ok i know its early...but 6 months is gonna fly by. i know few of us are planning on attending wimbledon next year so i thought id start a thread so we can plan it like put links to accomodation near to the grounds...cos this year i satyed in marble arch...expensive and the bus ride was a pain in the arse. if any of you have used accomodation b4 post the details here...i'm definatly going and dont fancy going on my own :-)

plus i just read a jen fans review in the jen cap forum and its awsome i soooo wanna go with other lindsay fans lol.

Dec 21st, 2004, 07:03 PM
well im free the whole 2 weeks so im pretty easy..lol...will you be camping or b&b-ing it...i really want to fully experiance it next year as my mum was kinda a drab...too hot, too cold, im not waiting for autos all day, etc etc...thats what i get for taking a non tennis fan.
have u applied via the ballot or r u queing every day?

Yes, I really want to go - at the moment, I'm laying in huge hope that I'll get tickets through the LTA ballot which is drawn just before my birthday (two years ago I got them as a great 21st Birthday present as the draw was the day before and I got the letter the day after)......if i have to camp, then I'll camp! lol

Last time I went Wimby, I left the hote booking to my friend, because at the time she worked for a company that give her 50% discount on hotel rooms. We ended up over an hour and a half tube ride away in Epping (North East London) because everywhere else was full!?!?!

The Royal National Hotal is a great hotel - I used it for a college trip to London once. Although it's near the centre of London, it will only be like a half hour journey to Wimbledon. It's a short walk away from Russel Square station and just down the road from Euston. There are some details here:

http://www.imperialhotels.co.uk/royal.htm

Hotels near Wimbledon:
http://www.hotel-assist.com/hotels-wimbledon-london.html

From experience, I would say that if you're getting to London by train then you would be best going to the Royal National. I say this because when I last went to Wimbledon, I had to travel for another hour to get to a Hotel. It's not very good to travel on the underground with a load of heavey luggage! If I don't camp next time, I will go to the Royal National so that it's not far from Euston and I can leave my luggage there while I travel to Wimbledon.

If you're going by car, then you are probably best getting a B&B right by the grounds.

Hope this info helps.

You hear about the Public draw in February but for the LTA draw (the one I am in) you have to wait until 01 March. At least you can now go online and find out whether you have tickets or not and which court and day etc. Can't wait, do hope I get some too.

I was wondering that too! How come I haven't heard about this?

I'm a bit worried. My LTA membership is due for renewal and I haven't had a letter asking if I want to renew my membership! I have usually had about 3 letters by now! perhaps I should email them.

Look on the LTA (Advantage) page on their web site on 3 March 2005 and you will be able to see if you have tickets. You just have to enter your lTA advantage number and then you can look and see if you have been lucky.

Draw is done today:worship:

Nevermind hey? There's always next year i guess! :D

I am probably going to camp, I was hoping I wouldn't have to, but duty calls ;)

I would like to go earlier in the first week....one thing I'd be worried about is camping in the tent, is not secure with all that money on me! Perhaps I could get a little padlock for inside the tent ;)

So, you're paying for a b&b that you won't be sleeping at? Wouldn't it just be cheaper to place the stuff in the lockers/storage facilities provided just outside wimby?

Becky, which day's are you (planning on) going wimby? I know you have tickets for one day, but I think you said you might camp out!? I might go first monday and tuesday.....mainly because it's cheaper, but also more chance of seeing lindsay playing! And then if Lindsay makes the finals, I'll be queuing for a ground pass!

it proberley would be cheaper but im getting a b&b so i can sleep sat night cos no play on sunday...plus for bathroom facilties...so i can have a shower every morning and a decent loo...have a thing about porta loos. plus i dont trust anyone with my possesions....if i know the important stuff is locked in a room then the only way it can be nicked is if someone goes i there...so if someone goes in and nicks my stuff i can sue the ass off the b&b.
