pure singing ability, the sound they make, vocally. not image or the type of music they sing, just their voice, who has the best singing voice? i know there are a few girls from australian idol that probably not many people know about but for the aussies on this board they should know them. and feel free to say someone who isnt on the poll because i would have added more singers if the poll could fit them. e.g. shania twain, delta goodrem, faith hill.

polls are so hard to do because they usually only represent *our* limited point of view......:(

Having said that I vote for none of them as the person I think has the best voice is not included. :)

no but her opinion is usually highly respected and regarded, and you saying she isnt one of the best doesnt mean she isnt either:p

Has any one heard of Offra Haza? She sung most of the prince of Egypt soundtrack and her voice is the most beautiful ive ever heard!
Other than her I think Barbara, Whitney and Celine. They are the real divas of this world, no amount of botox and silicone and wigs and circus clothes can ever substitute quality.

who'd that be?

no one on the list jumps out at me, though Christina has to be at the top of the poll's choices. looking sexy on the music video is more important than voice.

Celene Dion has the kind voice I'd love to forget ... though she seems to have escaped the sexy prerequisite thingie.

my retro pick ... Denise Williams!

They are the real divas of this world, no amount of botox and silicone and wigs and circus clothes can ever substitute quality.

While some people may think that as tacky, it doesn't decrease the quality of their talent in anyway, infact most people might say it is an attribute to it, I mean what wouldn't Cher be without her Sarkisiasous Face?? Her Gay Appeal??? Her Flamboyant Wardrobe of Clothes, Her Believe Song, thats what makes CHER, as well as her talent, If she didn't possess the Botox and the Bob Mackie Style fashions she wouldnt be cher!. she would be cher?

Same goes with Madonna, these add on make them apart of their preformance, sterotypicially who wants to go to a Cher Concert where she stays in one costume?? Doesnt have great Choreography, one hair style? one wig, Doesnt come down of a chandelier?? No one, it's the part and parcel of them,

While I like some of Barbra, she doesnt have the divaness compared to these 2 broads, She doesnt have the fireworks that go with her shows, she aint a circ de solei, shes simply a jazz bar, Cher and Madonna bring out the Circ in de Solei Honney

Yes Oleh, But so is Barbra Streisand and Bette Midler and so forth, Slightly different genres, Barbra a different era, Without Madonna or Cher there would be no Britney or Christina or J lo, or whoever, they are 2 of the pioneers of entertainment, its unfortunate that Cher and Barbra and Bette can also act. What is a Diva, How do u define one?? What must she do?? Barbra and Bette, Cyndi are pop stars.

LeAnn Rimes is very underestimated. Whether she's singing live or recorded, her voice is always consistent, passionate, emotional and very powerful.

Jessica Simpson is one of the worst singers :haha:

:haha: at Ricki Lee Coulter on the poll too.

I think its Mariah Carey but out of those its Christina.

Ofra Haza :worship:
her own work was great, and she'll remain with me till my last day as the brilliant backing vocalist on the "temple of love 1992" version of the sisters of mercy, absolutely stunning!

other than her I only see (in another genre) lisa gerrard, one of the most fabulous female singers ever! (and to the thread starter, an australian too! )

a better question is, why are most of the singers in the poll americans?
what is it in the water americans drink, or is it just a matter of exposure?

i personally think sinead oconnor has a fabulous voice and should be considered too :D

From that list, I would say Christina A and Celine. I voted for Christina though.
