Tammy has ended her 2004 with rank 66. It was not a good year for her as she crashed out the Grand Slam first round in Melbourne, Roland Garros, and Flushing Meadow.

She is now training in gym to strengthen her fitness before leaving for 2005 Australian Circuit. She will be playing only one tournaments ( Canberra ) before AUS Open 2005. Tammy has chance to improve her ranking because she does not have much points to defend in next year.

Wow, Tammy is looking beatutiful and gorgeous in the last picture. I think Tammy has one of the best smile on & off court amongst WTA players.

Hope that Tammy has better luck next year~~

BTW, what is the meaning of 'na ka' and 'ka'? There are so many in her message.

Go, Tammy~

:DHi Eric :worship:

Thanks for coming.
I also love her smile.

" ka " = yes. " ka " is used by a girl or a woman after a staement or a polite request. ( a man use " krub " instead of " ka " )

" na ka " : No exact equivalence of this word in English. It is used by a girl or a woman after addressing someone to make the statement smooth and soft, showing good manners and politeness. ( a man use " na krub " instead of " na ka " ).

BTW, glad to know Tammy choose to play $140K Seoul,KOR this year. I hope to meet Mi-ra and Cho in Volvo Women in Pattaya next year as well.

Thanks for this thread and Tammy's message, Khun Jiro!

I think "na ka" or "na krub" is like "..., OK?"

I spoke to Tammy and my dad on December 27th. They were safe in Bangkok, but unfortunately, Tammy's coach Panomkorn Pladchurnil lost some relatives in the tsunami that devastated Phuket and nearby islands. I think Tammy was still in a bit of shock when I spoke to her.

This photo was taken about a month before the tragedy at the Paradorn Super Tour Players Party in Phuket. It's hard to believe we were all there enjoying some fun tennis and celebrating my aunt's birthday.

Tammy said in Today's Matichon newspaper in " Tammyka " colunm that she will withdraw from next week WTA Qatar due to injury at her foot and ankle.

She was playing injury her foot and ankle in Hyderabad. She found herself before flying to Hyderabad that she felt painful her foot because of her new slipper. She thought that her foot will be getting better but it's getting worse ( her ankle also ) when she start running. She beated Akgul(UZB) in three set 6-4,4-6,6-1 and lost very easy to Sun Tian Tian(CHN) very easy 2-6,1-6.

She will have her foot and ankle rest and will withdraw from next week Qatar and may be Dubai as well.

get well soon Tammy.

Poor Tammy! I hope the rest would give her better chance to play well. By the way, she's committed to BErlin and Rome which she did so but did not play last year, so hopefully she really goes and try her luck. She needs some points before Birmingham.

I know her grass is good, but it might be very stressful to know you gotta win many matches on grass again...

Hi Benny, :)

How have you been ? Long time no see.

I just came back from Phuket, supporting Thai girls in Fed Cup World Group 2. It was very very hot (even I'm Thai).

Tammy was very happy in Phuket and friendly to her fans. According to her ranking she won't play any Tier 2 before FO. Her next tourney is Morocco, Praque and Strasbourg.

Lot of her pictures from Phuket in my homepage and you can cheering her in my new ThaiTennisWebboard at http://www.fulltimewebmaster.com/myforum/jirobkk.html

What's Tammy said after her loss to Perry:

Thailand's Tamarine Tanasugarn, who suffered a disappointing loss against lower-ranked American Shenay Parry, yesterday praised her opponent.

``She played very well,'' said Tamarine. ``She had many different shots and I never knew what was coming back.

``I tried to adapt my game, but she was too good on the day,'' she said of her 20-year-old opponent.

Injured foot puts Tammy on sideline
Published on August 18, 2005

Thailand’s No 1 women’s player Tamarine Tanasugarn has cancelled all her warm-up events before the US Open due to a nagging injury to her left foot which has bothered her since last November. Since helping Thailand beat Slovakia in July’s Fed Cup, Tamarine has withdrawn from every hard court tournament in an effort to heal the sole of her foot.

“I could not run at all because it hurt so bad. I just started jogging several days ago and the condition is improving,’’ said Tamarine, whose season record is only 10-15 because of the foot problem.

Tamarine had her foot X-rayed at the Siriraj Hospital and doctors discovered a stone had developed on a ligament. It if is irritated, it becomes inflamed and causes a lot of pain, which hampers her movement.

Tamarine said she is considering surgery at the end of the year if the pain reoccurs. A laser operation is another option.

“A doctor has suggested surgery to fix this problem,” she said. “He also suggested that it could be cured by laser, but we have to discus this issue more,’’ added Tamarine, who aims to return to competition at the US Open in the next two weeks.

However, she does not have high hopes for her first tournament in almost two months.

“I’m not well prepared because I just started resuming the training. I’m not as fit as I would have wanted, but I’ll try my best,’’ she said.

Tamarine also cancelled a tournament in Bali after the US Open to focus on a bigger tournament in Shanghai, where she has to start in the qualifying rounds. Her programme for the rest of the year includes events in Croatia, South Korea, Japan and the Thailand Open in Bangkok.

Tammy lost again!!! How serious is her injury? I think she should not waste time and stop playing and go for surgery now and get a protected ranking.

Losing is not a solution..... she is already out of the top 100....

I think she should make sure she's fully healed/rest...tehn play some challengers for confidence and a few points and then go back to WTA level matches...she still has plenty of years left.

I heard the cut off for Aus Main draw is after the week of Gold coast and Auckland ... so after this year, Tammy would have one last shot at qualifying...

The cut off is at 104-105 and now Tammy is already at #130-#135

So let's hope she wins all the ITF titles!!!:bounce:

Aus MD will use the ranking from the end of $25K Mt.Gambier... that mean Tammy should win 2*$25K for playing in MD! :o:eek: Players who play $25K Nurioopa and Mt.Gambier are pretty strong than $50K Shenzhen. HOPE she can do it!... anyway Shenzhen title come in the right time!

Hmmm... but that's not what I heard...

Anyway, with her ability now... Even as qualifier (surely seeded), she should enter the main draw easily...

Besides, no more quality points, so round points for qualifier could be an added bonus for her...
