I will announce the results by announcing out of nominees. which three of them have tallied the highest number of votes. I will then announce the top two, and then finally the WINNER!

I don't want to sound bitchy or anything but how come number one player at the end of the year only finishes 4th in the 'best player' poll? A lot of you voted for your friends or those who you know best therefore a lot of results aren't very objective.

I'm not replying this because I got the award for the best player of the year. Of course mypapaje had a much more consistent season than me and that's why he finished 1st. But I believe some titles or some results make someone being more noticed than other ones. He got Tier I titles, but he didnt take a back to back Tier I titles, nor a Grand Slam title, like WTA Handicapper did. That's the difference. Surely it doesnt mean he shouldnt be awarded, but as I said, some results are more remarkable.
If we would think like you say in your post, Bulgaria, who got the Fed Cup Title and have 2 players in the Top 3, should be awarded as the best country of the year. However, it was only the 5th in the list.
Like it happens in the MTV Viewers Choice Award, it's not the best video that wins or not even the most watched, but the one which people who vote want to win ;) :)

Exactly but maybe it's just me (usually that's the case) ... but is certainly would not hurt to be objective ... also depends who's coming from where.

The #1 player doesn't necessarily represent the best player all the time.
There are just as much players that play Tier I tournaments as there are who play Grand Slams. But Grand Slam winners get more than double the ranking points. Also at the WTA Championships, the winner only has to beat 16 players whereas at Tier I tournaments, the winner has to beat over 100 competitors.
Also, this vote was taken before mypapa_je was number 1.
It is true that some people may vote for their friends but there's nothing that can be done about that.
