I was known as the Bombshell from Brooklyn, but given my icon status, there's not much about me you don't know. But what you might find shocking is in 1954 during my divorce from Jess Barker and the custody battle over our twins, I hit a real low and made an honest to goodness suicide attempt by taking an overdose of pills and booze. I made a maudlin phone call to my mother right before I went to sleep telling her not to worry about me and that she'd be "taken care of." She called the cops and an ambulance and that's what saved me. It was all over the papers and everything and was really embarrasing and they had pictures of my unconscious being wheeled into the hospital on a stretcher.

But, the good news, I bounced back, won custody of the twins and even finally won my coveted Oscar! The Bombshell from Brooklyn was a tough broad!

Of the 220 persons who worked on The Conqueror on location in Utah in 1955, 91 had contracted cancer as of the early 1980s and 46 died of it, including stars John Wayne, Susan Hayward, and Agnes Moorehead, and director Dick Powell.

That's what I call a bad career move for all involved, though you have to wonder, the ways some of those stars smoked then, I mean, 2-3 packs a day, cancer is not real uncommon.

A 15-year-old girl asked me to her Year 10 Formal - I'm 26, and her tennis coach. It was then that I worked out who was sending me these pornographic letters describing how she was going to have sex with me. They were very filthy letters. I turned the offer down, of course. She was a very cool girl though. However, she now hates me and has quit tennis. She hates me now but I'm sure that one day she'll understand that I did the right thing.

Not wild enough? Okay, I'm really an alien traveller from the planet Wakanaka in the sixth solar system. My spacecraft crashed on this planet three years ago and I've been trying to find a way back to my home planet ever since. WILL SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!?

I said that to share with you my concern for your attention to Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)- they kill, and I'm not assuming that it's the first time you've heard that, just a gentle reminder- it can't be said often enough. I remember when I was 17, and the things I did. I have no regrets- I've lived a full life so far and seen and done things that most people my age (42) haven't, however, I'm just now seeing that the future can be as bright as I want it to be. It's never too late to start living, and it's so easy at your age to make mistakes, and that's how you will learn. It's harder for me to talk to you than it is for you to talk to me (go figure?). There is nothing I can say to you that will make any difference in your learning process, except- learn to listen to the song of life- you will never be disappointed by what you hear.

Cheers!

I love that term "made out." I caught Jess once "making out" with Marlene Deitrich at the Hollywood Cantina when we were dating. I put a STOP to THAT real fast. I didn't care if Jess cheated on me with a car hop or a dress extra, but not with another movie star. A gal has to have her standards.

Great post! It leads us to a frank and honest discussion on sexuality, and I think from reading what you've said so far, you're more than prepared. at the five minutes... sex I think is a microcosm of life itself, and it's a shame most people waste time trying to hide it, cover it up, or ignore it entirely. Men (and we're generalizing here) tend to peak sexually between the ages of 18-28, and women only come into their own fertile field after 30 years of age. The bridging of that sexual continuum is the stuff wars are made of. How do you and your 28 year old mate connect mentally during your encounters- do you talk about what you are feeling?

um, when I was around 6 my dad took me and my sisters and two other children to Coney Island. While riding on the train my dad looked at us and said, "this is your brother and sister".......well he was still married to my mom and the kids were around my age...

My family on my mothers side originated from the Island of Lesbos!!!

is that the Greek Island near Assos? I went to Assos this year in Turkey and you can see Lesbos from there. Apparently only lesbians live there now.

WILL SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!?

lmao :haha:

I know a family secret: my brother's father is not who he thinks he is. He is actually a neighbour of ours from years ago.

scandalous :eek:Indeed. From my understanding only four of us know, but sometimes you wonder if people know things but just never talk about it, ya know? So I always wonder who else (in the family) knows too, but of course I'd never say anything.

how did you find out? I bet like you say more of the family know than the 4

One family member who was around during the time most of us were being born, told two other family members in confidence, then they told me in confidence. I was shocked, and sometimes I wonder if my brother knows or has/had a suspicion.

Oh, well, at least it's safe, good job, but I've been around straight sex all my life, so at 86, I need something a little kinkier than a man and a woman story.

My oldest sister didn't find out my dad wasn't her biological father when she was like 15....

My mother loves the secrets...

Here's another one and my mom would die if she knew I told this but she was preggers and unmarried in the early 60's so she married a guy who needed a green card so she wouldn't be an unwed mother.

Then she met my dad and he adopted my older sister but she never knew why she was a little different til she was much older. :(

Needless to say it messed her up a little. ;)
