Yuri Sharapov is a Crazed LunaticCC Nov 16th, 2004, 03:58 AM Did you see him just tell someone to fuck off? jbone_0307 Nov 16th, 2004, 03:59 AM Get over it. SelesFan70 Nov 16th, 2004, 03:59 AM  YEah...what was that about? grmbl Nov 16th, 2004, 03:59 AM OMG.. He's an asshole first class... ys Nov 16th, 2004, 04:00 AM You mean, anyone who tells someone to f%ck off is a lunatic? Then we all are.. Dan23 Nov 16th, 2004, 04:00 AM Yeah Im afraid I have to agree that sometimes he does things a bit  CC Nov 16th, 2004, 04:01 AM First, he runs on to the court like an overexcited idiot. Maria was like ok, just give him a quick hug and hope no one notices. He needs attention badly. tennischick Nov 16th, 2004, 04:02 AM how soon folks forget the crazy behavior of other proud papas  SelesFan70 Nov 16th, 2004, 04:04 AM how soon folks forget the crazy behavior of other proud papas  Papa Pierce Papa Dokic Papa Williams Papa Sharapov Tratree Nov 16th, 2004, 04:04 AM Yeah, I'm glad no other tennis parents do anything like that, like dancing on the roof of the booth at Wimbledon or holding up signs with silly messages. Take a chill and get over it people. lizchris Nov 16th, 2004, 04:07 AM Yeah, I'm glad no other tennis parents do anything like that, like dancing on the roof of the booth at Wimbledon or holding up signs with silly messages. Take a chill and get over it people. I didn't like when Richard did that, but at least Venus won against a player who wa not injured. To do what he did tonight shows what classless trash Yuri Sharapov is and I hate myself for saying this, but Damir Dokic is looking prettry good right now. CC Nov 16th, 2004, 04:07 AM I know what you mean about proud papas, but this wasn't like joy for HER only. It was like he won. And then his anger at someone who must have said something to him was shocking to me. tennischick Nov 16th, 2004, 04:09 AM all proud parents who have invested heavily in their daughters are entitled to get carried away at first. Maria will soon get old enuf to put him in his place. ;) DeDe4925 Nov 16th, 2004, 04:10 AM I didn't like when Richard did that, but at least Venus won against a player who wa not injured. To do what he did tonight shows what classless trash Yuri Sharapov is and I hate myself for saying this, but Damir Dokic is looking prettry good right now. I totally agree with this. It was very a classless thing to do considering the fact that she really didn't do anything amazing. Serena was injured. CC Nov 16th, 2004, 04:13 AM all proud parents who have invested heavily in their daughters are entitled to get carried away at first. Maria will soon get old enuf to put him in his place. ;)I hope she gets older real quick. I thought she looked slightly embarrassed to see him right there on the court. dylan24 Nov 16th, 2004, 04:15 AM i wish he'd lose the f'ing shades for indoor night matches. he thinks he's a celeb like jack nicholson? Janet Nov 16th, 2004, 04:16 AM Yeah you guys can start talk smack about maria crazy father, I saw when he told some one in the crowd to f-off the person should have smack him in the mouth and stop acting like an idiot..............mark my word Maria father will be one of those DAD that will EAT up his daughter money down the road because he fit the description of a crazy russian DAD............many forigen tennis parents are known to push their kids hard and when they hit 20 they are burn out and get them self in trouble (I know Jennifer DAD did it to her so if Maria DAD don't stop acting crazy it will back fire on him..............it's great when a parent is happy for your win put don't after act like an idiot in front of the other opponent, from the monet I see maria DAD on the sence I don't like him and for his daughter I hope she will keep up the wining streak year after year since she can not do any wrong!! Good win for maria but against an injury Serena and the win in my eyes is SERENA for going out and play for the crowd that is some class. And all the best to the Williams girls for 2005.............I will be sign-off until Austrlian Open........... ys Nov 16th, 2004, 04:16 AM I totally agree with this. It was very a classless thing to do considering the fact that she really didn't do anything amazing. Serena was injured. She has just won her biggest ever WTA tournament, She finally did something that will completely stop the talks about her W win being a fluke.. She confirmed herself as a major champion.. If you don't understand the importance of all that, there is nothing here to talk about. Whether she beat healthy Serena or injured Serena or any other Serena doesn't matter. She badly needed this title, this result.. She will be #1 next year. ~|Naomi|~ Nov 16th, 2004, 04:18 AM Richard Williams has nothing on this bloke Knizzle Nov 16th, 2004, 04:18 AM Yeah, I'm glad no other tennis parents do anything