Help with Spanish please

Hi guys
I've been learning spanish for a while and I'm having trouble knowing when to use ser or estar, especially in tenses other than the present :confused: Could someone translate these sentences in to Spanish for me please :kiss:

1-It would be fantastic if we had a swimming pool.
2-I was ill

1- Seria fantastico que tuvieramos una piscina (verbo SER)
2- Estuve enfermo (verbo ESTAR)
