As far as I know entlang is to be written after the noun in Akkusativ
you can use it with Genetiv too but it's not very common

I think sentence #3 is the best way to express what you wanna say ;)

Let me quote the Duden ;)

entlang; bei Nachstellung mit Akk.: den Wald - (selten Dat.: dem Wald - ); bei Voranstellung Dat.: - dem Fluss (selten Gen.: - des Flusses; veraltet Akk.: - den Fluss); am Ufer - .

Gotta love German. ;) So none of your options is wrong. :)

According to this, #1, #3 and #5 ('am' statt 'an dem') are the best options. Although I would have thought #2 is better than #1. :o

So I would choose #6. ;) No really, it sounds best IMO. :)

First I thought omg "I dont speak German" ...

than I thought, yessss, it's wonderful, all but the first is right. Multiple choice is the most difficult thing in German language.
I guess most of us would use "Am Fluss entlang stehen Bäume"

hmm, I don't think you can say "Dem Fluss entlang stehen Bäume." or "An dem Fluss entlang stehen Bäume."... This must be also wrong...