like that, like dancing on the roof of the booth at Wimbledon or holding up signs with silly messages. Take a chill and get over it people. Was it out on the playing surface though?? Fans hold up signs, so why can't Richard. Don't compare the two cause it's not even the same. Atrixo Nov 16th, 2004, 04:21 AM He definitely needs to take it down a "couple of thousand" notches with his obnoxious behaviour. I just hope Maria can distance herself from her father if things get too "out of hand" in the future. With the increasing frequency of "incidents" like today, it seems very likely. dylan24 Nov 16th, 2004, 04:24 AM no way maria will be able to distance herself from him. that lunatic will be at every single match the rest of her career. AlexB Nov 16th, 2004, 04:29 AM ah crazy tennis parents...gotta love them...im just waiting for the day for some dad to climb out the stands and assault the chair ump lol dylan24 Nov 16th, 2004, 04:33 AM ah crazy tennis parents...gotta love them...im just waiting for the day for some dad to climb out the stands and assault the chair ump lol if i had to bet on one to do it, it would be mr sharapov Justeenium Nov 16th, 2004, 04:33 AM what happened? I remember him going back to his seat yelling and being angry. Is that when he said fuck off? and why? was it because they didn't allow him onto the court? Lucy Nov 16th, 2004, 04:36 AM yeah! i saw that!! why was he swearing at someone? he's kinda freaky. i'de be affraid of him. Epigone Nov 16th, 2004, 04:37 AM Someone should give Glen Schaap a call Venus Forever Nov 16th, 2004, 05:07 AM His reaction was ridiculous. It's one thing if Maria won this tournament, in a tight battle with a healthy player, and she outplayed her in the end.... ...but it's another if the main reason a player won a title was due to another player's inability to hit a ball due to an injury that was sustained in the match, and who was struggling just to finish the match, not to mention just get the ball in play. Be happy for Maria, budon't run onto the court, jump up and down, and parade around as if you won the money yourself. THAT IS A COMPLETE DISRESPECT TO BOTH SERENA AND MARIA I'm surprised he even got on court, because that was a ridiculously poor job by the security. Hachiko Nov 16th, 2004, 05:12 AM First, he runs on to the court like an overexcited idiot. Maria was like ok, just give him a quick hug and hope no one notices. He needs attention badly. Don't compare the two cause it's not even the same. he did this after the match, and richard was hopping on top of the BROADCASTING booth during the match. i think it's pretty comparable. DeDe4925 Nov 16th, 2004, 05:22 AM In all fairness, where was the same critcism when Richard DANCED on court after Venus beat Lindsay on one of the US Open finals? Where have you been? And, actually he danced on top of a booth at Wimby when Vee beat Lindsay. Anyway, what does Venus and Richard have to do with any of this. At least Lindsay wasn't injured. When did Richard dance on the court? Don't put words in my mouth. I don't see anything wrong with celebration. I do, however, think it's disrespectful for the winner and her family to celebrate a victory over an obviously injured player like they did something fantastic. Or, like it was so hard fought. Anyone could have won the last six games against Serena with the amount of pain she was in. Come on, I know you're not stupid. You understand my point, you just want to argue because you don't like Serena. Masharapova Nov 16th, 2004, 05:35 AM And you are only arguing because you dont like Serena. DeDe4925 Nov 16th, 2004, 05:37 AM I've reported 2 of your posts already. I hope others have done the same. By the way, I am masha. What he did today was beyond rediculous. I used to think that Damir was bad.. But Yuri is 1000 times worse. Im sure it made Serena feel great to see that pair prancing around like show ponys when she has just sustained another serious injury.. What class that exudes. Masharapova Nov 16th, 2004, 08:34 AM Dont you see? He was PLEASED his daughter won a tournament, where the top players of the whole world took part. What he did was just completly classless... :o Well you know what they say... Like father, like daughter.. kikker Nov 16th, 2004, 09:01 AM oohh well i agree with you guys that Yuri sharapov is a little bit :cuckoo: but that's not maria's fault she just have to take som distance from her father or she will end up like Jelena  Hachiko Nov 16th, 2004, 09:02 AM Ummm no one is saying he can't be happy... Navratilove Nov 16th, 2004, 09:11 AM Some parents are just pathetic. They treat their kids as if they were their belongings. It's not too uncommon though. He's just a less-then average human being. We have yet another endless thread bitching about it, but yet it has not been explained why he exploded to begin with......... So