Hi I am going to collect some really classic matches on video and DVD and I am a Lindsay fan. So maybe you could recommend me some really great Lindsay matches of the past 2 years since her return after surgerys in autumn 2002. They should include really strong rallies with many winners and of course should be 3 sets thrillers.

Until now I have only:

Davenport-Henin Hardenne (Australian Open 4th Round 2003)
Davenport-Capriati (Semifinal Indian Wells 2003)
Davenport- V. Williams (Stanford Final 2004)

These are (until now) in my opinion Lindsay best matches. Of course I prefer matches where Lindsay did win. But I like Justine as well as Lindsay, so in that case the Aussie lost was not so bad :-)

By the way, I heard that Davenport-Hantuchova at Sydney Quarterfinal 2003 was good. Is it true? And further ones? Thank you so much in advance :-)

Best wishes from Leipzig, Germany

yes the USO one was great :yeah:

I came down in the morning for the YEC match, and it was in the middle of that mamouth game!

All i can remember thinking was - How fucking slow are these courts

When she beat V+s in the summer - they were special matches i think. The venus one especially.

I quite enjoyed Lindsay's win over Sprem at wimbledon, she dealt really well with someone who'd received a lot of hype after she beat Venus by breaking her in the first game.

If you find a full copy of stanford on dvd, tell me!

Thank you so far. But what about Davenport vs. Hantuchova (Sydney 2003). Was it good?

Well, all I saw of that match was Lindsay losing a lot of points, Hantuchova played quite well, and Lindsay was just undergoing the shots. Lindsay finally won, but I don't have a lot of good souvenirs of this match.

You should have The San Diego final from this year, just because Lindsay kicked Serena's ass so badly and she played almost flawlessly.

I don't think Lindsay's Stanford match was that great, particularly in the first set, it was all on Venus's racquet which is why Lindsay had lost so many times previously as she wasn't dictating. However, in the third set she really picked up her game and certainly won the tie break. Compared to her US Open 4th round match, Lindsay was mediocre, she dictated at the Open and played awesome tennis and I hope that is the tennis she brings to Melbourne.

In my opinion the Carlsbad final where Lidnsay defeated Myskina this year was classic. Defeating the number three ranked player 6-1 6-1 is amazing, and he quality of play was riveting.

Davenport- V. Williams (Stanford Final 2004) HAS to be the best one..not only did she play excellent and win, it gave her motivation which IMO contributed to the her domination in tennis.

Most of her best matches since the knee surgery came last year. I would say her best, cleanest match (that I saw) in '02 was when she crushed Myskina 2 and 1 (or something like that) in the New Haven semis. Similarly, her 1 and 1 demolition of Myskina last year in the San Diego final was even more flawless and stunning. My favorite match of hers from '03 was probably the 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 classic against Capriati, but for the drama and competitiveness, not because it was her best quality match throughout. Let's face it, that year was forgettable.

Oh! I remember now. Her best match of '03 was definitely her 1 and 1 rout of Schnyder, on clay no less, in the Amelia Island quarters. Even Patty had to give major props to Lindsay for that match, saying that she never played against someone who was so in the zone.

I agree with whoever said that the Sprem match from Wimbledon last year was amazing. And that she played much better against Venus in New York than in Stanford.
