Maria Sharapova's rapid ascent to becoming the hottest property in women's tennis has clearly not gone down well with everyone.

The newly-crowned WTA Tour champion has not impressed France's Marion Bartoli.

"She doesn't really speak to anyone," said the world number 41.

"When you pass on front of her it's as if you don't exist, you're invisible, especially now.

"It's crazy because I remember really well having played her last year in doubles in Quebec. She was quite nice. She chatted. We ate together a few times. "The following year she has gone onto another planet."

Ooh Bitchy!

One thing is not right in the article. Bartoli was described as the "French rival" of Sharapova, while in fact she is 3 tiers below that. Bartoli can freely make such statements because she is so far removed from the scene. Real stars and "rivals" of Sharapova are a lot more careful about what they say. Serena has only said good things about Maria in the public (calling her "sexy", " I like her", etc.) even if she might not feel so in private. That's what separate a real star from an also-run.

Sharapova is young, and has had a crazy year with the media bowing at her feet so it's no surprise really. A shame though.

Yes she's a 17 year old bitch who has won Wimbledon. She is feeling herself, and why shouldn't she? She will snap out of it when she starts losing. ;)

I bet Maria has much less free time now than she had a year ago (really?). And with all that's been going on in her life for the past year, who in the same situation would remember to greet with a smile a person they once played doubles with and grabbed a meal. I believe she's telling the truth but I fail to see the big deal about it. Maria is a star now, not that she's being a b**ch, she simply doesn't have the time she used to. Now, if one of Maria's REAL friends would state something like this i'd be a bit surprised...

Anyway this Maria bashing is simply idiotic. If these people would think even once before making statements...But then again, expecting people to think in this day and age is a bit much to ask.

When you pass on front of her it's as if you don't exist, you're invisible, especially now.
Perhaps if Bartoli said "Hello!" to Maria - or "Congratulations." instead of "passing in front of her," she might get a reply.
