'Fat Actress' Kirstie Alley Chooses Jenny Craig to Lose Weight

~ Actress to Star in New Advertising Campaign ~

CARLSBAD, Calif., Dec. 20-- Jenny Craig Inc., one of the nation's leading authorities on weight management, announced today that actress Kirstie Alley is the company's "star" client for 2005. In response to recent statements that she wants to lose the very weight that prompted her new Showtime series, "Fat Actress," Jenny Craig has offered Alley and ten of her closest friends the opportunity to participate in the program. Alley is currently working with her Jenny Craig consultants to lose weight and learn how to eat and live healthier. She will star in the company's advertising campaign featuring television commercials that begin airing January 10, 2005.

"I had a great time getting fat and now I'm going to have an even greater time losing weight," said Alley. "Once I decided it was time, I naturally thought about Jenny Craig. I had four offers from other companies, but I wanted to go with the safest, most well rounded, fun approach -- one that I knew would work -- and, let's face it, Jenny Craig's food is hands-down the yummiest. Since I started working with the Jenny Craig team, they've supported my unconventional, hopefully humorous, approach to coming to grips with the fact that I'm certifiably fat -- I goof around with that on my show, 'Fat Actress.' The truth is, no one WANTS to think they need Jenny Craig, but once you regain consciousness and realize, as I did, that it's the best and most fun plan out there, you concede."

When Alley's new seven-part Showtime series, "Fat Actress" premieres in March, people will see how difficult it is to be an overweight woman in the entertainment business. But Alley hopes her weight loss will encourage others to join her in her mission to gain control of her body and become healthier.

A former Jenny Craig member, Alley lost more than 15 pounds on the program 14 years ago and successfully kept it off for over ten years. Her goal today is to lose more than fifty pounds with the new Jenny YourStyle personalized program, a balanced approach to weight loss addressing food, body and mind. Alley meets with her Jenny Craig consultant weekly, has begun a new regime of increased activity and is creating an eating plan for meals at home and on the set, all tailored to fit her schedule and lifestyle.

"Our new advertising campaign is designed to resonate with anyone looking to lose unwanted weight with a safe, scientifically-proven, lifestyle-focused method," said Jim Evans, CEO of Jenny Craig. "Kirstie Alley is a Hollywood star who is struggling with her weight like thousands of other Americans. She has this fantastic energy to encourage and motivate other women and men to join her in weight loss success -- all with an incredible sense of fun and humor."

The commercials, which will be produced by J. Walter Thompson, of New York, will follow Alley as she loses weight and will feature testimonials of her personal experiences on the Jenny Craig Program. To further follow Alley on her weight loss journey, her weekly blog entries will be posted at http://www.jennycraig.com.

Why doesn't she just eat less and work out?

Exactly, Hel. Did we take 'dolls' to prepare for our roles? Alley just became lazy when she was washed up. I just did bad TV movies and game shows.

There's no excuse for being over 300 pounds. She can hire a trainer and a chef. She's really a disgrace to celebrities everywhere. Being thin is THE most important thing in Hollywood, even if you have to do coke or be anorexic.