what was up with him? We don't know what prompted the angry explosion ... he was on his way back to his seat after running onto the court, so maybe in his excitement he stepped on a few toes and they were all like, "Watch where you're going jerkoff." And of course he's not gonna take that. Or maybe someone said, "Calm the fuck down and show some respect." But that's all speculation. We just saw his reaction to something that was obviously said to him or about him. Jakeev Nov 16th, 2004, 11:17 AM Thanks CC cause I definitely that whole exchange between the celebration and than the anger. CC Nov 16th, 2004, 11:19 AM No problem. :) the cat Nov 16th, 2004, 03:21 PM Well said TC and ys. Masha will become more independent as she matures and her father will have to accept that and hopefully he will become less visible. And Masha did need the YEC championship to solidify her historic Wimbledon triumph. And let's not forget Masha has won a grand slam singles title, The YEC and most likely the player of the year honors while still playing under the WTA AER and that makes her accomplishments even more spectacular than they already are. Her great accomplishents this year while playing under to WTA AER might never be done again in women's tennis. I also give credit to Serena Williams for playing with great heart and desire in the YEC final. :D She could have quit after she was injured but she forged ahead and still almost won. It was the 2000 or 2001 US Final - One between Lindsay and Venus, Venus won and Richard came down on the court and did a little jiggy dance...Venus looked embarrassed to me. Dont you recall Navratilova getting ROASTED by Williams fans for saying that if she was Lindsay, and Richard had come down and danced in her face she would have slapped him!! A whole load of Willi fans then whinged about Martina 'inciting violence' LOL...Im surprised you dont recall this. That can be really offending to some parents i geuss, i wouldnt know i am only 14. Dan23 Nov 16th, 2004, 11:48 PM I dont think Maria was overly impressed with Yuri coming down to the court...she was very quick to turn away once he'd hugged her.. I hope she or maybe one of the other less excitable members of Marias team has a word to him about possibly calming down.. Maria will be winning a few more tournaments in the future and we dont need a repeat of this..:) DeDe4925 Nov 17th, 2004, 12:51 AM Oh please Dede, dont write off my difference of opinion because I dont like Serena - I do like her, I dont like Richard however. I do recall that, however, Richard didn't go all the way on the court, he was on the sidelines near where the players sit. Yuri went all the way out on to the court. But, I do agree with you, fathers should keep their asses off the court, especially when the winner didn't do anything spectacular. Philbo Nov 17th, 2004, 02:00 AM yay! Common ground! Jaime Bahena Nov 17th, 2004, 03:22 PM no way maria will be able to distance herself from him. that lunatic will be at every single match the rest of her career. ..unless she gets a court mandated protective order, banning him from coming within 100 feet of her. Sanneriet Nov 17th, 2004, 05:39 PM I dont think Maria was overly impressed with Yuri coming down to the court...she was very quick to turn away once he'd hugged her.. I thought the same thing. She did not really hug him, or even look too happy. Kart Nov 17th, 2004, 08:08 PM There are no degrees of stupidity. Richard Williams years ago, Yuri Sharapova this week. Both behaved equally badly. Still, Richard has pretty much shut up now, hopefully Yuri will follow in his footsteps. Alfie Nov 17th, 2004, 08:08 PM Sharapova's papa's wack. Bizarre behavior. Disgraceful. Richard Williams was strange too, but he never had to be physically pulled from the court. Your kid is the celeb, not you Yuri...shame shame shame. :cuckoo: Tratree Nov 17th, 2004, 11:02 PM Just wanted to say, all Yuri's craziness aside (and the man is a bit high-strung to say the least), I sat through a few of Maria's practice sessions this week and witnessed the great relationship between Maria and her dad. They were laughing, joking around with each other, playing football tennis with each other. Regardless of his antics, he seems to be a good dad and I didn't notice any mistreatment, yelling, etc. That said, if he walked on the court again after I won a match like that I would ground him for a week without allowance. Joana Nov 17th, 2004, 11:04 PM I take it that the thread title is a bit of a hyperbole. Atrixo Nov 17th, 2004, 11:10 PM I wonder if Maria is counting down the days til her 18th birthday. I'm sure Maria loves her father, but she must be dying to gain some freedom and independence from both, her father and IMG (i.e. Big Brother), to do what she actually wants. Instead of always doing what's expected of her. :) | |
