I predict Venus wil have the year of her career. She will figure out the Russians' game and start demolishing them apart.
As for Serena, I think she could equal this year at best but she may very well have a worse year. I mean..she ain't the same Serena Williams she once was.
My projected year end rankings of the sisters: Venus 2 Serena 9

Talk about turn around.....going on what both did this year Serena´s closer to acheving what you said than Venus....I don´t know. Hopefully they will stay healthy and then the results are gonna come.

IMO Serena could well finish no.1 next year, Venus will be lucky to finish in the top 10.

i hope they both have a really good year, but their form is too unpredictable to say now

I predict a 1 and 2 ranking by the sisters. Who is number 1 and who is number 2 out of those 2 is anyones guess (hope it's Venus though, as I favour Venus ever so slightly over Serena ever since US Open 99 and when I saw Venus' face in the final)

At any rate, I 'm cautiously optimistic. If they can remain healthy, they should approach or exceed their best years ever. IF they remain healthy and match-ready. :)

Oh yeah...!
I also see them again reaching the #1 and #2 spots. I mean, there are so many points they can accumulate in 2005! :bounce:

I don't expect anything to change. More injuries, no slams.

I agree with the consensis here, I think both sisters will show strong in 2005. Both of them feel like they have something to prove... Serena has to prove that her dominating days are not over and that she can still win Slams and big tourneys on a consistent basis when she's healthy, and Venus has to prove that she's still got it... period.

The only thing that worries me about Venus is that where as Serena is visibly upset and frustrated when she isn't doing well, Venus seems not to care all too much... like it isn't the biggest thing in the world to her. IMO if Vee wants to get back to the top she has to start showing some dedciation to the game, 100%. Make us believe that she wants to be on the court and not decorating some celebrity's mansion somewhere. Bring back that drive of old! I think she is fully capable of doing that and I'm confident she will this coming season.

The best way for Serena to improve would be for her to play Sharapova when she's healthy. She needs a win over Maria. At Wimbledon Serena got her ass kicked, plain and simple, but at the YEC she was obviously injured and if not for that it she would have won that much. I'm sure she'de love nothing more than to put the smack down on Masha at Wimbledon, but I don't think Sharapova will get far enough for that to happen. I think this season will be a sophmore slump for her... all the heavy scheduling and that overbearing father will take it's toll on her. She won't get past the QF's at a Slam at best. Most likely 4th round. She has to be careful... if she doesn't watch herself, she's going to end up like Hingis, burnt out and retired at 22.

I expect to see Serena win the Australian, Venus win the French, Serena win Wimbledon, and then an all-sister showdown at the US Open.

Bring back the Sister Slam's!!!! Venus & Serena Domination 2005! Stay healthy! Watch out girls, because it's about to get Compton up in here!

Tennistutor and felipe...what´s it. You KNOW this or you HOPE so?

And funny...comments about more injuries and no slams coming from a member of Justine´s Phillistines´s society....would be careful for what I wish for....I mean there might well be more injuries, but it might turn out to be for the WRONG person...

Judging by their respective performances this year. Very little.

Venus, has given up the ghost. And with Venus not around to cover little sisters back. Won’t be long until she’s had enough too.

I don't know, and I don't hope that happens. I'd like to see they playing a lot and being in the top 10. It's just that they are having so many injuries for such a long time. So, that's a possibility. But I never like to see tennis players being injured. ;)

i really wish the Williams Sisters can consider playing doubles together again...

Serena will only get better next year...Apart from Sharapova she hardly has any problems with the Russians...
Venus need to believe she can repeat what she achieved in 2000/2001
and it is still not too late to correct her technical flaws on her forehand side and 2nd serve... i mean she can take a few pointers from Serena... its always astonishing that Serena'a technique is so technically perfect while Venus' :tape:

i dunno. they both get injured so often and then when you couple that with lack of motivation and so many players playing consistently better, they could have really spotty results. they NOW have to show up and play their absolute best to give themselves a chance at winning the big titles. it's not as easy for them because people are playing their own style but cleaner (but not as spectacular, mind you). i really think serena can win another slam sometime in her career. with venus i'm not so sure.

I predict that Serena and Venus will come back with something to prove next year. I think that Serena has the best chance of doing well. With Venus, she really seems to have fallen off of the radar screen. She just simply isn't the same player that she was when she was dominating. It's really sad to see. If she expects to dominate again, her forehand and second serve will have to improve - bottom line. Those are her two weakest shots, and they have cost her dearly this year. Players that she used to dominate have starting beating her, or pushed her to three sets. With Serena, she just needs to get healthy. She would have won the YEC if it weren't for that injury. And even after the injury occured, she still went up 4-0 in the third set against a very talented player in Sharapova. Her fighting spirit will always make her a contender in any event she plays. It doesn't matter if she misses 10 years - her fighting attitude wins her the money matches. I really think that they (at least Serena) will go on a tear next year. I think that at least one of them will win a Slam. Serena will come back next year and dominate her rivalry with Capriati - you can trust me on that one. No one beats her three times in one year and gets away with it. Serena will also have something for Sharapova. They're on much better terms than Serena and Cap, but still, Serena will want to show Maria who's boss on the tour. Right now, I think the biggest difference between the two is the fact that Serena still has the mentality that she can beat anyone, no matter how bad she's playing. Venus used to be one of the mentally toughest players on tour, but her mindset seems to have left her for the moment. But 2005 will be a big year for the Willamses. Watch out!

You don't forget how to ride a bike. They'll do as well as the time
and effort put into practice. The Sisters have all the skill, it's fine
tuning that needs work. Even the world's greatest musicians need
to do rehearsals or they'll forget lyrics or notes to hundreds of
songs.
