-They are not real fans of Tennis

-Their immature and bias

-They are jealous of her

-They post all these threads against her because they can't take her success anymore, so they express their anger on this messageboard by talking bad stuff about her so they can feel better about themselves

-They criticize Maria because so many things have been said about her and she’s the centre of attention when they themselves are the ones who generates all these topics about her.

Right.

All us Maria fans are getting so tired of having to defend Maria... and ourselves for being Maria fans!!! Because apparently all Maria fans are the scourge of the earth

And then there's this wave of "so-called" Maria fans who claim to be fans but go around making outrageous comments like "Maria is the greatest ever" and "Serena fakes injuries" and the like. It's these idiots that give the real fans a bad name.

Haha what if you just don't find her appealing and don't care for her really? Like she is just there but you don't really pay her much mind!? lol Thats ok right?

Yes of course that's OK!

It's not like everyone has to be her fan.

We just object to the haters!

I was only mad when I saw people with Maria in their signs, saying that Serena faked her injury, that it was only her ego that was injured and the like.

But then you see how they only have like 2 or 3 posts and you realize that they´re just instigators.

WE get mad at those people too. just as i imagine you get frustrated with serena trolls. it denigrates what these great players do, and we should be more wise to it than we often are. good point.

Yep..Serena trolls are bad too, sometimes the worst.

Bandabou I hear ya. People who posted things like that are just plain worthless-- either "haters'" or fighting what they see as anti-Maria hate.

Substitute "Serena" for "Maria" and it all applies to her too of course-right down to controversial daddy, the intimidation factor, and the c'mons.

LOL at the tennis circle of life.

It showed a lot of guts on Seren'a's part to stay to out there.
And Maria proved her mettle by getting it together to come back. Vera Zvonareva would have been in tears at 0-4!

Just a tip...

First of all, I am a horrible speller myself. However, it has to be said: biased. not bias.

Thanks.

Oh, and the last point made sense, the rest was BS. Sometimes people just don't like somebody. There doesn't need to be reason for it, much less the ones that you posted :retard:

Vera Zvonareva would have been in tears at 0-4!It's not fair for people to make negative comments about Masha, but it's okay to take potshots at other players?

What happened in the match between Bepa and Sveta at the YEC? Bepa was trailing 0-4*, but managed to get the set back on serve. She fights, despite the tears.

I have heard some posters say they hate some players and love others.
Posters have replied but saying “how can you hate someone you don’t even know?”
By the same way of thinking, how can you like someone you don’t even know or even love them?
Maria is just a kid, at least by my way of thinking. Did anybody hear her thank her “Mommy?”
I thought that was kind of funny.

I think she’s got some attitude, same with Serena.
Both are good for the game.

everyone has players they like and players they don't like. I mean just because we don't like Sharapova, so now we're not real fans of tennis?
If we're not real fans of tennis, we wouldn't give a crap about Sharapova.

A real tennis fan is happy when players he supports do well. A real fan is supportive of players, likes to see good matches, played well, and is always glad to see new talent coming along to bolster the game.

People who are resentful of talented newcomers and try to tear them down are not real tennis fans. They have become negative obsessives.

LOL at the tennis circle of life.i got over 150,000 negative rep points for pointing out these similarities between Maria and Serena, down to the Daddy factor. i only knew this of course bec one of the neg-reppers made a point of making sure that i did. but i agree with you -- and myself. ;)

I wonder why pointing that out would make some people so angry? If we ever want to get along with each other, we should accept and appreciate the similarities as well as the differences.

My reasons:
1.HYPE. The media attention which is given to her drives me nuts. It might not be her foult and it is well deserved, but I just don't like somebody under a spotlight like that.
2. Too many people are jumping all over the place shouting her name, just because she's hot. Many didn't see her play, and yet she's their fave... Not her foult, but this isn't too pleasant to witness as well.

Tell me... what is it that I've said that you dislike? I have nothing against Serena. I'm just not a fan of hers.

Its just like football or any other sport. Fans support teams and insult opposing teams.

In Tennis, it is a little more personal, because it is aimed at a single individual, not a group of individuals.

It is fine if players dislike Sharapova, or don't care about her progress. We can't like everybody. But its wrong that a player should be persecuted and persistently jibed at, just for beating others. Especially if, at the end of the day, the player is still very much a young girl.

It seems to me that its largely Serena fans who dont like Sharapova, (a) because Sharapova beat Serena at Wimbly and (b) because her lack of courtesy and consideration for other players seem to match or even exceed that of Serena's, and for some strange reason they find that distasteful!!

I'm not a particular fan or detractor of either, by the way.

I know who all the Serena fans on this board are and thats just not true. Most Serena fans dont seem to have a problem with her, the Maria haters come from all different fan groups. There are some Serena fans, but not more than any other group.

Everyone loves Maria, they just don't know it yet :D

Seriously, I think a few people think she's responsible for her hype and stuff, but she's only responsible for it in the sense that she is having awesome results, like a young Serena and Martina had. She's a good kid, she always respects her opponents in press conferences, and handles the teasings well (Karatancheva). She's just 17 so people should give her a break.

My reason is that every time she does well, the media brings up Anna and they constantly mention how Maria is so much better than her just b/c she wins at singles even though Anna has done better in doubles. Don't get me wrong, I think Maria is very pretty, incridibly talented, and from what I've seen a pretty sweet kid. But as an Anna fan, it gets annoying!!! Iwant my Anna back and Maria winning is a constant reminder of what I don't have. My favorite tennis player healthy on tour and winning!!!
