Oh come on! ESPN is petty. LMAO out of all the women is sports they chose her?? Damn this is a slap in the face for women. Women who strived and struggled and DID NOT go down the same ole cliche' trooden path. Imho EPSN and the like are jockin her because she was once a drug head and now not. Their are so many many women profiles that should of been selected. Michelle Kwan is one of them. Or what about Mia Ham? Or Althea Gibson. America needs to quit it. Mainstream is getting old old old.

He he nothing against Jennifer but when I think of a terrific women athlete I tend to like to see a women who has dominated in her desired sport and overcome outstanding odds. Monica should of been on their before Jennifer. She was hurt and came back and played. Oh well.

i concur with dawn, they pick her!!! i really get that chauvinist feeling from espn, and this only exacerbates it all. puhlease! women makes sports so much better

jennifer was an odd choice i tend to agree.
She makes for a great story, and is an inpiration for anyone who has gotten their life back on track after faltering first, or for those going through such things right now... but out of ALL the women in sport, past and present, she was an odd choice.
If I was to pick a female tennis player, I'd have picked BJK or Althea Gibson.

Firstly, it should've been 50% female & 50% male athletes. What's with the imbalance?

It's at times like this when I wish I lived in America

Typical of this board that instead of slagging ESPN for picking only one female athlete you decide to slag the one female athlete that has been chosen. Congratulations Dawn Marie for your 'insight' into Jennifer's career. Let's hope you have never done anything wrong in your life because you obviously don't believe in forgiveness or understanding. Merry Christmas to you.

DawnMarie - U gotta be kidding! Mia Hamm, don't make me laugh, she hasn't been the best - deserving - woman footballer since 1999.
Jen deserves this, they should've just had more women in the line up, don't slag her off cos the producers didn't plonk any other women sports stars.
Stanley Mitchell - I don't think that's the point

Capriatifan did you not read my reply? I said ESPN was typical amongst other things. Actually I was giving my opinion on Jennifer AND ESPN.
Yeah Mia Hamm was sa bit hilarious. Sorry
BUT still I dont not agree with the "once a drug head now gotten life on right path" as the better choice. What about overcoming racism you know things that the player couldn't control. Or getting stabbed and making it back to the top. Sure I am understandable of people changing their lives around but really, out of all the women in America ESPN once again went mainstram. PUHLEEZ!
