :(

AlexSydney, I thought you were Australian?
But you've got a Swedish flag behind your name, are you from Sweden?

I think Emilie just changes nationalities to get a direct entry (WC) into a tournament! She kept her Belgian nationality till just after WTA-Antwerp. Now she's French (she's playing the French Challengers now).
Maybe she will be Belgian again when the Belgian summer Challengers start
I hope she won't get a WC into the main draw of The Frenchspeaking Community Championships (or whatever it's called) in Brussels!!!! That's would be unfair towards the real Belgians!

*BUMP for AntennA*
The story is:
As a junior, Emilie was playing for BELGIUM. When she started to play on the ITF/WTA, she was also playing for Belgium, so she got WCs into the Belgian tournaments... When she started playing in French challengers, she suddenly said she was "FRENCH"! So she got WCs into those French ITFs!
Last year, she got a WC into the Qualifying of Brussels again.
Now, this year, she's French, but she's playing the Belgian Tennis Championships :confused:
So the thing is: the girls switches nationalities to get WCs into Belgian/French tournaments and she now plays the Belgian Championships while she's listed as FRENCH on the WTAtour website!
Hope this clears things up ;) :wavey:
