View Full Version : What's your expectation for Lena in 2005 ?

Dec 1st, 2004, 09:43 AM
I just saw a delayed telecast of the Kremlin Cup quarterfinal match between Lena (Lena won 6-1 6-3) and Sveta and goodness me, Lena served very well with zero doublefaults in the match. Her toss was right most of the time which shocked the Eurosports commentators as they were expected to mock at her serve again. After watching this match, I think there is some reason to look forward to next year with optimism.

Since right it's the off-season, let's discuss on what do you hope for Lena to acheive in 2005.

Firstly, I would dearly want Lena to win the French Open at last and give a wonderful and truly happy speech in French this time.

Secondly, she should be involved in the Fed Cup next year and be part of the winning defending champion.

Thirdly, let's hope that this time next year, her serve is no longer an issue.

Well i wanna Lena to play her best , stay healthy and above all be HAPPY that all i realy want ,a happy smiling Lena more than anything else and of course i wanna see her win a slam ,I really feel she can do it ,she came so close twice so she has a great chance.
I wanna see her serve improved like everybody else and less first round loses ,we cannot expect her to win Everything ,thats just unreasonable but she can get some more titles this year.
I get so much pleasure just from watching her and seeing her beautiful smiling face i am happy just to see her playing.
I shall be up here on the bridge for a long long time ,as long as she is playing!!
Captain Dementinator is going nowhere any time soon....

You know I can imagine something like that in the news paper

-January: Semi-final in Australia for Dementieva...New serve for Dementieva, be good she is here
-Febuary: Win French tournement Open Gaz de France, and defeat Sharapova in semi final and Serena William in final
-March: Two semi-final and again a title in Miami) for the new Dementieva
-April: Two final ( Amelie island, Charleston) and a title in roma for Dementieva, she is getting close from the place number 1
-May: The incredible story of the new number 1 in the world after her win in French Open, Roland Garros, winning Myskina in the Semi final. First Russian girl for the number 1. How can the world can not be in love with Dementieva ?
-June: Everybody said that Dementieva don't play well in Wimbledon...So a semi-final is a good result and a win against Sharapova in quater final after a big match during 3 hours.
-July: The Russia is in the Final of the Fed Cup. Two won match for Dementieva, and a incredible double team with Dementieva and Myskina (Who can beat them?)
- August: After win San Diego and final in Los Angeles and New Haven, Elena Dementieva win her second Grand Slams in the year at the Us Open after an imbelliveble tournement winning against Mauresmo, Henin, and Williams. She is the number 1 and she diserved it.
- September: Russia win Fed Cup with the Unbeatable Dementieva and Myskina (the two diabolic sisters). Dementieva give the last point of the victory for Russian team.
- October: Final in Filderstadt and win Kremlin Cup and Hasselt. How did she do?
- November: The win of Dementieva in the Championships in Los Angeles. The story of this sweet woman, warriors, generous, funny, always a smile on her face, the (little) woman who the public love her but stay very discrete and simple. Number 1 in WTA tour and Number one in all the Heart of public. Last year some people laugh about her serve but this year she show that her new serve is a new arm.

Maybe I dream but it's allways good to dream ;)

You know what, my country just announced our first ever Singapore Idol winner a few minutes ago and the theme song that was written for this final and sang by the winner is entitled " I DREAM " .........

I think Elena will make (and hopefully win) one GS final this year. I also expect her to win two or three titles.

I like her odds at the FO best, as the clay makes her shaky second serve less of an issue and lets her rely more on her groundstrokes.

I also predict better doubles results as she settles into a partnership with Sugiyama.

-I would really like it if she win a Grand Slam. Finals were great this year, but it was even worse to see her lose in them.
-I want her to have a good record in finals.
-Find a way to beat Nastya!
-anf finally take over the #1 Russian spot.

just a better 2005 season than 2004, that means a Grand Slam (or two) more titles, and less first round losses, or unexpected losses, and the highest ranking ever (#3, #2, #1) That's what I expect/wish/dream/hope

Dec 2nd, 2004, 03:33 AM
just hope her in good health and happy life

titles also, but her improve is more important.

Dec 2nd, 2004, 06:54 AM
I'm expecting:
More consistency (less first round losses)
Improvement on the serve (less double faults, bit more depth, variety and pace)
Those things are almost a given from my perspective

Now, I'm wanting:
A GREAT improvement on the serve (rivals Davenport and Serena)
World Number One
That's not likely to happen soon, but who knows? Maybe she will come out of nowhere and completely improve her serving and consistency next year? Let's hope so

5. Beat higher ranked players quite often...
6. Beat Ana...Masha and Serena at least once...:bounce:
7. Play FedCup and win it as Lena deserved this yr...

Dec 2nd, 2004, 11:34 PM
be happy, stay healthy, improve the serve and toss, be more consistent and hopefully she'll have some luck :)

Dec 3rd, 2004, 08:34 AM
1. Stay healthy throughout the year.
2. More effective and consistent serve, and assimilate it to her games.
3. Win two Grand Slams.
4. Overwhelming H2H against every other Russians.
5. Make arrogant interviews after her big wins.

Dec 3rd, 2004, 10:41 AM
I just want Elena to be happy. If she's enjoying her time on court, then there really isn't anything else to worry about.

I'd like to see a better serve. God knows how many times she's shown the potential to walk away from matches as a winner, but ends up choking because her ball toss is out of proportion or her timing for her serve isn't good enough. Still, she's shown everyone she can win with a mediocre serve. If correcting her serve isn't high on her agenda, then maybe she'd do better to iron out the kinks in her groundstroke game. I'd say a stronger backhand would be great, and maybe more net approaches will help her out as well - she surprised me with how good she can be at the net during the US Open this year.

And I wouldn't mind seeing Elena rack up a few revenge matches from time to time. It'd be great to see her beat Anastacia, Serena, the Belgians and Maria on a regular basis. And it wouldn't hurt for her to try and score something along the lines of a 6-1, 6-0 win over Davenport - but I don't think she'd be able to do that on surfaces other than clay.

Dec 4th, 2004, 12:21 PM
i hope she'll get what she wants, and a lot of winnings of course... i think she deserves one or two GS title next year, 3 would be great, 4 would be perfect! :)

#2 spot, after Nastya, 2005 title 4 Russia, team consisting only of the "diabolic sisters" Lena & Nastya
