TOKYO (Reuters) - Single or lonely Japanese men may get lucky this Christmas.

One popular item for holiday shoppers is the "lap pillow", with skin-coloured polyurethene calves folded under soft thighs -- a comfy cushion for napping, reading or watching television.

The 9,429 yen (47 pounds) pillow, which comes with one red and one black skirt, went on sale in late November and maker Trane says shipments have reached 3,000 in just a few weeks.

[...]

Care was taken with details such as the softness of the thighs, panty lines on the pillow's "backside" and wrinkles in the lap of the skirt so as to make the pillow look and feel as real as possible.

:haha:

The first prototype model was based on J-Lo's exact proportions - they had to burn the stock and start again when the pillows couldn't get through people's doors!

I'm scheduled to be doing a commercial in Tokyo for this in February. Picture it...

You see only my lap like in that picture and then a man rests his head on it. I say a few seductive lines and then the camera pans out and reveals the rest of me. The man runs away in horror and goes to buy the fake thing as a replacement. It's a bit edgy and shows that I know how to laugh at myself. It's brilliant.

Sal, I love it. I've been sending myself up for years. Once you hit 50 that's the only way for a woman to survive in Hollywood. Look at Liza on Arrested Development!

Joan, I think Nixon was still in the White House when you hit 50. :o

Ok, and to be fair, Johnson was in the White House when I hit 50. Andrew Johnson, that is.

thanks! I think they do have awards for commercials. I'll have to actually shoot the commercial first before I can tell you about the quality but I'm sure it'll be class all the way.

You're right Hel. Actually if you listen closely to one of the Watergate tapes you can hear me on the Tonight Show on a TV in the background doing some menopause jokes.

It's nice to see one real person reply. I should have known when there were nine replies in one hour that eight of them would have been the "Helen Lawson", "Sally Struthers", and "Joan Rivers" trolls.

Hey, someone had to come and liven this thread up. Without Sal, Hel and I this thread would be on page 2 by now with a bit of tumbleweed flying through it!

Give it up, you love the attention. Enjoy it while you can. Joan and I don't care about catty comments, but Sally gets really mad and there's no telling what's in store for you when she runs out of her bad reps for the day. It's as bad as Neely when she loses her red ones!

Come on Sal, get mad and get even, Joan and I are counting on you to do our dirtywork. Come on, simmer for awhile, and then KABOOM!, blow like Chernobyl!

We so totally did this thread a favor and this is the thanks we get.

No. It would be too predictable. You have to keep them guessing.

Maybe a hot-headed Valerie Harper or Florence Henderson can come in and kick some ass.

That bitch! And she smokes, too. I better alert my agent that we need to act immediately when contacted and not to make too many outrageous demands.

Of course, if Dennis Hopper can make it over there posing in a bathtub, I guess there's money for everyone over there.
