I will be extremely happy with another title, possibly not in Strasbourg....and some other good results, to keep her in the top 20 before her retirement, that SHOULD happen at the end of 2005, but with Silvia you never know.....:) she might play until she is 40.....

I saw Silvia's match on TV (could not believe it  ), Silvia play a great first set and broke MAria at the beginning of the second set. She was just playing incredibly well, she looks very fit, calm and concentrated. She had a ball for a
2-0 lead in the second set that could have been decisive, but there was an overule on a ball, and the point was given to Maria, and that changed the match...Silvia was very angry, the ball was totally out...after that Silvia lost 7 games in a row...Maria got her confidence back and that was it...
But I was really impressed by Silvia, if she keeps playing like that she will have another excellent year

"This is a really amazing result for me," said Farina Elia, who reached her second career Tier II final. "I really didn't expect it with such a strong draw. I feel great, a little bit tired, but very, very happy."

"For me, almost 33, it's something that I really look for. I just try to reach goals like this. It's really helped me to keep going."

and

"It's like Serena," said Farina Elia about Davenport. "I went on court trying to enjoy myself and when I was enjoying myself my game came up pretty well, so I hope it can work again."

and here is what Lindsay said about Silvia

"She’s got a tricky backhand, where you think she’s hitting it late and she seems to make it," said Davenport of Farina Elia. "She is going to move very well. She is probably the player that I’ll play this week that gets the most balls back off my shots and I’ll have to be ready to keep hitting extra shots."

SILVIA FARINA

As for Silvia's match against Laura, she took a medical timeout in the second set and the trainer worked on her arm a bit. I'm hoping her shoulder is fully recovered but I can't say for sure. How did Roby play?

not very good to be honest. She was the one who dropped serve twice in the 2nd set and missed some easy backhand volleys. I was very surpisied because she has a great 'feel' around the net. She played better in Toronto when I saw her against Navratilova/Groenfeld. I think she was under alot of pressure as he other 3 players have been top 20 in singles.

So why is she playing in Filderstadt? Does she have some points to defend? Wouldn't be a better for her to take a rest in this season and fully recovered for the next, instead of play and make that poor results? Silvia lost to Nastya 6-1,6-4 :fiery:

I know I've said this before but I'm going to say it again...

Please hang up the sneaks for this year, rest, and get ready for next Silvia. You're a much better player than this! :tape:

According to the Belgian website of Hasselt tournament, this is SFE's last WTA tournament. So she's retiring?

Kirsten Flipkens (WTA 259) ontmoet de Italiaanse Silvia Farina Elia (WTA 31), die net als Callens haar laatste WTA-tornooi speelt.

Translated: Kirsten Flipkens (WTA 259) meets Italian Silvia Farina Elia (WTA 31), who just like Callens plays her last WTA tournament.

I really hope she doesn't retire

But, let's wish her extra luck in Belgium... in case it is her last event!

FORZA SILVIA!

“I have so many good memories,” said Farina Elia. “I really didn't expect to be ranked this high when I started out. I have to give all the credit to my husband for his love and support, especially for the last five or six years.”

“I'm proud of coming back from the injuries and proving to myself that I could do it again. I'm proud of playing the final this year in Amelia Island against Lindsay. I never thought I would reach that level again. I'm delighted with my wins over Venus and Serena this year. Also I'm proud of my win over Seles when we played Fed Cup in my country, that meant a lot to me. The highlight has to be reaching the quarterfinals of Wimbledon two years ago and playing three sets against Kim.”

ITS FINAL THEN!!!

Nothing's final.

She'll get the itch and return once her shoulder fully heals. :)
